We are flying from Dehli to Newark and then connecting on to Calgary Alberta Canada. We arrive in terminal C, and leave from Terminal A. Do we have to go through U.S. customs? We have 2 hour connection, will that be enough time?

Yes, you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, take the AirTrain to Terminal A and go through security. You should have just enough time. Note that if you are Indian citizens you will need a US Transit visa.

  • 1h25 to catch my connection

I'm lying from Sweden with SAS to Newark and then catching a connection with United to L.A. I have only 1h25 so I was wondering if this would be enough ? Any tips on how to be extra efficient with my time management once I land ? Many thanks !!

That's 5 minutes shorter than the recommended minimum international to domestic connection time and 35 minute shorter than what I recommend. I would contact whoever booked your ticket and ask for a later flight to LAX.

  • Landing in EWR Terminal C gate C131 connecting flight SAS SK910

So the title pretty much gave all the information. I'm currently in flight, and my flight is apparently late (UA368). I will arrive at Terminal C gate C 131. Will 1 hour and 15 minutes be enough to make it, for my connecting flight in Terminal B? (SK910)

United runs a shuttle bus inside security between C and B, but it leaves from the opposite side of C as C131 - It's still possible for you to make your connection.

am flying with united express flight from ottawa to EWR terminal A then got to get to terminal C for my fligth with united to SJU airport. do i have enought time and do i need to past threw security

Depends on for how long a layover you've got :) i would say 1 hour and 30 minutes should do it. I'm not an expert on Newark, my first time there, but i've got some experience with airports. And yes... You might need to get through security.

Please ignore the above post. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Ottawa. United runs a shuttle bus inside security between A and C. You have plenty of time as long as your flight from Ottawa is on-time.

I will be flying united from St. Johns NL connecting in Newark then leaving to Denver Co. United all my flights. I haven't flown this way before, so I have 2 hours here. Do I have a lot to go through and how far will my terminal be from where I arrive? Customs and TSA?

You will both arrive and depart in Terminal C. You will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go through security and to your departure gate. You should have enough time.

  • time to connect from Copenhagen to Austin; from terminal B to C

In early June, we will fly from Copenhagen to Austin, Texas on SAS. First leg from Copenhagen lands in Newark. We have 1 hour and 45 minutes to get through customs and from Terminal B where the Copenhagen flight lands to Terminal C, where the Newark to Austin flight will depart. Is that enough time? How do you get from B to C? Thanks.

You will arrive, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then take the airtrain to Terminal C, go through security and to your departure gate. You should have enough time if everything goes smoothly.

I'm flying from IAD-EWR-MAN all with United Airlines and have a 1h10mn connection time, is this going to be enough? Will I have to go through any security again in EWR?

No you do not have to go through security. You will arrive in Terminal A or C and depart from C. If you arrive in A, United runs a shuttle bus inside security to C. You should have enough time.

So I arrive in Newark in terminal A and have to go to B for my flight out to sweden. I know I have to take the Airtrain to get to it but where is the Airtrain located? Will I be able to find it easily?

There are plenty of signs for the AirTrain. Also United runs a shuttle bus inside security from their gates in A to the gates that SAS uses in B.

Thank you so much! I didn't know that! Are there plenty of signs for that too? I've never flown before so I'm trying to figure out all this stuff beforehand

Flying from Chicago to Munich via EWR, Chicago to EWR is United, and EWR to Munich is Lufhansa, layover at EWR is 1 hour 55 mins, tickets purchased thru Lufhtansa, will i have to go thru customs at EWR or re-check bags and is the time enough? it says Chicago to EWR arrive on Terminal C and EWR to Munich depart Terminal B

There is no US Immigration or Customs when leaving the US. You just have to take the United shuttle bus from C to B and to your departure gate. You have plenty of time.

    Thank you

  • Is there a shuttle from terminal A to terminal B?

I am flying from CLT-EWR-OSL and need to transfer from Terminal A (American Airlines) to Terminal B (SAS). Can I do this without having to go through security again?

No, you can't. The shuttle that United runs uses a different satellite of Terminal A than your American Airlines flight will arrive at. You will have to take the AirTrain and go through security again.

Ok-- how much time do you estimate it will take? i have a 2 hour layover. Thank you.

What time does the TA&TC shuttles stop/start?

As far as I know they operate whenever there are still United departures, so probably 5 AM to Midnight.

Thanks for the prompt reply. On my return journey from Costa Rica to London with United, I will be transiting through Houston instead of Newark . Is the procedure the same there?

Actually, going through Houston you will not have to claim your bags, but you still have to go through US Immigration, Customs, and Security.

Next month I will be flying from London to Costa Rica with a stop of about two hours at Newark. Both flights will be with United. Will I have to claim my baggage and then check it in again?

Yes, in London you will arrive, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go to Terminal C if you arrived in Terminal B, and go through security and to your departure gate.

Sorry, I meant In Newark and also that should be enough time.

  • Is 1h35 enough time to change planes?
    Jan 5, 2016

I'm looking at flights from Costa Rica to the UK. There is one option that arrives from UK at 8.25pm and leaves at 10pm giving a 1h35 to change planes. Is this enough? Will i have to change terminals, collect baggage inbetween etc? Really don't want to miss the flight!

It's barely enough time if everything goes smoothly. If there are any issues you will be stuck in Newark overnight. You will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags, and go through security in Newark.

Hello, I am flying to DC via Newark on Friday from Madrid. Do I need to take my baggage and drop it at the United counter once I have landed in NY? Also, I arrive to Terminal B but my flight to DC departs from Terminal A, how do I get there? Thank you!

You will arrive, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk immediately after, then take the AirTrain to your departure terminal and through security.
