I have a 14 hours layover in Newark, will I have to claim my luggage or can I check them through my final destination? I'm travelling with AA and every flights are on the same reservation.
You will have to ask the agent in your origin city. AA does not have a hub in Newark. Where are you flying from and to?
By mistake I think I posted the following in the wrong forum..January 10, 2015 flying YWG - YYZ - EWR arriving EWR on AC (United 8202) at 1035 PM. Connecting next morning January 11, 2015 at 9:04 AM to United 1040 travelling to AUA. All ticketed on United. I am aware of US immigration and customs procedures in YYZ. My question is - will my bags be checked through to AUA or will I need to gather them in Newark for the night and check them at United counter in the morning?
We have booked a room at the Marriott at the airport. Thanks, Jim
Hi I have some letters I need to mail. Is there a mailbox in the airport or in the United Club??
There are no public mailboxes located within the terminal areas of the airport.
I'm going from Quebec city (no preclearance) to Hong Kong with a connection through Newark. Do I need to pass through customs in the US, even though my final destination is Hong Kong? I want to make sure I have enough layover time to make my connection. Thanks.
Yes, you will have to pass through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, and re-check your bags at the transfer desk, then go through security. Leave at least 2 hours.
We are flying form Glasgow to Newark with United Airline and 9 hours later catching connecting flight on same ticket from Newark to Miami. What is procedure for this? Will we have to get bags, clear customs and re-check in? Can we leave airport and what is best way to spend the time.
Thanks
You can but I'd stay at the airport in case there's a problem.
Yes, you will arrive in Terminal B or C, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then re-check your bags at the transfer desk, then you are free to leave. However, there is really not much near the Newark Airport. Taking the AirTrain and NJT into the city will take about an hour each way, and you will have to be back at the airport an hour before your next flight. So that realistically only leaves you a few hours in the city if you choose to go there. Your flight to Miami will depart from Terminal C.
Hi there,
I'm travelling in from Toronto landing at terminal A (Air Canada)
I am having to transfer to terminal C to fly to Glasgow (United)
What is the best way of doing this terminal change - Train or Bus?
Do I need to clear security and customs to do this transit?
Where does the bus/train leave from?

Thanks for your help in advance
Im traveling from London to Panama in a connecting United flight. just have 85 minutes to do everything: Customs, Passport. change terminal. No bags to pick or recheck What do you think, am I going to make it.
I think it's barely enough time if your first flight is on-time.
No way! You need a lot more time then that!!
My family is Travelling from Delhi to Orlando with united. I believe their immigration will be at EWR. Wats the transfer process . Do they collect their bags 1st n then do immigration or vice versa. Will they again have to recheck their bags at counter n do security again . How far are the gates of arrival n departure. Would they need to take a tram ? Thanks
At EWR, United uses Terminals B & C (TB, TC) for its international flights - both terminals have their own customs procedures (go through passport check, retrieve checked bags, go through customs clearance and - if transferring to another flight - re-check-in bag). United uses for its departures TC (United Express uses both TA & TC). After baggage re-check-in, she needs to take the AirTrain (follow signs) to TC - but needs to go through security check before proceeding to the connecting C gate.
I'm flying in from Ireland and I'm nervous that I will miss my connecting flight
Since you will pre-clear US Immigration in Ireland you will arrive inside the secure area and should take the shuttle.
I have booked a flight from Birmingham to Orlando, with a connection through Newark. I am flying on one ticket. The time between flights is 1hr 15 mins will I make it?! My travel advisor in the UK told me that it is sold through United Airlines and is definitely do-able. Help!
EDIT hi this is the return journey part of my holiday. Orlando international to Newark lands and I have just over an hour to catch my Newark to Birmingham flight.... Is there enough time??
On the return trip it will be very doable as you do not go through US Customs or immigration when you leave the US - you will just have to go from your arrival gate to your departure gate in EWR.
Phew!! Thank you :)
