Hi,

I'm flying in from Birmingham, UK to Newark, and then heading on to Washington-Dulles airport. My itinerary tells me that I need to go from Terminal B to C. Both of my flights are United flights. Will I need to reclaim my bags? Also, I am actually emigrating to the United States, so the border force will have additional things to do for me, and I suppose I have to go through that at Newark. I have a connection time of 2 hours and 30 minutes. Am I screwed, or do you think I'll be okay.

Also, if I could get a step by step guide on what to do to successfully connect to my Dulles flight in Terminal C, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
Yes, you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then take the AirTrain to your departure terminal (could be A or C) and then go through security and to your departure gate. You should have enough time. Yes, when you go through immigration you will have to go see an agent who will activate your emigration visa.
Also, you should have enough time if everything goes smoothly.
Thank you, Zap. :)
hi i am flying fro manchester to orlando however i have a 5 hour layover in newark and was wondering can i leave the airport? or can i go from the terminal back to the pre security as they have better shopping and food in the pre security area. if anyone has any idea would be a great help or any other options you have for something to do during the layover thanks!
Yes, you can leave the airport. You will be outside security when you clear US Customs. There is NOT better food and shopping pre-security at Newark, most of the food is inside security. You could buy a day pass to the United Club to spend time comfortably.
I booked a flight for Thursday noon (12:45pm) in march from DFW with AA. I should arrive at 5:07pm in EWR Terminal C. My next flight is with Lufthansa to MUC from Terminal B at 8:45pm. Since the tickets are booked with different airlines and the plane from DFW has a on-time rating of only 50% last month I feel like it still could get a little tight. According to flightstats the avg. delay is around 45 min.

I do have to get my luggage transit from C to B and then check in, go through customs again and make it to my flight, right?

Does anyone know if AA would responsible if the flight has a delay of more then one hour and I can't catch my flight?
AA does not use Terminal C. They use Terminal A. You should have enough time. You just need to claim your bags, take them on the AirTrain to Terminal B, re-check your bags with Lufthansa and go through security. Since you purchased two separate reservations, AA has no responsibility if you miss your connection. There is no US Customs when leaving the US.
Thank you very much for your explanation! I really hope that the plane just won't be late.
How easy is customs? I only have 1 and 15 minutes to catch my plane to Seattle. I am flying from the DR so will need to go thru immigration in terminal C
You may arrive in Terminal B. That is not enough time for an International to Domestic connection in Newark. 90 minutes is the minimum and 2 hours is more reasonable.
I am flying on a United flight from Rome to Newark with a 1 hour 30 minute connection to a SFO bound flight on United. Is that enough time to clear US Customs and go through Security for the SFO flight, with no checked luggage?
Without checked bags, I think you can make it if everything goes smoothly.
Thanks...what is the quickest way from Terminal B (arrival from Rome) to Terminal C (departure to SFO)?
Since you will already be outside security when you clear Customs and re-check your bags, take the AirTrain to Terminal C and then go through security.
I am arriving at terminal b united airlines flight from Scotland we are catching a united airlines onward connection to Las Vegas from terminal c we have 2 hours 10 minutes is this enough time
Yes, that should be enough time if everything goes smoothly.
Thanks so much puts my mind at ease
DS are you going for the fight?
No just a holiday
Ah right, nice one ,enjoy :)
Hi, I'll be fly to Orlando from Dublin via Newark. Landing in terminal B and having to transfer to terminal C. Will my checked bags automatically transfer to United flight? Will I have to go through security again or can I go directly to my departure gate in Terminal C?
What airline are you flying to Newark?
I'm flying Dublin to Newark with Aer Lingus
If it's one reservation then your bags will go automatically and then you just have to take the AirTrain to C and go through security. If it's two separate reservations you will have to claim your bags from Aer Lingus in B, take them to C on the AirTrain, re-check them, and go through security.
Thank you so much 😊
Hi my mother is flying to Boston for a funeral on Saturday from Shannon she has a layover of 50 minutes in Newark will her bag go straight through of will she have to collect it she's elderly and not very quick on her feet
I arrive at 1305 on United into terminal B and then have 1hr 54 min to get connecting flight on united to Las Vegas at 1459 terminal C is this enough time and what is the best route from B to C many thanks for your advice.
Since you will already be outside security when you clear US Customs in Terminal B, take the AirTrain to Terminal C and then go through security there. You have just enough time if everything goes smoothly.
We are arriving into Newark from Dublin where we will have already cleared US Immigration. We are connecting to Fort Lauderdale. Will 55 mins be enough time??
Yes, if both flights are on United that is enough time. You just have to walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate in Terminal C.
Yes. Both flights are with United. It's good to know we don't have to go through security again. Thanks!!!
We are scheduled to arrive in Newark at 11:30am from Dublin on a Sunday and have two options for flight back to Atlanta: one leaving at 1:45pm and one at 4:45pm. The two legs are on two different airlines. I'd rather get home earlier but am worried the 1:45 won't be enough time. We plan not to check bags. Thanks!
Since you pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Dublin and have no checked bags. I think you can make the 1:45 flight if you check in for your Atlanta flight online before leaving Ireland.
Thanks!
