  • Is 1hr 49m enough time to change flights and terminal

Arriving from London Heathrow at 13:10 on United UA 28 and connecting to United 4909 to Richmond departing at 14:59, says change of terminal? Would this be doable or too much of a rush? Thank you for any help

You will arrive in Terminal B or C, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then take the AirTrain to Terminal A, go through security and to your departure gate. You have just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

  • Forced flight change now very short transit time

We are flying United form Belfast to Orlando with a change in Newark. We originally had a 3-hour layover so plenty of time to get the connecting flight. I have just had an email from united saying the Newark to Orland flight has been changed, the original flight is now not showing on any booking sites. The new flight is due to take off 1 h 35m after the schedule arrival of the Belfast flight it is a Friday arrival 1:35pm departure 3:10pm. Has anyone done this sort of transit time at Newark at that time of day, is it doable, the later flight would be a 5h 45m layover. My Daughter has just said as we are flying with United right through and they have changed it, go for it. If you don't make it, they have to get you on the next flight. The problem I see with that is we have 5 travelling, would they have room on the later flight and we then have a 5h 45m wait anyway.

Yes, you are correct, while 95 minutes is possible it's very difficult and you are right that it's definitely possible there would not be 5 seats available on the later flight. It's your call, There's definitely a chance your flight from Belfast could be early and then the connection you have wouldn't be difficult.

It looks like both the inbound flight and the outbound flights are terminal C, so no terminal change if that helps. The last time I used united I had to change terminals for the domestic flight (San Diego)

I am traveling from Lisbon 2nd May on a United Flight and will be leaving for Panama 2 hrs 10 mins later also on a United Flight. I believe that I arrive Terminal B and leave Terminal C. Is that enough time to make the connection?

I forgot to mention that I will have checked luggage!

That's just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

    Thanks

Arriving from Belfast with United on June 17th at 13.35pm terminal C and trying to get a connection to Boston from terminal B at 15.25 with luggage booked through, can I make it

What airline do you plan on taking to Boston? United won't check your bags through to a different US domestic airline. I don't think you could make that.

Just double checked and it looks as if both legs are out of terminal C all flights are with United, thanks

In that case you have just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

let me know how you get on as I have slightly less time. Same as you we are going from Belfast

  • How much time ?

I arrive EWR from Frankfurt with Lufthansa . Landing at 15:45. I need to go through Immigration, collect my luggage, Customs , rebook luggage and take my next flight to SFO ( San Francisco). I can take Virgin America at 17:45 - Is it enough time?

No, that is not enough time for an international to domestic connection on two separate reservations with checked baggage.

Thanks for the answer. Thus, what should be the minimum connection time for International (Lufthansa) with Domestic (United)?

If everything is on the same reservation, 2 hours would be enough time.

  • Enough time for connection ? Need to recheck baggage

Hi, I am flying United airlines from HKG to EWR then to YYZ. My stopover in EWR is only 1hr30min. Is that enough time for me to catch my flight back to YYZ? (I arrive at terminal B and depart from terminal A) Also, do I have to claim my baggage and recheck it in again during the connection?

Yes, you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US CUstoms, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go to your departure terminal, through security and to your departure gate. You have just enough time if everything goes perfectly. Also, note that the Hong Kong flight usually arrives in Terminal C, not B.

  • Changing terminal

We are flying United from Hamburg arriving at 11.30 in terminal B with a connecting flight at 12.59 to Los Angeles from terminal C. Will we have time to pick up luggage, go through immigration, re-check luggage and then change terminals? We are travelling 2 adult and 3 children!!

I really don't think that is enough time. However, United flies hourly flights from EWR to Los Angeles. However, as it sits, this is below the minimum international to domestic connection time in Newark, so you should get whoever booked this to change you to a later flight to LAX preemptively without a change fee.

  • Gate checking luggage

I am flying in United from St. Louis to Rome - changing planes in EWR. If I have to gate check a carry on, will it come up at the plane or get sent through with the rest of my luggage?

It depends how you gate check. If you gate check with the Green tag that doesn't have to be written on by the agent when the bag is tagged, then it will be brought up to the gate in Newark. If you gate check and your final destination is put on the bag by the agent, then it will go to the baggage claim in Rome.

I'm flying United from Madrid arriving at 2:05pm with a connecting flight at 4:05 pm to Los Angeles. I'm a Us citizen. Will I have time to pick up luggage, go through customs, re-check luggage then probably change terminals? How long does it normally take to do this? Thanks

Yes, you will arrive in Terminal B or C, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, take the Airtrain to Terminal C if you arrived in B and go through security and to your departure gate. You have just enough time if everything goes smoothly. If you miss your connection, United flies hourly flights from Newark to LAX.

Arriving EWR terminal A at 11:30 from Toronto on United.. I have to make a 14:15 flight to Lima out of terminal C on United. that is 2hrs 45min to clear customs and make my connecting flight. Do I need to worry?

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. All you have to do in Newark is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. United runs a shuttle bus inside security from Terminal A to Terminal C. There is no US Customs when exiting the US.

  • connecting flights - rechecking of bags

Hi we are travelling as a party of 5 in August, flying from Newcastle, UK, into Newark and than onto Orlando. We have 2hrs 10mins between flights on our arrival and 1hr 2mins between flights on our departure. We have had connecting flights previously through Atlanta airport but we had around 4hrs between flights on both arrival and departure will 2hrs 10mins and 1hr 2mins be a bit tight on time or should we be ok? we have not travelled through Newark before so I am not sure how easy it will be to get from arrival to departure points All / any advice would be very helpful. Thank you in advance

On your way to Orlando, you will arrive in Terminal B, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, take the Airtrain to Terminal C and go through security and to your departure gate. On your return you just have to walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, both in Terminal C. You should have enough time both ways.

We are flying United getting into terminal A, changing planes to terminal C (Italy). We only have 1 hour.. Will this be enough time?

Yes, if the first flight is on-time that is enough time. United runs a shuttle bus inside security from A to C.
