  • 1 hour 20 min connect in EWR

I am arriving EWR from SNN on UA 24 at 11:25am on 9/16/16, connecting to UA3659 from EWR to MCI, departing at 12:45pm. Not sure the terminals. Is this realistically enough time to clear Immigration and Customs and make the flight? And if not, why does United keep saying it is? Only other connection option is UA3638 departing at 6:59pm, but don't want a 7 1/2 hour layover in EWR if we don't have to.

Also looking at outbound flight UA 3324 from MCI to EWR arriving EWR 6:40pm, connecting to UA 25 EWR to SNN, departing EWR at 7:35pm. Is 55 minute connection domestic to international on United enough time?

On your way from Shannon you will pre-clear uS immigration and customs in Shannon. All you have tod o in Newark is go from youra rrival gate to your departure gate both ways. You should have enough time. If you have to go between Terminals A and C, United has a shuttle bus inside security.

  • 1hr 45mins for between connecting flights sufficient?

Hi -- I have a domestic flight with United from LAX which gets into EWR at 6:40PM on a Monday evening and I need to transfer onto an international flight to Lisbon, which leaves EWR at 8:25PM. The international flight is also with United. So, I would have 1hr 45 mins for the connection. Is that a sufficient time for the connection? (There is an earlier flight available from LAX but it is $400 more expensive.) Thanks!

You'll be fine, as your flight from LAX arrives at Terminal C, and your flight to Lisbon departs from Terminal C. You don't need to worry, just walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

1h 45m is plenty of time. Get yourself some food or something to drink, take a bathroom break, shop a little, you surely have time for all that :).

I have a 1-hour layover between a flight arriving from Louisville to Newark (EWR) in Terminal A, and a flight departing EWR for Edinburgh, Scotland at 10:00pm. Is this enough time to take the Air Train and go through security for Terminal C? Does the shuttle between terminals A and C run this late at night, and where can I find the shuttle schedule? I'm checking two bags and flying United - will I have to retrieve my checked bags, or will those be transported to the Edinburgh-bound plane? Thank you!

Yes, the shuttle should still be running. I highly suggest taking the shuttle. You won't have to do anything with your bags. You have enough time.

Hi, I have a flight from Copenhagen to EWR on 29th of May departure terminal B at 12.55h and then I have another flight to Savannah 15.11h from terminal A. Is it possible to do that in 2.15h? And another question what I have to do with luggage after migration post if flight to Savannah is connecting flight?

That's barely enough time if everything goes perfectly. After you clear immigration, you will claim your bags, go through US Customs, then re-check your bags at the re-check desk.

Flying from India on Aug 7th, arriving EWR by Air India on Aug 8th 07 55 am. Proceeding to Indianapolis by Delta 4087 from LGA at 11 55 am. Layover is 4 hrs. is this time sufficient to clear customs at EWR and reach LGA? Pl guide

No, I don't think that is enough time. It takes about 2 hours to reach LGA from EWR at that time of day.

  • 53 minutes enough

Hi will be flying in from Ottawa Canada (will have done US customs clearance in Ottawa - only a 53 minute layover to fly to Santa Anna -- is that enough time??

Yes, that should be enough time. You will likely arrive in Terminal A and depart from Terminal C. If you do arrive in Terminal A, United runs a shuttle bus inside security to Terminal C.

  • Time to catch connecting flight

Arriving in Terminal C 7:01AM and leaving from Terminal A 7:50 AM. No checked baggage...will I have enough time to catch my connecting flight?

If both flights are on United/United Express it is enough time if the first flight is on-time. United runs a shuttle bus inside security from Terminal c to their gates in Terminal A.

  • Newark airport connections for international flight

Hi, My girlfriend and I are flying on United airways from Belfast to Newark tues 10/5/16 arriving at 1:40pm at terminal B. We then leave for Orlando using United At terminal C at 14:55 is this doable? Do we need to go through passport control at both terminals? And do we need to collect and reload luggage again in Newark? Do we take the air train between terminals? Any advice/ info appreciated.

No, 1 hr 15 mins is not enough time to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, take the AirTrain to Terminal C and go through security.

Sorry just checked bookings its 2:15 mins between the the flights. Would that be enough time? The thanks

Yes, that would be just enough time.

let me know how long each part takes if you could, as I am doing this later this year but don't have as long as you. If you can let me know timing from getting off, going through immigration to dropping bags after customs, then after clearing security and getting to the gate. The Belfast flight normally goes into terminal C so unless its different for your flight no terminal change.

Well got to Orlando! The United flight from Belfast left an hour late but managed to make up most of the time only arriving 10 mins past original schedule in Newark. Immigration and passport control were not too bad 20-30 mins max. However, the queue for the TSA security was insane literally queues the full length on the airport. To get through security took about an hour and we ran through and just caught our plane to Orlando. It was certainly cutting it fine. /if the security queues in newark wern't so insane we would have had plenty of time.

thanks, I noticed the delay and how they made the time up. we may be able to use the express security lane. if not it will be tight as we only have 1 hour 35

  • Transfer from London to Columbus

We're arriving at EWR (Terminal B) with BA0189 from London Heathrow at 7.40 PM and transfer to (Terminal C) UA3310 at 21.26 to Columbus. Is this doable? Can we check the luggage all the way from London to Columbus or do we carry it through customs and do we go through immigrations at EWR or CMH? We are Swedish citizens with approved ESTA.

If you purchased two separate reservations your bags will not be checked through and regardles you will have to carry your bag through US Customs in Newark. I do not think this connection is reasonably possible.

We are flying in to EWR from OSL and then connecting to LAX all via United. According to United connect time is 1 hr 14 min. This seems tight but I bought directly from United, Is the connection time do-able?

No, that's not doable. If you haven't booked it yet, book the flight to LAX an hour later, if you miss your connection there are almost hourly flights from EWR to LAX.

I am flying from London to Newark and on to Savannah. I want to purchase alcohol from duty free in London but am not sure if I will have to go through security again in Newark after clearing customs. How does this work?

Yes, you will have to go through security in Newark. You have to put your duty free liquor in your checked bags before you re-check them in Newark. If you are not checking bags then you can't purchase duty free liquor.

I have a connection from Norfolk, to an overseas destination but don't know the gates. I have a little over an hour in between flights, is that enough time , or do I have to go through a security check again?

If both flights are on United then you won't have to go through security. You will likely arrive in terminal A and depart from Terminal C. United runs a shuttle bus in between them inside security. If that's the case you have enough time.

  • Connecting flight from Ottawa, Canada to Miami
    May 4, 2016

I am arriving at EWR from Ottawa, Canada and connecting to a flight to Miami all on United. I arrive in terminal A and need to get to C with a 40 minute layover assuming my Ottawa flight leaves on time. Do I have to go through passport control when I land or do I clear customs in Ottawa, Canada before arriving in the US? Can anyone confirm this and will I be able to catch my connecting flight within 40 minutes?

You will pre-clear US Immigration and customs in Ottawa. In Newark you have to take the United shuttle bus inside security to Terminal C. You barely have enough time if the flight from Ottawa is on-time.

    Thanks!

I am arriving at EWR from Canada and connecting to a flight to Germany. Two different terminals. I assume I have to go through passport control, pick up and then recheck my bags. Can anyone confirm?

What airlines are you flying? Were your flights purchased on two separate itineraries or one? Where in Canada are you coming from? I can't answer your question without that information.

Arriving on Air Canada from Vancouver, BC (YVR) and departing on Lufthansa (Air Canada code share) for Düsseldorf, Germany. All on the same itinerary.

Then you will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Vancouver. All you have to do in Newark is take the Airtrain to Terminal B and go through security. You don't have to do anything with your bags.
