  • Transfer from terminal B to C

I am travelling from Heathrow to Newark arriving at terminal B, then on to Orlando from terminal C. We have only a 1hr30min layover. Assuming my first flight is on time, can this be done? Concerned!

It's barely possible. Luckily United probably has a later flight to Orlando that you can be rebooked on if you miss your connection.

We are flying from Atlanta to EWR on Delta. Four hours later we fly from EWR to Florence on Swiss Air. Once we collected our checked luggage from Delta, what are our options to get to Swiss Air check-in at the international terminal with our luggage? A member in our party is a senior citizen with good mobility. The easier the better.

both of your flights are in Terminal B. All you have to do is go up to the Departure level of Terminal B after claiming your bags from Delta and check your bags with Swiss, get your boarding passes, and go through security.

  • Columbus OH to Newark then to London UK, 40 min layover

Hi, our first flight has just been cancelled and we have to get our plane in Newark otherwise we will arrive in London to late for a family event! The only available flight that United airlines proposes will give me (I'm travelling alone with 2 toddlers) 40 minutes overlay. Both flights are with United airlines, so baggages should go straight to UK but I am very stressed about the time between the flights (specially with 2 toddlers). Does any one have had this experience before? Thansk

It's possible. But difficult if your flight from Columbus arrives in Terminal A as that means you will have to take the shuttle to Terminal C where you will depart.

Hello, I'm flying from Montreal into Newark on United and then flying on through United to Orlando. Our layover is only 1hr 7min. My question is do I have to go through baggage claim and pick my bags up and recheck them? Is this connection even possible since we have to switch terminals and go through security again?

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Montreal. You will likely arrive in Terminal A and depart from Terminal C, but United operates a shuttle bus inside security between A and C. You have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

Thanks so much for the info! Do I need to go get my baggage or just go straight to the other plane?

You just have to go to your other plane.

  • Air Canada Toronto to Newark arrive Terminal A

We will arrive at Terminal A Newark from Canada after vacation in Boston and Toronto. Will need to depart from Terminal B with a different carrier to London. Do we go through immigration and customs and how long should we allow for this process?

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. Your arrival into Newark will be like a domestic flight. Assuming you have two different reservations Toronto-Newark and Newark-London, all you have to do is collect your baggage from the first airline and bring it to the check in counter of the second airline and go through security. The AirTrain connects all terminals outside security.

  • DUB to MCO via EWR

I am flying from Ireland to Orlando. we have immigration control in Dublin airport, so does anyone know if I will have to go through immigration again in Newark or is there a flight connection area for domestic flights like Atlanta? I would have only 1:25 for transfer so too tight for re-security check probably

You will not have to go through US Immigration in Newark. All you have to do in Newark is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. Assuming both are on United they are both in Terminal C.

Im flying from the UK to Newark and getting a connection to San Francisco with united airlines, both flights land/ leave from terminal c but I only have 1hr 55min to catch the next flight, is this enough time? Also is the luggage transferred straight to my next flight or do I have to lift it and check it in again? Thanks

That should be barely enough time. You will arrive in Terminal B or C. Go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through Us Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then if you arrived in Terminal B, go to Terminal C, then go through security and to your departure gate. If you miss your connection, United has almost hourly flights to San Francisco to Newark.

I am flying from Mexico to stockholm via Newark (EWR airport). Do I have to re-check my luggage and go through immigration at Newark?. The two flights are run by United airlines. Also, i would like to know what is the quickest way to go from terminal B to terminal C. I have 2 hr 45 min between flights.

Yes, in Chicago you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US customs, and re-check your bags then go to your departure terminal and through security. You should have enough time.

Ok. the thing is that i am not going to chicago. i am flying to newark, NJ airport and then i fly to stockholm. Thank you.

Sorry, meant to type Newark. Replace "Chicago" with "Newark" and it's the same procedure.

  • ATL TO EWR #C TO EWR #B TO MUM

Hi, I'm traveling from ATL to EWR (on United) .. and then EWR to MUM (India) on Air India ... bought as 1 ticket. Am asking for wheelchair assistance. Have 2 Checked Bags. Will I be required to claim my bags at EWR and re-check? Will I have to take Train/Monorail to get from Terminal C to Terminal B, or is there some internal connection/shuttle from C to B? Will I have to go through security check again at EWR?

No, you will not have to claim your bags. Yes, the wheelchair pusher will probably push you to the AirTrain to go between terminals and you will likely have to go through security again in B, but you will be put at the front of the line because wheelchair.

ZAP - Thank you so much for the info!

  • Do I need to go through immigration

I am flying from Mexico to delhi via houston (IAH airport) and Newark (EWR airport). Do I need to go through immigration at Houston or Newark. All the connecting flights are run by United airlines.

In Houston you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags, and go through security and to your departure gate. In Newark all you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

I am travelling Air Canada to EWR, arriving at one terminal, then continuing on to Heathrow with British Airways from a different terminal, but it is all one trip and my bag will be checked all the way through. Will I have to clear customs again in Newark? I have 2 hours between flights, is this enough time?

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs before your Air Canada flight and there is no US Customs when leaving the US. You should have enough time.

I am arriving in terminal c at Newark from heathrow and catching a connecting flight from the same terminal do i need to collect and re check my baggage if i am not leaving the terminal i arrive at to depart i only have 1 hour 20 mins to connecting flight is this possible with this amount of time available

Yes, you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go through security and to your gate. 80 minutes is not enough time for that. You need to contact your travel agent or United and obtain other flights.

I have a Friend who will be in NYC, i will be making my conection claiming my luggage in ERW, i just want to know if its easy to get out in ERW ditching my last flight or i will be on a different terminal since my flight is a connection going to Mex. Or i´ll be better taking only carry-on luggage. Thanx

Once you arrive in EWR you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, and go through US Customs. You will then be outside security and with your baggage and technically free to go wherever you want. However, since this is an international itinerary and US authorities are expecting you to leave the country after this flight. This may cause issues as they may view you as having violated visa waiver status and may cause issues when you re-enter the US. (Ignore this if you are a US Citizen). Also, any subsequent portions of your itinerary will be canceled by the airline.

Hi, I'm traveling on flight ua26 from Birmingham UK to Newark with a 3 hour transfer wait for a connecting flight to Orlando on ua1969, is this enough time and will my luggage be checked through to Orlando or will I have to re-check them. My wife is disabled and I was worried if this is enough time. Many thanks for your anticipated reply. A very worried traveler

Yes, that should be enough time. You will arrive in Terminal B or C, go through US Immigration, claim your baggage, go through US Customs, then re-check your baggage at the re-check desk, then if you arrived in Terminal B, you will take the AirTrain to Terminal C, go throguh security and go to your departure gate.

I am flying from Manchester to Newark (landing at 12:30) and then Newark to Ohio (setting off at 14:45). Will this be enough time to clear immigration and change my bags and go through security? I'm becoming very anxious!

If your flight from Manchester is on-time it should be just enough time.
