  • United Connecting Flight
    Jan 26, 2014
I am flying United from Europe into EWR (Newark) on 2/26 with a United connection flight to Texas on 2/27 from LGA (LaGuardia). Will I have to transfer my baggage to LGA or will United do it for me?

So you're flying into EWR and out of LGA? You will have to transfer your baggage yourself and need at least 4 hours for your connection.

thanks for responding! It's an overnight connection so timing isn't an issue. when i spoke to United straight they seemed to say they would transfer the baggage which on a 4 hr connection would be fine, but on an overnight connection I need my baggage. so i would def transfer myself?

They probably misunderstood you - airlines NEVER transfer baggage between airports.

Great! Thanks for the clarification!!! Awesome site!

  • Will I have enough time to make this connection?
    Jan 21, 2014
Hi, I plan on traveling on a standby ticket tonight from SEA to EWR to Cancun (CUN). I would arrive in EWR at 6:02am and then my flight from EWR to CUN would depart at 7:47am. I'm going from a domestic to an international flight (which looks like Terminal A to C), so will that hour and a half be enough time for me to make the connection? Thanks!

Assuming both flights are on United they will both be in Terminal C. United only uses Terminal A for United Express flights. You should have plenty of time.

Hello, im going from montreal to bogota but i have to do a connection in EWR from terminal A to terminal C. Somebody knows whats is the procedure ?

You will pre-clear US Immigration in Montreal. All you have to do in Newark is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. United runs a shuttle bus inside the secure area between A and C.

  • terminal change A to C in newark

leaving Moncton NB Feb 21 arriving in Newark terminal A leaving from terminal C going Florida Orlando will we do custom in NB or Newark some say NB some say Newark I"m confused Moncton is our last Canada city and will we have to collect our luggage in Newark and recheck them

Since there is not Pre-clearance in Moncton, you will not arrive in Terminal A on your way to florida. You will arrive in Terminal C and go through US Immigration there. YOu will then claim your baggage, go through customs and re-check it. Then go up to the departures level and go through security and to your departure gate which will also be in C. On your return from Florida you will only have to go from your arrival gate in C to your departure gate, which will likely be in A. United runs a shuttle bus inside security between C and A. You will not have to do any immigration or customs in Newark on your return trip.

thank you but our e ticket say arriving Terminal A leave from C I saw other post from someone that said same thing A to C I quess we have to see where we land have lots of time get in at 730 am leave at 10 am thanks so much for fast reponse

The info on your e-ticket is wrong. You have to clear immigration and there is no US Immigration located in Terminal A.

  • Moncton to Cancun with connection in EWR
    Jan 18, 2014
Hi, I am going to Cancun from Moncton, NB with a connection in EWR. It will be my second time ever on a plane, but the first time going directly from Moncton to Newark. I am flying on United Airline. Getting in Newark at 7:30AM at terminal A and leave at 9:09AM at terminal C. I am a bit stressed out as Moncton do not have per clearance. What will be the process once I arrive to the Newark airport? The travel agent said I will not go thru customs in Newark.... Im so confuse.

Your travel agent is wrong. Since you will have to clear immigration in Newark, your flight will arrive in Terminal C, not Terminal A. You will go through US Immigration, claim your baggage, go through US customs, and re-check your baggage with United. You will then go up to the departures level and go through security and to your departure gate which will also be in Terminal C. You should have enough time to do this. When you get to Cancun, you will then go through Mexican immigration and customs.

Thanks for the response! I am feeling a bit better now. Especially since you said we would have enough time going through all that. Just sucks that the travel agent is saying the wrong thing and that the terminals on my e-ticket don't show the right thing... but that part isn't a problem since I will still be leaving from C. So, it means I won't have to take a shuttle? I went to Texas last October as my first trip ever in a plane for work and we stopped in Newark, so it is my only experience in an US airport. And for this trip, I won it through work as a manager, so I can't talk directly to the travel agent but through the incentive trip representative. A big thank you. This website is awsome!

I am arriving in ewr on 02/02/14 from BHX on flight UA 26 and connecting with flight UA 1600 to LAX do I need to reclaim baggage then re check in

Yes, you will claim your bags after you go through immigration, then go through customs, then re-check them at the re-check desk. You will then go up to the departure level and go back through security and to your departure gate.

    Thank you

International arrivals at EWR need to go through passport check, pick up their bags, go through customs clearance & if continuing journey re-check-in their bag where indicated. Note that United uses Terminal C for all international flights, as well as some domestic flights, and uses some other domestic flights at Terminal A. If your connecting flight is at Terminal A, you get a shuttle running outside the C gates to the A gates (no need for security check). For details I suggest you open www.ifly.com/ewr then click on 'Terminal Map' under 'QUICK LINKS', and scroll down to the detailed text.

Both of your flights will be in Terminal C.

  • Dusseldorf Tampa Malpensa
    Jan 11, 2014
Hi, I'm flying A) On JEN/22/2014 From Dusseldorf (Germany) LH408 EWR 3:05pm Terminal B To Tampa LH 7772 Operated United Airlines 5:35pm Terminal C What to do? Clear immigration, custom, security in TB and then to go in TC by Airtrain (or United Shuttle bus?)? I don't have checked baggage just a carry-on luggage. B) On JEN/26/2014 From Tampa UA 1027 EWR 4:49pm Terminal C To Malpensa (Italy) UA19 EWR 6:35 Terminal C What to do? Thanks in advance for your advice. CP

On your trip to Tampa you will clear US Immigration and customs, then it would be fastest to take the AirTrain to Terminal C where you will go through security and to your gate. On your way to Milan you will only have to go from your arrival gate to your departure gate in Terminal C, which are all connected beyond security.

Very helpfull thank You very much ZAP! CP

The address is officially 344 Brewster road. Thanks for any help!

  • 36 minute connection time
    Jan 4, 2014
I am arriving from Honolulu at 11:50 AM and flying out at 12:26 PM. to Toronto. Both flights are UA. Change in terminals from C to A. 36 minutes. Do I have any chance of catching my flight.

It will be tough, especially if your Honolulu flight is delayed at all. However, United has lots of later flights to Toronto that you can be rebooked on if you miss your connection.

  • Quebec to Newark 1h connection
    Dec 31, 2014
Hi, I'm flying tuesday january 7th I have one hour connection in Newark. I will land in Terminal C at 8AM and fly from terminal C at 9AM also. I can't pre-clear US Custom at Quebec .. Will I have enough time to clear immigration, custom, pick your baggage etc ??

No, that's not a legal connection as the minimum connection time is 90 minutes in EWR for flights that require going through immigration and customs in EWR. As there's no earlier flight from YQB you can try to get lucky and make the connection, but prepared to be stuck in Newark for awhile if you can't be rebooked or there are no later flights to your destination.

90 minutes? United Airlines got me on that one I guess?.. I called them earlier and they told me I can make it on time .. maybe they'rnt aware I can't clear immigration and customs at Quebec .. there's no flight later on January 7th ..They gave me the choice to go on January 6th instead and I'd be at Newark at 7:36 AM and leaving at 9:09 .. but I need to book an hotel ..

  • Trip to England, UK January 11,2014
    Dec 29, 2013
I reserve my flights online using my frequent airline points. I will be flying from Montreal, Canada (YUL) to Newark (EWR) by United Airlines arriving terminal A. Then making a connecting flight from terminal C to London, England UK (LHR) by United Airlines. I looked at my itinerary the time is very tight, I only have approx. 80 minutes to run from A to C, will I have enough time to make my connecting flight? I have a limping leg which will slow me down a little, how far form TA to TC ? also since I travel from Canada do I have to check out my luggages at Newark then check in again for the flight to England? Please advise

You will pre-clear US Customs and immigration in Montreal. You will not have to claim your baggage in Newark. United runs a shuttle bus that runs inside security from Terminal A to Terminal C. If your first flight is on-time you should have plenty of time for your transfer.

  • Customs and security times at 7am
    Dec 22, 2013
How much time is it to clear customs on tuesday(24th dec) at 7am? Is this a particular peak time of day ?

A few flights from South America come in around that time. It's not a heavy peak time of day.

  • 40mins
    Dec 19, 2013
My travel agency insist 40 mins is enough time for me to connect in newark. I will be arriving from LAX at 4:55pm and hoping on a flight to GVA at 5:35pm. If the terminals are the same, will i have to go through security again, or straight to my departing gate? Thanks

Your arrival at & departure from EWR depends on which airline(s) you take. While Terminal A is handling all domestic flights, Terminal B handles all international flights. Exception: United uses exclusively Terminal C for some domestic and all international flights and Terminal A for some of its domestic flights. If you need to connect between TA & TC - take the shuttle bus between TA & TC - at TA (near gate A28), TC (near gate C71) - no security check needed. If you need to connect between TA & TB - take the Airtrain, in which case you would need to go through security check first.

Yes i am flying united all the way through. If i arrive in terminal C and depart from terminal C will i have to go through security once i land in newark

No, you will not have to go through security, you just have to go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. All gates in Terminal C are connected beyond security.

  • 40 min connection time possible?
    Dec 19, 2013
I am coming from Orlanda, with a 40 min connection time in Newark, with a final destination of St. John's, Newfoundland. Is this 40 mins a reasonable time? Do I need to change terminals? I would assume I have to do Customs in St. John's.

Yes, immigration will be in St. John's. It's doable, but it will be tough if you arrive in Terminal C and your St. John's flight leaves from Terminal A. You won't know until the day of your flight. They ARE connected beyond security by a shuttle bus but it will still be difficult.

  • Customs clearance and passport control
    Dec 17, 2013
Hi. I am flying soon from Oslo to Newark and then to Orland. Arrival and departure is on Newark terminal C. Will I do customs clearance and passport control in Newark or in Orlando? Will I have to pick up the luggage in Newark?

Yes, you will go through US Immigration, claim your baggage, go through US Customs, and re-check in Newark, then go to the departure level and go through security and to your departure gate to Orlando.
