  • Overnight Layover/Wait in Airport
    Jul 29, 2014

Hi, I'm an international traveller flying via Cathay Pacific into Newark which arrives at 9.40pm on Aug 12. My next flight out is a domestic flight (separate tix) by US Airways to Indianapolis at 5am on Aug 13. As it's a less than 8 hour wait between the two flights, it's rather expensive getting a hotel room to wait out the couple of hours. My questions are: 1. Do I have to go through security again for my domestic flight out? 2.How early do the counters for US Airways open? 3. Is there a relatively safe corner in Newark that I can 'camp' out for a few hours that won't be frowned upon by security? 4. I assume the lounges are all close by the time I arrive in EWR. Are there any 24 hour cafes/eateries I can spend my time in? 5. This is a longshot but are there any airport hotels that offers 'day-room' rates for a couple of hours? I will be having my check in luggage with me before my flight out to Indianapolis. Thank you.

When you exit customs after your flight from Hong Kong you will be outside the secure area. The US Airways counters will likely open around 3:30 AM. EWR is a very busy airport so many areas outside security will be OK to stay in overnight. • Traveling Agoraphobic

Hi guys! I have agoraphobia: fear of open places, or more accurately, fear of large crowded places, like airports. I have very severe panic attacks in airports. Soooo, that brings me to my question: Where are the small, quiet places in Newark airport???? I'll be in Terminal B (B3) for my layover (3 hours, 40 min) leaving, and then returning I will be in Terminal A for that layover (6 hours, 30 min). Small areas could be anywhere I can feel not overwhelmed by people, small and dark is best: meditation room/chapel, baby nursing rooms, airport movie theaters, hallways, hell I'll hide in a closet if I could! Any help you could provide would be awesome! Thanks!

I assume you arrive at domestic Terminal A & need to transfer to an international flight in Terminal B. While the AirTrain stops at each of the three EWR terminals (in the unsecured area), if this is a problem you can take the taxi (not sure if you can walk between the 2 terminals). I suggest you pass by the Welcome Center on Arrivals level - staffed by Customer Care Reps with red vests - some of them also patrol the terminals for passenger assistance. Shops, Restaurants & Services are listed at http://www.panynj.gov/airports/ewr-shops-restaurants-services.html. An overview Airport map is at http://www.panynj.gov/airports/ewr-airport-map.html - click on either A or B for terminal details. At Terminal B (TB) gate area B3 with gates B69-68 has two airline lounges (inquire at your airline). Also open the overview map & click on either Terminal B or A for more terminal details. On your return at TB, you need to go through passport check, pick up your bags & go through customs clearance before continuing on to Terminal A. The NY/NJ Port Authority is the operator of 5 airports, bridges, tunnels, etc. - & its Airport info phone (973) 961 6000 isn't much of use in your case (no e-mail address). Sorry - this is all I managed to find. P.S. I googled 'How to treat Agoraphobia" - which came up with a ton of leads - thought you may be interested to know. • Where is TSA check point @ EWR Term B

I'm flying out of Terminal B tomorrow morning very early on Delta, have boarding pass with the green check for pre clear - they have not given me gate info yet. Is TSA at all three points in B

The Gate Level of Terminal B at EWR has separate security checks for Gate Areas B1, B2 & B3 - Gate Area B1 with gates B40-47 is managed by Delta.

I arrive in Terminal B and my connecting flight departs from Terminal C. It is my understanding that I have to go through passport control, claim my bag, go through customs and recheck my bag in Terminal B. Do I have to go through security in terminal B or C? How do I get from Terminal B to C? Shuttle or AirTrain? Thanks.

  • is 2h45m enough for a lay over in EWR? (route FRA->EWR->BWI)

I come from Frankfurt (FRA) and need to pass the customs and border control before getting the next flight to Baltimore (BWI). Is 2 hours 45 minutes enough time to catch the next plane, or do I have to expect longer waiting times and should go for a different route?

  • YQM - EWR - IND

Hey everyone, I have a 2h 9m stop in EWR before departing for IND. I will be arriving at EWR on a Thursday at 7:06am in Terminal A, my next flight leaving from Terminal C at 9:15am. Will I have enough time to take the shuttle from A to C and go through customs/security in 2 hours (I will only have a carry-on bag with me)? Also, what is the longest I could be waiting for a shuttle to arrive? Sorry for all of the questions, I'm a first time flyer and a bit nervous. Thanks in advance for the help.

I left my laptop on seat 24A. I can not graduate with it and never backed it up. NO QUESTIONS ASKED IF YOU FOUND IT. Large cash reward. Kristen (973) 420-8063 Thanks

Try to contact US Airways' Lost & Found. (EWR's EWR lost&found rules: "If you lost an item in the gate area or onboard, contact your airline. If you lost an item at the TSA Security checkpoint call TSA at (908) 787-0667. If you lost an item at other area, contact the Lost and Found Custodian at ewrlostandfound@panynj.gov

  • Ground stop?
    Apr 14, 2014

Flying from Chicago and United says delay is from a Newark airport ground stop

Yes, due to the winds and runway construction in Newark they are only currently able to use one runway there. This has resulted in a current very lengthy ground delay program for flights bound for Newark.

  • San Francisco to EWR to Edinburgh - enough time to transfer? 10th Oct

UA1266 arrives EWR at 19:22 - UA36 depart EWR at 20:10 for Edinburgh, is there enough time to transfer, both in Terminal C

Yes, that should be enough time if your first flight is on-time. All you have to do is go from gate to gate.

  • Connection Time

I will be arriving at EWR on UA1252 from Chicago at 7:29 PM and have only a 51 min layover before departing on UA64 to Lisbon at 8:20. I don't know which terminal UA1252 arrives at, and I am only assuming that UA64 leaves from terminal C. Will 51 minutes be long enough?

Both flights will be in Terminal C. It should be enough time if you first flight is on-time, but since it's Newark we're talking about, that's a big "if".

Thank you so much for the info!

I lost my iPad either at the airport or in flight on Aug. 1, 2013. I flew US Airways, so it would have been at one of their gates if I lost it in the airport. I was there between 11:30 a.m. - 12:45 p.m. It is white, gray case, serial # DMQHGHHTDKPH. Please let me know if you found this by emailing me at kmriggi01@gmail.com.

I will be taking my 86 yr old mom to the airport to leave for Savannah. She is not disabled but gets anxious and out of breath walking long distances. Is there anyway I can accompany her to the gate?

You will have to ask the check-in counter for a gate pass. If she has trouble walking you can also request wheelchair service - she doesn't have to be disabled in the eyes of the government to get wheelchair service.
