I am concerned that security may not be tight enough once you go through immigration and drop off your bags to be re-checked to your final destination. Mine is now missing. How do I explain to United baggage claim that the two men accepting my luggage felt, well, suspicious? (I didn't get a good feeling dropping it off...and am beating up myself for simply not taking it with me overnight).
Was your bag tagged to your final destination? If it was an overnight connection it probably wasn't and that's why your bag didn't end up at your final destination. If it was tagged properly, it's possible that they thought it was a bag that had missed its connection and not a bag that had a connection the next day.
The bag was tagged properly, yes. There was a problem with the tag, but the person accepting the bag asked a colleague for computerized help with the matter. The man at the computer waved the bagged on through to a storage area in the re-check baggage section. Short answer: The bag was tagged and tagged well.
Hi friends, I am a bit afraid of having enough time to do my connection in 2hrs 10 min in Newark. I will be arriving to NWR on Saturday at 4 p.m. with United from London Heathrow, my flight to San Pedro Sula is at 6 10 p.m. Could you please tell me if I have enough time? And what happens if I cannot make it? First time flying with United... Thank you very much
Yes, that is just enough time. If you miss your connection you will either be sent to Houston and then on a flight to San Pedro Sula from there or sent on the next day's nonstop flight from Newark to San Pedro Sula.
Thank you for your reply, I appreciate it. One more question, is it really true I will have to claim my luggage and check it in again as I had read in some of the older posts...? I have travelled a lot and have had many connecting flights but this never happened to me , always my luggage went straight through to my final destination.. Thank you
I will arrive Newark with United at terminal C at 3.40pm with a connecting flight to Europe from terminal B at 5.30pm. Will this be sufficient transfer time with only carry on luggage?
Is your first flight domestic? If so that's plenty of time. United runs a shuttle from Terminal C to their partner gates in Terminal B inside security.
No, I'm flying in from Providenciales, TC, and then on to Europe with SAS.
Then there's actually a good chance both flights will be in Terminal B. You will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, possibly change terminals on the AirTrain, and go through security. You have just enough time if everything goes perfectly.
Dear Friends, i am flying united airlines to Mexico and i have a 2 hrs 10 min in Newark airport. Will this time be sufficient to clear immigration, customs, picking luggage and finishing security. Please guide me.
Thanks in advance.
Where are you flying into Newark from?
I am flying from Mumbai. I have a USA visa.
Yes, that should be enough time if the flight from Mumbai is on-time.
Thanks for the response.
Hi, my fiance and I are honeymooning in Punta Cana DR. We have a 1 hour layover connection at EWR from LAX en route to the DR, on a United Flight. Is this enough time?
Yes, that is enough time. All you have to do in EWR is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, both in Terminal C.
Hello,
I ll be on a 1h40 transfer in Newark, arriving from Brussels on a Lufthansa flight and then taking a flight to Panama with UA for another transfer before getting to my final destination Costa Rica.
Do I have to go through customs? Or just walk straight to my next flight? Do I have enough time to catch my flight?
Thank you for your help.
Regards
Aude
Both flights will be on United. Yes, in Newark you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, possibly take the AirTrain to Terminal C, then go through security and to your departure gate. You have barely enough time if everything goes perfectly.
Hi, I have a connecting flight to LAX (from Europe). SAS coming in, UA going out, one reservation. How long time does it take to get from terminal B to terminal C? Do I have to collect my bags etc? I have a 1:35 hours transition window.
Yes, you will arrive in B, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then take the AirTrain to Terminal C, and go through security. You have barely enough time if everything goes perfectly.
hello, a client will transfer in Newark (arriving with UA from Hong Kong, departing with Copa to Panama), with seperate tickets and he only has1 hour transit time. is this enough? does he need to claim his luggage? thanks
No, he does not have enough time and that's completely impossible. You need to rebook him. He will have to go through US Immigration, claim his bags, go through US Customs, then possibly take the AirTrain to Terminal B, then re-check his bags with Copa then go through security. It's completely impossible to do that in an hour.
Hello, I have a connection time of 1 hour 5 mins in Newark. I will be arriving from Newark from Chicago (eta 8.45pm) and going to Edinburgh (flight leaves at 9.50pm). Judging by recent United flights, I should arrive at Terminal C and depart from Terminal C. Is this enough time? Do we just need to get off the Chicago flight and make our way to our departure gate? (No security or checked baggage?)
Yes, that is enough time if the flight from Chicago is on-time. Yes, all you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.
Thanks Zap!
Hi I am arriving at Newark terminal B from Europe (SAS flight) and will continue from terminal A to San Diego. Do I need to claim my luggage and recheck at terminal B? Is the air train the most simplest way to go between the terminals or can you walk between?
Best
What airline are you flying to San Diego? You will have to claim your bags to go through US Customs. Are your tickets purchased on one reservation or two separate reservations?
Ok thanks. I have made one reservation SAS to US and Alaska airlines to San diego.
OK, then you will arrive in Terminal B, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, take the AirTrain to Terminal A, get your Alaska boarding pass if SAS can't issue it, and go through security.
