  • Terminal C to Amtrak station
    Oct 27, 2012
My elderly mother and I are arriving in Terminal C and needing to get on board the Amtrak. Will one hour from landing to amtrak departure be enough time to get to the train?

Using public transportation, and with an elderly person in tow, I am not sure that you would make it within an hour. These are your public transport options: The AirTrain is free within the Airport and also connects passengers to NJ Transit and Amtrak Northeast Corridor train lines via the Newark Liberty International Airport Train Station. AirTrain Entry/Exit $5.50 is included on New Jersey Transit and Amtrak tickets to/from the Airport. The Newark Liberty Train station is a 7-minute ride to/from Terminal C. Tickets for the Airtrain are available at AirTrain Stations of each terminal. Travel time to Newark Penn Station 15 mins. Amtrak service on Northeast Corridor runs every hour between the Airport, Philadelphia and New York City. (Amtrak tel. 800-872-7245).

  • Post-security transfer from TA to TB?
    Oct 17, 2012
Is there a post-security bus to transfer from TA (arriving on an Air Canada flight, so already cleared US immigration) to TB (departing on United on an international flight) without having to exit-->Airtrain-->security? Have time, but want to avoid the hassle...especially over Thanksgiving...

The shuttle bus at EWR only runs between Terminals A & C, as alternative to the AirTrain serving all three terminals, but in their non-sterile /pre-security areas - meaning you will need to go through security check on arrival at Terminal B. The Airtrain runs on the newly-designated 'All Gates' levels (between levels 2 & 3).

  • Transit assistance
    Oct 14, 2012
2 non english speaking are coming to EWR from India and they have to take a United airlines flight to orlando ...Arriving by jet airways to terminal B at 12.30 and they have to go to Terminal c and catch United Airlines departing at 4.20 there any transit assistance available in EWR airport for elders and Non- English speaking passengers....

On arrival at EWR Airport, Terminal B, your couple will need to go through passport control, pick up bags, go through customs and (if Jet Airways transfers bags to United - find out) recheck-in bags where indicated. (If Jet Airways does not forward bags, they would have to take the bags and re-check them in at Terminal C's United airline counter). I suggest they speak to the flight attendant that they will need assistance on arrival at EWR (or call Jet Airways). Clear internationally understood signs are posted in all terminals. After customs clearance, they can take the Airtrain to Terminal C, where they need to go through security check before proceeding to their gate (located at either gateway 1 - gates C70-99; C2 - gates C101-115; or C3 - gates C120-139.

  • bus or airtrain
    Oct 14, 2012
Flying from Halifax to Newark and Newark to Tampa. I have 1 hour to go from terminal A to C. Should clear customs in Halifax. Am I better off to take the bus or train? How often does the bus go? Not sure of my gate yet until I get my tickets. I the bus free? First time in Newark. Thanks

At YHZ Airport go through US customs clearance, saving you time at EWR. Do make sure that your first airline transfers bags to your connecting one, otherwise you would need to claim your bag on arrival at TA and check it in at TC. You have enough time to take either bus or train - in both instances you need to go through security check at TC.

  • United International departures

Which Terminal does United Airlines depart from to Grand Cayman?

As a general rule United uses its exclusive Terminal C; however, some United domestic flights are now also available in Terminal A. Your ticket should indicate which terminal.

  • Connection Process
    Sep 24, 2012
I will arrive from Cleveland UA1044 18.25 on 6th Oct and need to connect with UA36 20.05 to Edinburgh. Believe they arrive at the same Terminal C. Can you tell me exactly waht I need to do re bag transfer etc in order to make the connection. Thanks

When checking in at Cleveland, make sure that your bags have all three airport codes on their tags; since you use the same airline that should suffice, as UA will transfer bags to connecting flights. However, UA uses for some domestic flights also Terminal A, in which case you would have to take the elevated Airtrain (signs will guide you) from TA to TC, then go through security check and on to your gate. In both instances you have enough time.

  • sky caps
    Sep 18, 2012
Are there sky caps available to check bags on the sidewalks outside terminal C? If so, on which level?

At EWR, Terminal C is the exclusive United Airlines terminal - Skycaps are in- and outside of the terminal. Contact United if they have outside check-in posts (not all airlines have): At EWR, Level 1 - Arrivals & Ground Transport; Level 2 - Economy check-in, PremierAccess check-in; Global Services & BusinessFirst check-in; Level 3 - Economy check-in, Group check-in, and Special Services; 'All Gates' level between levels 2 & 3 houses departing gates, restaurants & shops, and AirTrain Newark station.

  • Transfer from Terminal A or C to TB
    Sep 17, 2012
Can you clarify a couple of questions: --Is it possible to transfer via AirTrain from Terminal C or A to Terminal B post-security (without going through security again)? --is it possible to walk from C or A to B? How far is it and is there a sidewalk for pedestrians?

All three terminals at EWR are not accessible by sidewalk. They are, however, connected by the Airtrain, which serves the terminals' pre-security areas - meaning you need to go through security check at your connecting terminal before proceeding to your gate. The Shuttle Bus from Terminal C to Terminal A stops at gateway C1, near gate C71.

  • Terminal A to Terminal C

Later in Oct I will arrive at KEWR TA on UAL from Halifax, NS Canada and have 1 hour with my wife and 4 kids to get to a UAL flight in TC to Vegas. What's the best way to transfer, to avoid security if possible?

At YHZ Halifax Airport, make sure you go through US customs clearance. On arrival at EWR, you may either stay at Terminal A or will have to transfer to Terminal C (United uses both terminals for specific domestic flights. To connect you can take the AirTrain (serving pre-security, non-sterile areas of all terminals and free within the Airport) and get off at your connecting terminal within minutes - or you can also take the shuttle bus from TA to TC, however to get to your connecting gate you need to go through security check first. You have enough time.

Thanks for your help. I read in several places that UA's shuttle service operated between terminals post-security to avoid the security checks again.

I arrive from Israel at 4:40 pm and need to make a 6:30 pm flight to Raleigh on USAir. Is it doable?

All international arrivals come in at Terminal B of EWR Airport; thereafter they need to go through passport check, pick up bags, go through customs & re-check-in bags. However, if your Israel flight is with a different airline, make sure it will transfer your bags to US Airways - if not, you need to take your bags along to Terminal A, the domestic terminal & check them in with US Airways - TA can be reached by the AirTrain at pre-security (follow signs) within minutes, but you need to go through security check at TA before proceeding to your gate. Your time is adequate.

  • Terminal A to Terminal C Transfer
    Sep 19, 2012
I am traveling with elderly parents arriving at Terminal A from Indianapolis and flying to Munich from Terminal C. What is the easiest, fastest way from Terminal A to Terminal C? Thank you.

On arrival at EWR's Terminal A follow signs to the Airtrain connecting to Terminal C - at Terminal C you will need to go through security check before continuing to your connecting gate.

Thank you very much. Is there also a bus service within the terminal (rather than going through security again). We only have one hour 25 min to make our connection.

There is a shuttle directly from A to C but with only 25 minutes for a connection, you'll be pushing it either way. The bus doesn't run as soon as you get there so you may have to sit on it for a bit before leaving, then you have to travel across to C. Not only that, but you may find that the stop is at the opposite end of C (which is huge) than where your gate is. If that's the case, especially with 2 elderly parents... it could be a close call. On the other hand, the shuttle is much faster and if the lines at security are low, you might fly through. But if the lines are long, you're in trouble. In addition, the security screeners were, in my opinion, extremely rude and seemed to take pleasure in holding up the line and taking people out for extra screening. If it were me, I'd opt for the bus but you didn't give yourself much room to breathe on the schedule. You better hope your plane isn't late to begin with.

Thank you--our connection time is one hour and twenty five minutes (not just 25 min). My question is---IF we take the bus that goes from A to C--do we have to go through security again? It's my understanding that we would have to go through security again IF we take the Airtrain. I appreciate YOUR help. Thank you.

Sorry, I misread that as just 25 minutes. 1:25 is about the same amount of time I had to connect from A to C. No, if you take the bus from A to C there is no security check since the boarding stations for the bus are inside the terminal. You have to leave the secured area to get to the Airtrain so if you did take that, you would definitely have to go through security again when arriving at C. So, in summary: Bus - No Security Check; Airtrain - Security Check

Thank you SO much---this is what I was hoping for:). Last question--promise---where do I catch the bus--what level/near what gate in Terminal A? Thank you again--I really appreciate this info! Taking the bus will really help us with time.

I believe the door for the bus is next to Gate A28. It's the first gate on the right if facing the exit. Now, I'm not exactly sure if there are any other ways to get to the bus because I believe Terminal A is split into 3 round areas which are tiny. If you happen to arrive in one of the other two sections (not the A20s) then there might not be a bus terminal and, from what I recall, the security check was in the narrow hallway leading to the A20s area. So if you're not in the A20s, take a look for bus signs. It should be easy because, like I said, the areas are small. If there are none, then you'll likely need to go through Security to get to the bus. If that's the case, you might be better off just taking the AirTrain... Though I'd see if the line into the A20s is short. Though they might not even let you in if your boarding Gate isn't there. It IS an odd airport. Sorry I couldn't be more clear. I hope that helps.

  • dining outside security

i am flying out of a different terminal than my collegue.. is there a good dining spot BEFORE security?

My mother will fly from Istanbul to Newark (nonstop) on September 8th with United Airlines. Flight Arrives at Newark at 18:02 and she has to connect to Houston for 19:40 . Initially they told me she arrived in Terminal C later connection took off from Terminal C also. But on the LH site (where we got the ticket) it says Terminal B arrival and Terminal C for connecting flight. I think she still needs to go through passport/customs etc. and then clear security again? Can anyone tell me where this flight will arrive and if there is enough time to connect? Thanks so much

At EWR all international arrivals, with the exception of United, arrive at Terminal B. United uses exclusively Terminal C, and Terminal A for a limited number of domestic flights. On arrival she will have to go through passport control, pick up bags, go through customs clearance and then proceed to her connecting gate at TC, or take the Airtrain (follow signs) to TA, where she would need to go through security check before proceeding to gate. Ticket and overhead arrivals screens will indicate whether connecting flight is in TA or TB. Transfer time should suffice.

  • Transportaion from TB to TA
    Sep 4, 2012
I am arriving at international TB. But from there i need to go to TA and take the domestic flight to Florida. Airline at TB is NOT incharge of transferring the baggage from TB to TA. In this case what is the procedure to be followed? At which terminal is the baggage checkin, port of entry and other immgration checks done? Or do i have to collect all my luggage from TB and take it to TA using the "AirTrain" and then complete the immigration checks in TA ?

Terminal B at EWR is for international arrivals - you need to go through passport control, pick up bags, go through customs clearance, and go with your luggage on the Airtrain to Terminal A, where you need to check in your bag, then go through security check and on to your gate.

  • Terminal A to C Transfer
    Aug 29, 2012
I am arriving to Terminal A at 17.29 and need to catch an international flight from Terminal C at 18.12. What is the fastest way to get between A and C? Will I have to go through security again?

At EWR you have two options to connect from TA to TAC: (a) hop on the AirTrain (serving pre-security, non-sterile areas of all terminals and free within the Airport)taking minutes. (b) You can also take the shuttle bus from TA to TC. Both options require you to go through security check at TC. Concourse level has three gateways leading to (a) gate area C1 is arranged in a Y-shape, with gates C70 to C99; (b) Gateway C2 has gates C101 to C115; and (c) Gate area C3 has gates C120 to C139. The Shuttle Bus from Terminal C to Terminal A stops at gateway C1, near gate C71. The AirTrain Station is on the Upper Level's center.
