Hello! I'll be traveling from Paris to Newark and then on to Boston during the week. I have a 1 hr 35 min layover in Newark. I'm a US Citizen with global entry, i think this will be enough time, any thoughts? Also any thoughts on arrival vs departure terminals?

With Global Entry you should be OK, especially if you don't have checked bags. You could arrive in Terminal B or C, but likely B. You will probably depart from C.

Are the Recheck Baggage Areas in terminals B and C easy to locate? I am arriving in Terminal C before transferring to Terminal B and then the process will be reversed on my return journey

Yes, there are re-check desks in B and C right after you clear customs. You can use them if your bag is tagged through to your final destination.

We are flying United from Nassau and Air Canada from Newark so have a terminal change. Will we need to go through security at Newark.?

I should say both flights have been booked through United so will I have to pick up my luggage or will it be transferred by United?

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Nassau. You will likely arrive in Terminal C. you could depart from Terminal C or A. If you depart from Terminal A, United runs a shuttle bus inside security to A.

I fly from Ottawa to Newark with UA at Terminal C. Having a connection plane, still with UA at Terminal A, to Orlando Florida . 1 hour 25 minutes to connect. Do I have enough time? Do I have to go through customs and claim my luggages?

You have your terminals reversed, you will arrive in Terminal A and depart from Terminal C. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Ottawa. United has a shuttle bus inside security between A and C. You should have enough time if your flight from Ottawa is on-time.

Thank you so much! When I am flying back from Orlando to Newark and transfering to Ottawa. I think the procedure is the same. No need to go thruogh the customs and to collect the luggage, right?

I should say I am still flying United when I am back.

Correct, there is no US Customs when leaving the US and you will go through Canadian Immigration and customs when you get to Ottawa.

I'm flying United Express (domestic) arriving at Terminal A (most likely where US Express lands) at 4:15PM and Departing from Terminal C at 5:35PM United to Costa Rica. Will there be enough time to Transfer?

Yes, that should be enough time. If you arrive in A, United operates a shuttle bus inside security between A and C.

Flying from Halifax to Newark with UA. Changing planes, still with UA, flying in Dublin. 1 hour to connect. Do I have enough time? Do I have to collect my bags.? Do I have to go through customs?

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Halifax. All you have to do in Newark is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You may arrive in Terminal A. You will depart from Terminal C. If you arrive in A, united runs a shuttle inside security to C. You should have enough time.

I am flying on UA flight from Sao Paulo to arrive in EWR at 7:40 am and take a connection flight to Los Angeles at 9:00 am. Do you think that 1 h 20 min for immigration process is enough time? Thank you

That is not enough time. You need to contact whoever you booked that ticket through and request a later flight to Los Angeles.

Flying from Costa Rica - Newark - Zurich through UA. Arrival and departure in Terminal C. Will I have to go through immigration and customs and will I have to collect my bags or are they checked through from Liberia?

Yes, you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security and to your departure gate.

hi, i fly from manchester to panama with a connection at newark. will i need to reclaim and re check my luggage? also i arrive at terminal b and leave at terminal c, how long would it take to get there? i have 2 hours 15 mins layover time, thanks

Yes, you will arrive in Terminal B, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, take the AirTrain to Terminal C, go through security and to your departure gate. You have barely enough time if everything goes smoothly.

your joking haha i didnt even know about this until i checked my flights and saw the terminals were different. looks like im screwed ha thanks for your help

Also, that's assuming you're coming from Manchester, England. If you're coming from Manchester, New Hampshire the process is much simpler.

YeH coming from England. So you think I'll struggle with it?

It's not impossible, but there's no room for anything to go wrong.

Thanks for your help. Good job I looked this up ha what'll happen if I miss it?!

Some nights there is a midnight flight to Panama City. If that exists the day of your trip you'll be rebooked on that. If not they will either book you on the next afternoon's flight to Panama City from Newark, or send you to Houston, have you spend the night there, and then take the next morning flight from Houston to Panama City.

I arrive in Newark via Southwest from San Diego at 4:30PM and have a connection at Aer Lingus departing for Dublin at 5:40PM. I will have no checked bags. Can I reasonably make this connection? Can I make arrangements in advance for passenger cart to take me from one terminal to the other?

Carts are for handicapped passengers. This is barely possible if everything goes perfectly. Personally, I wouldn't try it.

I am considering flying into EWR on Southwest (domestic) and out of EWR on United (Int'l, to Italy). How much time do I need, assuming I have to get my bags, check them in again, go through security, and customs? I'm looking at a 2hr gap but not sure its enough. Thanks

2 hours is barely enough. You will arrive in Terminal A, claim your bags, take them to Terminal C on the AirTrain, re-check them with United, and go through security. There us no US Customs when leaving the US. Personally I'd want a little more than 2 hours because EWR is known for delays and crowded in the afternoon.

I'm arrived from Shannon Ireland with 2 hour layover in Newark. Then I travel on to Boston. Do I need to collect my luggage? go through immigration? I will clear immigration in Shannon. Both flights are United. what terminal will I arrive into and fly on to Boston from. thank you

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Shannon and won't have to again or do anything with your bags in Newark. Both flights will likely be in Terminal C. There is a slight chance your flight to Boston may depart from Terminal A. There is a shuttle bus inside security connecting A and C.

Thank you very much for you response, I'm flying with my two small children so need to be prepared.

I will be arriving at Terminal B from Bogota with United airlines at 15;53 and my next flight is at 17:30 to AMS with United but in terminal C. Do I need to claim and recheck my bags if all the flights are with United?

Yes, you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, take the AirTrain to Terminal C, and go through security. This is a very very difficult connection.

United changed my fight to this: Fly in on United 1760 (from PDX) to terminal C at 6:58 AM, depart from terminal A on flight United 4447 expressJet (to MKE) at 7:40 AM - 42 minute layover! How often does the shuttle bus run? is this even possible? Thanks!

The shuttle bus runs often but it the trip takes close to 20 minutes. This will be a very difficult connection unless your flight from Portland arrives early.

Arriving on AA terminal A and take off on Lufthansa from terminal C what is the best way get to C with luggage?

Lufthansa does not use Terminal C. They use Terminal B. However, if your flight is operated by United it will use Terminal C. The only way between terminals is the AirTrain.

can you take luggage and cart on AirTrain

    Yes, you can

    Thanks!!
