First Time Flyer, young kid, can run if needed haha! Leaving Boston 7:00 am, arriving in EWR at 8:27, 9:08 flight to SRQ. Both United Airlines and both bought on same itinerary. Will I be at the same Terminal when I arrive, if not where do I go and how long does it take? Any tips would help! Thanks

  • London Heathrow to Pittsburgh via EWR

Hi, I'm flying into EWR from London Heathrow, and then onto Pittsburgh. I have 1h30 to make the connection. Is that likely to be enough time? Will I need to collect my bags, clear immigration, and re-check in for my second flight? Or can I clear immigration in Pittsburgh? (I don't have a US passport (UK) so worried about how long it might take to clear immigration.)

You have the procedure correct. You will do everything in Newark. 90 minutes is possible but leaves very little time to spare in case there is a delay.

We are travelling fro Edinburgh to Orlando by United via EWR Do we pick up our bags at EWR and transfer them Do we change terminals

Yes, you will have to pick up your baggage after you go through US Immigration, then go through US Customs, then re-check it at the transfer desk. You will likely have to change terminals as you will likely arrive in Terminal B but you will depart from Terminal C. However there is a chance you will arrive in Terminal C. Either way you will have to go through security in Terminal C.

Glasgow to LAX via EWR, booked together, both United. Should be pick up bags, customs, recheck bags, security, gate. If that security check is slow and miss flight, what happens to the rechecked bags ? Return journey is SFO to Glasgow via EWR, again both booked together and United, this time bags should go through without our handling at EWR, just go from arrivals gate to departure gate, both Terminal C. If first flight delayed and miss connection at EWR what happens to bags ? Do they somehow automatically make it onto whatever flight United might rebook us onto ?

In regards to your first question. Your bags may make the original flight in which case they will be in the bag office at LAX when you arrive. If they don't make the original flight they will try to put them on the flight you are on. Same on your return journey, except that since there's only one flight per day from EWR to GLA, they will probably just arrive on the next day's EWR-GLA flight, even if you arrive earlier by them routing you though somewhere else in Europe.

Hi, we are flying with United Airlines from Oslo to Lax, with a layover of 90 minutes at EWR. Is it enough time? If missing the connection, would rebooking be possible? Thanks inadvance for your help.

29 APR FLYING INTO EWR TO ARRIVE AT 630PM WILL THERE BE ENOUGH TIME TO MAKE CONNECTION FOR OUTWARD BOUND FLIGHT TO SNN AT 725PM

Yes, that should be enough time. Both flight should be in Terminal C. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

  • Enough time?

Hi, all, We are flying into Newark from Boston. We have 1 hour to get our connection to Orlando. Enough time? Suggestions? Thanks!

Yes, that should be enough time if your first flight is on-time. If you are flying United and arrive into Terminal A, United runs a shuttle bus from Terminal A to terminal C where your flight to Orlando will depart.

Hi, Lisa, Thanks for your response. We are actually flying Jet Blue, not United. Will we still be alright? It's an early AM flight with our toddler, so you can imagine we don't want to get stuck in the airport. Thanks again!

Sorry, I should have written your actual screen name- ZAP. I was texting my friend, Lisa! :) Thanks again!!

Yes, flying JetBlue will make it even easier because they only have a few gates in Newark and they are all close together.

Where is the shuttle bus located in Terminal A and how often does it come? I only have an hour between flights can I run from A to C?

No, it's not possible to run between the terminals. The SHuttle bus is pretty frequent. You can also take the AirTrain, which is more frequent but requires going through security again in C.

  • Flying in from Toronto Canada to San Juan

Hi I have a flight from Toronto Canada to San Juan with a connecting flight at EWR (Newark). Will we need to pick up our luggage before proceeding? I think we do customs in Toronto...not sure. We are flying with United Airlines and our connection time is 3H45min (which I think is great considering never have been at Newark...and it seems huge). How easy is it to get to one terminal to the next? Or is there a chance I won't need to change terminals? Thanks

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. All you have to do in Newark is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You may arrive in Terminal A. You will depart from Terminal C. United runs a shuttle bus between terminals inside security, but you have enough time that you could also take the AirTrain, you would just have to go through security again when you get to Terminal C if you take the AirTrain.

  • Long waiting time

Greetings, on March 13th I will fly from Boston to Berlin via EWR. The waiting time between the two flights is of 11 hours (arrival at 8am departure at 7pm). Do I have the chance to exit the airport, spend some hours in NYC and come back in time for the flight to Berlin? Thank you!

Yes, you are free to exit the airport. It takes a little over an hour to get to Manhattan via the airtrain and NJ Transit train, so you can have several hours to explore NYC.

We fly from BHX into Terminal B at 11.55 and have to catch a connecting flight from Terminal C at 14.10. This gives us 2hrs 15mins to get through security. Will this be enough time? Will we have to check our bags in again?

Yes, you will arrive in Terminal B, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the transfer desk, take the AirTrain to Terminal C, go through security and to your departure gate. That should be enough time if your first flight is on-time.

  • Fling from LAX to NWR for BOM

Hi - We are going from LAX to Bombay through NWR on united flight. We have 1.5 hr of layover at EWR. Do we have to change terminal? Any security clearance we need to do at EWR? I think the EWR to BOM filight is from C terminal. I am not sure about LAX to EWR flight? we have baby with us so wanted to make sure we have enough time and dont have to go through security. thanks in advance Sachin

If both flights are on United both flights will be in Terminal C and you only have to walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You should have plenty of time if your first flight is on-time.

  • PVD-EWR-HAM Domestic to International Layover

Ive never done an international flight through EWR before. I was wondering, If I check my bag through at PVD then continue on my United Airways flight to EWR, During my hour and a half layover at EWR do I need to go through a security check? im just afraid my layover isnt long enough before reaching my gate to Hamburg Germany.

Both of your flights should be in Terminal C. All gates in Terminal C are connected inside security, so you will not have to go through security in Newark. Even if you were to arrive in Terminal A, there is a bus that United operates on the secure-side between Terminal A and Terminal C. You have enough time.

  • EWR to GRR w/30 minute Connection

Flying from BOS to EWR to Grand Rapids, MI with only a 30 minute connection when I land in EWR. Is that enough time to make my connection? I can't tell which terminal the Boston flight flies into and which terminal the GR flight flies out of

That will be very difficult considering your Boston flight will likely arrive into Terminal C and your Grand Rapids flight will definitely depart from Terminal A. United does run a shuttle inside security between the two terminals but it isn't exactly quick. If your flight from Boston is operated by United Express, though, it may arrive in Terminal A, which would leave you enough time to make the connection, assuming it's on-time.

The flight is operated by United Express

  • connecting from terminal a to terminal c

Hello We are travelling with united from Halifax NS to Costa Rica With a 55 minute transfer in Newark. How do I get from terminal a to terminal c, while staying within the secure section? Do I take the shuttle bus near gate a 28? What level should I be on? I don't have any time to make mistakes.

There are signs pointing to where the shuttle bus is when you arrive in A or if you don't see them ask a United employee.

  • Skip final leg- Newark luggage question
    Feb 11, 2015

Hi I am flying United from Punta Cana-Newark-Boston. We have decided to skip the Newark to Boston leg of the flight. My concern is getting my luggage in Newark. Is it true that since it is an international flight, I will have to get my luggage anyway? Can I just leave at that point? If I do it officially, united will charge me change fees for 4 people totally over $800. So, I need to confirm that I will have my luggage in hand due to it being an international flight? Is this true?

Yes, you will have to claim your bags anyway. Yes, as long as the Newark-Boston leg is the last leg of your trip, you can leave the airport in Newark after you claim your bags and go through Customs.
