  • Dublin-Newark then Newark-Orlando

Hi, I'll be fly to Orlando from Dublin via Newark. Landing in terminal B and having to transfer to terminal C. Will my checked bags automatically transfer to United flight? Will I have to go through security again or can I go directly to my departure gate in Terminal C?

What airline are you flying to Newark?

I'm flying Dublin to Newark with Aer Lingus

If it's one reservation then your bags will go automatically and then you just have to take the AirTrain to C and go through security. If it's two separate reservations you will have to claim your bags from Aer Lingus in B, take them to C on the AirTrain, re-check them, and go through security.

    Thank you so much 😊

Hi my mother is flying to Boston for a funeral on Saturday from Shannon she has a layover of 50 minutes in Newark will her bag go straight through of will she have to collect it she's elderly and not very quick on her feet

I arrive at 1305 on United into terminal B and then have 1hr 54 min to get connecting flight on united to Las Vegas at 1459 terminal C is this enough time and what is the best route from B to C many thanks for your advice.

Since you will already be outside security when you clear US Customs in Terminal B, take the AirTrain to Terminal C and then go through security there. You have just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

We are arriving into Newark from Dublin where we will have already cleared US Immigration. We are connecting to Fort Lauderdale. Will 55 mins be enough time??

Yes, if both flights are on United that is enough time. You just have to walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate in Terminal C.

Yes. Both flights are with United. It's good to know we don't have to go through security again. Thanks!!!

  • Dublin to Newark, then Newark to ATL connection time

We are scheduled to arrive in Newark at 11:30am from Dublin on a Sunday and have two options for flight back to Atlanta: one leaving at 1:45pm and one at 4:45pm. The two legs are on two different airlines. I'd rather get home earlier but am worried the 1:45 won't be enough time. We plan not to check bags. Thanks!

Since you pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Dublin and have no checked bags. I think you can make the 1:45 flight if you check in for your Atlanta flight online before leaving Ireland.

    Thanks!

  • Ariving from SYR to EWR connection to MBJ (Jamaica)

Hello. Inexperienced flyer here. We are leaving Syracuse and arriving to EWR at 7:21am. Our connecting flight to MBJ (Jamaica) leaves at 8:24am. Is that enough time? Just 1 hour?

Yes, that is enough time if everything goes smoothly. You just have to go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. If you arrive in Terminal A, then United runs a shuttle bus inside security to Terminal C where you depart.

I'm flying with United from Grand Rapids to Newark arriving in Newark at 5.15pm. My connecting flight is with BA to Heathrow departing at 6.40pm from terminal B. Do I have enough time and will I have to go through security again at terminal B?

Yes, you will have to go through security again in Terminal B. If you have checked bags you'll have to transfer them yourself, in which case I'm fairly sure you don't have enough time. Without checked bags you might barely have enough time if everything goes perfectly.

Hi, I'm arriving in Newark from Milaukee and if I'm correct it's into terminal A, I know I don't have to re-check baggage or go through immigration. But I was wondering what I do once I'm off the plane? I've never been on a connecting flight before and was wondering where I go once I'm through the gate. Also how do I get to gate C from A, is it possible to walk there as I don't know where I'd get the train from? Thank you

The best way is actually to take a shuttle bus directly from A to C which runs inside security. If you ask any United employee where they shuttle to C is if you can't find it yourself, they'll immediately know what you're talking about.

Okay thank you, where can I get this shuttle from? Do I need to go through security before my connecting flight once I'm off the plane in my arrival into Chicago?

The shuttle leaves from the lower level near the United Express gates in A. By using the shuttle you avoid having to go through security again in C. By "Chicago" do you mean "Newark"?

  • Lost baggage for 9-day business trip requires replacing suits
    Jan 9, 2017

My best suits, plus accessories, were in my bags, along with gifts, some of them purchased abroad. I don't have receipts for anything (never had a problem with lost luggage). Can I get reimbursed for clothing I will need and for my overseas gifts (nothing too fancy, just t-shirts and sweatshirts, but international postage is involved)?

You'll have to contact your airline.

  • Problems with lost luggage when re-checking bags
    Jan 8, 2017

I am concerned that security may not be tight enough once you go through immigration and drop off your bags to be re-checked to your final destination. Mine is now missing. How do I explain to United baggage claim that the two men accepting my luggage felt, well, suspicious? (I didn't get a good feeling dropping it off...and am beating up myself for simply not taking it with me overnight).

Was your bag tagged to your final destination? If it was an overnight connection it probably wasn't and that's why your bag didn't end up at your final destination. If it was tagged properly, it's possible that they thought it was a bag that had missed its connection and not a bag that had a connection the next day.

The bag was tagged properly, yes. There was a problem with the tag, but the person accepting the bag asked a colleague for computerized help with the matter. The man at the computer waved the bagged on through to a storage area in the re-check baggage section. Short answer: The bag was tagged and tagged well.

  • 2 hrs 10 min transit time to Honduras

Hi friends, I am a bit afraid of having enough time to do my connection in 2hrs 10 min in Newark. I will be arriving to NWR on Saturday at 4 p.m. with United from London Heathrow, my flight to San Pedro Sula is at 6 10 p.m. Could you please tell me if I have enough time? And what happens if I cannot make it? First time flying with United... Thank you very much

Yes, that is just enough time. If you miss your connection you will either be sent to Houston and then on a flight to San Pedro Sula from there or sent on the next day's nonstop flight from Newark to San Pedro Sula.

Thank you for your reply, I appreciate it. One more question, is it really true I will have to claim my luggage and check it in again as I had read in some of the older posts...? I have travelled a lot and have had many connecting flights but this never happened to me , always my luggage went straight through to my final destination.. Thank you

I will arrive Newark with United at terminal C at 3.40pm with a connecting flight to Europe from terminal B at 5.30pm. Will this be sufficient transfer time with only carry on luggage?

Is your first flight domestic? If so that's plenty of time. United runs a shuttle from Terminal C to their partner gates in Terminal B inside security.

No, I'm flying in from Providenciales, TC, and then on to Europe with SAS.

Then there's actually a good chance both flights will be in Terminal B. You will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, possibly change terminals on the AirTrain, and go through security. You have just enough time if everything goes perfectly.

Dear Friends, i am flying united airlines to Mexico and i have a 2 hrs 10 min in Newark airport. Will this time be sufficient to clear immigration, customs, picking luggage and finishing security. Please guide me. Thanks in advance.

Where are you flying into Newark from?

I am flying from Mumbai. I have a USA visa.

Yes, that should be enough time if the flight from Mumbai is on-time.

    Thanks for the response.

Hi, my fiance and I are honeymooning in Punta Cana DR. We have a 1 hour layover connection at EWR from LAX en route to the DR, on a United Flight. Is this enough time?

Yes, that is enough time. All you have to do in EWR is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, both in Terminal C.
