Oulu OUL Airport Overview

Oulu Airport OUL is located in the municipality of Oulunsalo, 15 km south-west of Oulu city center, near the Gulf of Bothnia, Finland, and is Finland’s second-busiest airport after Helsinki-Vantaa.

With a long runway and over 1 million passengers in 2012, Oulu Airport is served by  Finnair (including multiple daily departures to Helsinki), and other airlines offering direct scheduled flights to many European destinations, with connections around the world. Seasonal charter flights are also available to popular tourist destinations (contact: Aurinkomatkat tel. 010-4464800 or Suomen Matkatoimistotel. 0600-97000). 

NOTE: As the passenger terminal will undergo upgrade work during 2013, this may impact operations; passengers are urged to check with the following updated site prior to their departure to the Airport:  finavia.fi/lentoasemat/lentoasema_oulu. 

Oulu Airport has a new passenger terminal, with the old one having recently been demolished for more apron space, and the main terminal extended by jetbridges. Further improvements are to be completed by late 2011. Amenities at the passenger terminal include free internet access, an Information Desk (tel: 08-520-7800), a mailbox in the arrivals hall, two restaurants, a tax-free shop, children's play area, a VIP suite (tel.08 8807701), and lost property (tel. 020 708 7800).  For disabled support call (08) 520 7800.  For lost property call tel. 020 708 7800.
A VIP suite is located on the 2d floor and has two rooms, a kitchen and restroom, and offers audiovisual systems, telephone & TV - suitable for conference or rest and accommodating up to 15 people. Reservations can be made at tel. (08) 8807701, and catering is available from restaurant Sodexo at tel.(08) 880 7998.

Parking options at Oulu Airport include long- and short-term parking at one facility, with a gate system. Press a button at the entry gate to get your ticket. For those with a valid disabled card, parking is available both behind the gate (contact information desk) and in the circular parking area reserved for taxis and car rental agencies. Heated parking spaces are also available at extra fee. Parking fees can be paid in cash or by credit card. If paying in cash, use the automatic payment machines located inside the facility, or if paying by credit card, use the exit gate. Insert your paid parking ticket into the ticket reader at the exit gate. Remove the ticket from the reader and the gate will open.

To get from Oulu Airport to your destination, you can rent a car (Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz & Scandia),  take a taxi or a bus:
1. Taxis: for service call 0600-30081 or 100411 or visit oulunaluetaksi.fi. Note that taxi service to Raahe is only available by order  (Tel. 0600-30010 or visit raahentaksi.fi/airport.html.
2. The Koskilinjat Oy 19 bus runs every 20 mins weekdays & every hour on the hour on weekends, between the Airport and Oulu town center and takes 20 minutes. The route includes stops at Oulunsalo, Oulu center and Linnanma.

Current and future Airport Developments:  In addition to recent upgrades, Finavia - Oulu's operator - takes several measues for smoother operations, whereby the Departure Hall will be changed, improve check-in & baggage handling to sped up departures, replace baggage carousels & X-ray machines, and new checkpints installed. Work is to be completed by 2014.
