Hi. I am looking at a flight pairing from Montreal to Newark and then Newark to Fort Meyers on United Airlines. It is on a Wednesday with the layover at around 2pm. I assume that customs clearance will be done in Montreal and baggage checked through to Fort Meyers. Is 52 minutes enough time to change gates? I will be travelling with my 20 month old baby (carrying her in a baby carrier, no gate checked items), of course providing the flights are on time...

Yes, 52 minutes is doable and considering it's at 2 PM, there's probably another flight to Ft. Myers after that if you miss your connection due to delays.

  • Connecting in Newark for Halifax

We have a flight from Atlanta to Halifax with a change connection in Newark. We have to get from Terminal C to A in 55 minutes. Does anyone know if we will have to reclaim baggage for customs/inspection; or can we check it thru from ATL?

You will not have to claim baggage in EWR. It will be checked through to Halifax in Atlanta. You will clear immigration in Halifax.

During a 5-hour layover we want to meet with friends who live in the Newark area. Is there a place we can meet for dinner and conversation with poeple who aren't taking flights? Thanks.

Open http://www.ifly.com, then click on EWR Airport Services under QUICK LINKS and choose "Restaurants & Stores", then click on your terminal.

Hi Im flying from Miami to Birmingham with a stop off at Newark airport there is 10 hours between my connecting flight. Am I able to leave the airport to visit new york if my baggage has been checked all the way through to Birmingham or do I have to check my baggage out and then re-check when I return to the airport?

Airline policies differ - it is best to contact your airline.

If your bags are checked through then you can leave/return to the airport as you wish. They will be transferred to your next flight despite the long connection.

Can I check my bag in Seattle all the way through to Lisbon even though I have to change planes in Newark. Is an hour layover in Neward enough to make my connection? Will it be better not check,m just have a carry on? Leaving June 13 return June 27. US Airway flight.

US Airways does not fly SEA-Newark or Newark-Lisbon. Are you sure you're not on United? An hour is tight, but doable. Yes, United would check your bags through to Lisbon in Seattle.

  • Terminal C to Terminal A from Shannon
    Feb 3, 2013
I'm flying into Newark on the 7th June from Shannon. Flight scheduled to land @ 11:20. My connecting flight to Nashville leaves from Terminal A @ 12:24. With the full pre-clearance facilities at Shannon and my bags checked all the way to Nashville can I make this connection? Thanks

Yes, assuming your flight is on time it should be pretty easy.

Hi. I'm flying in from the UK to Baltimore later this year, with a connection in Newark. Flights with United/United Express. Inward journey looks ok with a 2.5 hour layover at EWR. Return from BWI is a little tighter at 1.5 hours. On my return journey from BWI will my hold baggage be checked straight thru to the UK, i.e. will I have to collect it in Newark or will I just have to get myself and hand luggage from TA to TC and thru security. Should I be worried at the connection time at Newark? (on a Sunday in September)

Yes, your baggage will be checked straight through to the UK in Baltimore and you won't have to collect it in Newark. As long as your first flight is on time or close to it you'll have plenty of time. The other good thing is that United has lots of flights from Newark to London, so if you miss that one they can put you on another (assuming you're not already on the last one).

    Thanks Zap

Thanks for the reply ZAP. I'm actually returning to Manchester rather than London. There isnt a later flight to Manchester but there is one to London. If I missed my Manchester flight and United put me on the London flight (just to get me to the UK overnight), would they bear the cost of getting me to Manchester from London?

  • Terminal A to C

Im am leaving out of montreal to newark on a united flight and connecting on a united airlines flight two hours later. I will pass through security and clear US customs in montreal. Do i have to re pick up my luggage in newark and re-check them in? and do I have to go through security again?

On arrival at EWR, simply follow the Airtrain sign and board the train to Terminal C, where you need to go through security check before proceeding to your connecting gate. United will transfer your bags. Only international arrivals without US preclearance by participating airports need to go through immigration/customs clearance (as you will on your return).

    thanks alot!

  • Connecting from TC to TA
    Jan 21, 2013
Not familiar with this Airport. Coming from Canada via United, arriving at TA, and will have to clear US Customs there. Transfer to Terminal C for a United flight. Is it possible to connect while remaing in a secure area? Would it be better to connect via AirTrain or shuttle bus? We have 50 minutes if the flights are on time. Is this long enough?

I presume your Canadian Airport has no customs clearance, in which case you will, on arrival at EWR, Terminal C, need to go through passport check, pick up bags, & go through customs clearance and then re-check-in your bags. Thereafter you need to take the Airtrain to TA. (If you had US Customs clearance in Canada, you could use the shuttle bus or the train). 50 mins. should suffice in either case.

  • A to C in 20 min?
    Jan 20, 2013
I have to go from TA to TC in 20 min. Is that possible? And how do I do it without having to go thru security again?

At EWR you have to choices for transferring from TA to TC: 1. Hop on the AirTrain (serving pre-security, non-sterile areas on the Gate Level of all terminals and free within the Airport) and get off at your connecting terminal within minutes - however to get to your connecting gate you need to go through security check first. 2. You can also take the shuttle bus between TA & TC - at TA (near gate A28), TC (near gate C71). NOTE: Gates level of Terminal C leads to Gate Area C1, arranged in a Y-shape, with gates C70-99; Gate Area C2 (gates C101-C115); and Gate Area C3 (gates C120-139).

We will be on an arrival from denver to newark on United to terminal C. We have another United flight to RochesterNY. There is a 35 minute layover...any chance of making this if departure is still within Terminal C? Of course this is assuming first flight is on time...it is also the day before Easter.

On arrival at EWR, Terminal C, which has a 'Gates Level'with three gate areas: Gate Area C1, arranged in a Y-shape, with gates C70-99; Gate Area C2 (gates C101-C115); and Gate Area C3 (gates C120-139), you can easily make the switch within 35 mins; HOWEVER, do make sure that your departure to Rochester is also at TC, as United also uses Terminal A for some domestic flights - you would need to take the shuttle bus near gate C71 to gate A28.

what is the travel time from terminal A to terminal B at EWR airport

Are you sure you travel from A to B (or rather from B to A?) - Terminal B is for international arrivals, other than by United airlines. The Airtrain runs between all three terminals in the unsecured areas - at connecting terminal you need to go through security check before proceeding to gate.

The Airtrain runs between all three terminals in the unsecured areas - at connecting Terminal B you need to go through security check before proceeding to gate. Count on about half hour from gate to gate.

Two elderly couple travelling from memphis to chenna(india) They are flying In united airlines from memphis to EWR. then they are travelling BY jet airways from EWR to Chennai. under code share partners. whether checked baggages are transferred by airlines.

You need to contact United to make sure that they will transfer your bags at EWR to Jet Airways. If not, on arrival at EWR you would need to claim your bag at either United terminals A or C (domestic United terminals) and check them in at Terminal B's Jet Airways counter. Either way, you need to take the Airtrain connecting all terminals in the non-secured areas and go through security check before proceeding to your connecting gate.

  • Traveling with Dog Guide
    Dec 30, 2012
We will be arriving in terminal A and our connecting flight leaves from terminal C 1 hr. later. We will be traveling with a Dog Guide. Is there a place we can take the dog to relieve himself and still get through security in time to be boarded?

    1. Pet relief areas are located outside of the arrivals area of each terminal - follow signs there, or ask a Customer Care Representative for information. Owners are expected to clean up after their animals using available materials provided there. 2. The Airtrain runs between all three terminals in the unsecured area, meaning at Terminal C you will need to go through security check before proceeding to your gate. Do not hesitate to ask for assistance guiding you on arrival to the Arrivals level, on to the pet relief area, back to the Airtrain station and on to Terminal C. You should be able to make it within an hour.

  • Transit
    Dec 31, 2013
Hi, I will be flying to EWR airport via United Airline and transit to Hong Kong in Terminal C. As it is my first time, may I know the directions and if I need to check in my luggage again?

Presuming you arrive at EWR from a domestic flight, you land either at Terminal A or C, as United uses some domestic flights also in Terminal A. If arriving at Terminal A, you need to take the AirTrain (follow signs) to Terminal C, where you need to go through security check before proceeding to your gate. Terminal C has on the Gate Level three gateways leading to Gate Area C1 arranged in a Y-shape, with gates C70-99; Gate Area C2 (gates C101-C115); and Gate Area C3 (gates C120-139). If arriving at Terminal C, all you need to do is transfer to you connecting gate. If using United for both legs of your journey, your bags will be transferred - if not, you need on arrival claim your bags and re-check them in with connecting airline.

All passengers on international flights to EWR need to pick up their luggage and have it rechecked, even if EWR is not the final destination (transit). If you are flying from outside the US to EWR, you will need to recheck your bags.
