  • Transit from EWR to LGA Airport & Transit visa

Coming from Mumbai for Toronto via EWR and LGA airport. Do I need transit visa on EWR air port and do I have to collect my luggage to get plan at LGA for Toronto?

If you are an Indian citizen you need a US transit visa whether you are changing airports or not. And yes, you have to claim your luggage to take it to LGA. You need at least 5 hours for this transfer. It will cost approximately $100 to take a taxi between the two airports.

  • 90 Minute Connection Time

I have an upcoming United flight Glasgow GLA --- EWR --- Syracuse SYR, with a 90 minute connection time. I believe I'm arriving to Terminal B, and need to connect out of Terminal C. Do I need to pass customs, collect luggage, then re-check luggage in Terminal B? Can I used the transfer shuttle? Thank you!

Yes, you will arrive in Terminal B, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, take the AirTrain to Terminal A or C (your flight to Syracuse could depart from either), then go through security and to your departure gate. You barely have enough time if everything goes perfectly.

Thanks ZAP! You're so helpful on this forum :)

  • Arrive C, depart from B 4pm, 6:55

We will be arriving at Newark(United Airlines) from Providence RI at terminal C at 4:00 pm. Our flight to Oslo (SAS airlines)departs from terminal B at 6:55 pm. What is the best way to travel from terminal C to B? Will we have to go through security between C and B? Will we have enough time?

There is a shuttle bus inside security from Terminal C to the SAS gates in Terminal B. Even if you took the airtrain and went through security, you should have plenty of time.

    Thank you so much!

  • Lufthansa arrival (Terminal B) to American departure (Terminal A)

Arriving on Lufthansa to Terrminal B and connecting to an American flight out of Terminal A to MIA and then to S. America. Two separate tickets, need to check in again at Terminal A? Does American have a (re) check in counter at Terminal B at International arrivals? Bags might be only tagged to EWR since flying on 2 different tickets. If need to check in again what is the fastest way from terminal B international arrivals to the check in counter of American at Terminal A? Thank you

Yes, you need to check in again in Terminal A. You cannot re-check your bags in Terminal B. You need to take the AirTrain to Terminal A.

I am flying from Brazil do San Diego with a stopover in Newark. I will have an hour and a half for immigration, customs, etc. Will it be enough to do that?

That is barely enough time if everything goes perfectly.

How do I get from Terminal A to Terminal B; do I go back through Security at Intermational Terminal?

You will not go to Terminal A and there is no "International Terminal". You will likely both arrive in Terminal C. You will be outside security when you clear customs and re-check your bags.

Like I said before I will just have an hour and a half for connection to go through immigration, customs, etc, if I missed my flight to San Diego, am I going to be able to take the next flight without having to pay for the ticket again? (United Airlines). Thank you!

Hi.. I have a flight that lands at 7:59 am and I have to catch a connecting flight in a different terminal that leaves at 8:45 am.. If I take the shuttle from termial A to Terminal C will I have enough time.. I only have a carry on and I'm flying with United.

Also my flight that lands at 7:59 am is from GSP Airport and the one that leaves is to SNA Airport.

Yes, if the first flight is on-time and you take the shuttle you should have JUST enough time.

Do u have to go thru security? I have similar connection time and nervous

Unless your coming from Terminal B you do but if you need to go to Terminal C from Terminal A, the shuttle is inside at the gates.

Yes, that should be just about enough time.

Hi, I will arrive to EWR terminal A by a domestic flight at 7:24 am. And need to transfer to another domestic flight at terminal C. The connection time is only about 1 and half hours, and I have two checked-in luggage. The flights are both operated by United. It seems that I can use the shuttle to skip the process of rsecurity check. However, do I have to claim the baggage and rechecked-in? And is the shuttle start to operate at 7:24am? Thx

You don't have to do anything with your luggage. Just take the shuttle and you should have plenty of time.

Hi -- My UA domestic flight from MKE into EWR has been delayed and I now will have 40min to make a connection to BDA. Is that enough time? Guessing Terminal A to C. Thanks.

It's not impossible. But it's difficult.

  • Delayed flight makes it impossible to reach connection flight.

Hi. We(my girlfriend and I) are arriving from Oslo today, but our flight is delayed 1 hour, giving us 40 mins to reach our connecting flight to Miami. Is this enogh time? Do we have to go get our luggage and re-check it again and go through security again? We are flying with United both flights. If we can't reach the connecting flight, what happens then? Are we booked to another flight?

That is not enough time. you have likely already been rebooked on an alternate flight to Miami.

  • From Terminal A to Terminal C

We are arriving from Asheville to Terminal A and our connection flight is in Terminal C. Do we have to go through security to get to Terminal C or can we bypass it? Thank you.

United runs a shuttle bus inside security from Terminal A to Terminal C that allows you to change terminals without going through security.

Thank you so much for your quick response, my next question is does it matter which of the three terminals within A we arrive at?

All United Express flights use the same satellite - the one that the shuttle goes to.

Thank you so much for your help.

Hi there, I'm travelling from San Francisco to Newark, then have a 45mins connection to Glasgow flight!!! Will i make it? Both United flights. Thanks in advance!

Yes, that is enough time if your flight from San Francisco is on-time. You just have to walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, both in Terminal 3.

    Sorry I mean Terminal C.

Thankyou for the rapid response! My flight from San Fran is now delayed 20mins...I'm going to b cutting it very fine!!

Arriving from Toronto to EWR at 8:00 am. Need to catch a connecting flight to Shanghai, China that leaves 10:45 am. 2 checked baggages. Do i need to go through custom immigration again and recheck bags? I am a Chinese resident. Enough time? Thanks.

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. If both flights are on United all you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. If you arrive in Terminal A then United runs a shuttle inside security to Terminal C where you depart. You have enough time. Note that you will need a US Transit visa for this trip if you don't already have a visa for the US.

Thx for the reply....Yes have a tourist visa for USA. The flight from Toronto to EwR is Air Canada. So do i tell them to forward my two checked luggages to Shanghai in Toronto? Again, the flight from toronto to new york is Air Canada but the flight from USA to Shanghai is United. Im more worried about my luggage situation as im a bit confused as to whether i should pick it up again in new york and recheck or they just direct it from Toronto...

If both tickets are on the same reservation your bags will be checked through to Shanghai and you don't have to do anything with your bags in Newark.

No they were seperately booked so does that mean I have to go out and recheck the baggages again?

hi we will be arriving with united from belfast and have 1 hour 3o min to get to our next gat for orlando on the wa home we will arrive from orlando and have just 1 hour 15 mins to get to gate for connecting london flight will this be enough time thank you

After arriving in Newark from Belfast you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go to Terminal C if you arrived in B on the AirTrain and then go through security. That is a very difficult connection. On your return to Belfast all you have to do in Newark is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate both in Terminal C and you have enough time.

I will arrive in Terminal B on SAS from Copenhagen at 12.55, with departure from terminal C (United Airlines) to Fort Lauderdale (FLL) at 15.59. Will I have to claim my bag in terminal B and recheck it ? Do I recheck it in terminal B or C? Which is the fastest way to go from Terminal B to Terminal C?

Yes, you will have to claim your bags to go through US Customs, if they are tagged to FLL you can re-check them at the re-check desk immediately after in Terminal B. Then you will take the AirTrain to Terminal C and go through security. You have enough time.
