we are arriving from montreal at term A and leaving for st.maarten terminal C but have 58 minutes between , do we have to go threw customs ?

Use U.S. customs clearance at Montreal Airport, saving you time at EWR. On Arrival take the Airtrain (close to gateway A2) to Terminal C, where it arrives on the upper level's center, post-security. No need to go through security check again. You have plenty of time.

i am flying from belfast to newark and on to orlando, flight from belfast arrives at 13.50 and flight to orlando leaves at 17.25, do i have time to get through customs and to the other terminal???

    1. International flights (except those of United) depart & arrive at Terminal B. United passengers arriving from overseas and connecting to another domestic Continental flight will not need to switch terminals. HOWEVER, all international arrivals in the U.S. need to go through passport check, pick up bags, go through customs clearance & re-check-in their bags before proceeding to the next flight. That can take between 35-50 mins. Thereafter you can proceed to your connecting Terminal A which has 3 gate areas: A1 with gates A10-18, A2: A20-28; A3: A30-39 (on arrival look at the overhead screens to find your connecting flights, gate number and time). You find the Airtrain station connecting to Terminal A located close to gateway B2, arriving a Terminal A close to gateway A2. Count on at least half an hour to get to your connecting gate. You have plenty of time for eating or shopping.

Landing at Terminal A with connecting flight leaving Terminal C. Is 30 minutes enough time to catch connecting flight in Terminal C? What is best mode....AirTrain or Shuttle Bus?

For either AirTrain or shuttle bus connection at EWR, your time is extremely tight - if your plane arrives late, you are out of luck. The Airtrain, departing at TA departs on Concourse leel, post-security, close to gateway A2 and arrives at TC on upper level's center, post-security - however, as its loop includes parking lots & rental car complex, I can't tell you how often it comes around. The shuttle bus serves only the terminals - you can catch it at TA at gateway A2, near gate A28 and arrives at gateway C1, near gate C71. This is probably the better choice. NOTE: the 3 gateways at TC have gates C70-99, C101A-115A, & gates C12-130. You need to run!
