  • How long to get bags and go through customs?

Hello, I have booked tickets traveling from Montreal to CDG, arriving at terminal 2 A, at 7:30 am on Air Canada. I have decided to fly to Rennes instead of take a train because the early trains are sold out. Is a 9:35 Departure on Air France too early? Or is it safer to wait till the 1:00 flight?

All on one ticket with AF. Will a 1 hr 45 min connection at CDG be sufficient? Instructions on how to claim checked bag and necessity (?) of navigating security/customs would be appreciated. ~thank you

You don't have to go through security or customs or do anything with your bags. you just have to go to your departure gate.

Flying into Terminal 2A on American Airline, and out in 2E on Air France to Rome with only carry-on baggage. If I have printed my boarding pass for Air France prior, can I just go to gate at 2E or do I have to go through check-in/Customs/Passport, etc?

You will just have to go through passport control and to your departure gate.

Does that take very long? Is that different then exiting like you were going to get baggage? Thanks.

It's literally what it sounds like, they check your passport. sometimes there are lines, usually they are short.

I am arriving from Spain and have 2 hrs and 35 minutes to make a connection from terminal 2D to 1. I am flying to NYC. They are different airlines but no checked baggage. Can I make it?

With no checked bags, yes, I think you can make this as long as your first flight is on-time.

  • JFK (or Newark) to Moscow through Paris

Hi! I'm trying to book a ticket for my elderly mother who doesn't speak french or english; so I'm looking for the New York-Moscow flight with the easiest connection. It looks like JFK-SVO flight connects in Paris at the same terminal 2E, am I right? What's the terminal like? Would she need to take any transfers/buses/etc. to get to connecting flight CDG-SVO? What would she need to do after getting off JFK-CDG flight? Also, does she need any visas if she just changes planes in Paris? Another question: what is the terminal for transfers if the departure is from Newark airport? Thank you!

CDG is very large and modern but also quite complex and she won't find many other russian speakers there. Why don't you just book her on the Aeroflot nonstop flight from JFK?

I know CDG is huge, i've passed through it once for a connection to Barcelona - it was a nightmare. That's why I'm worried for her. But like I said, it looks like both her flights are from the same terminal, 2E (unlike mine were). Believe it or not, Aeroflot tickets are more expensive than AF but the biggest problem is the long layover of 12 hours with Aeroflot flights (she's flying further from Moscow). Considering the "amenities" of SVO, it's out of the question. So if she's in the same terminal, 2E, would she just go from gate to gate (she can manage that much)? Will she have to go through passport control, security check, customs, whatever else? (Moscow is a Non-Schengen country). (P.S. She's a US resident, not citizen, she'll have a travel passport and a green card with her.)

She will not have to go through any checks in Paris as she is coming from the US and is not entering the Schengen Area.

Traveling from IAH, through CDG and then to BEY, and back same way. Is there a separate security step coming back from BEY? Does luggage get/need to be inspected b/w IAH and getting on connecting flight in CDG? Somebody else booked my ticket, and only allowed 90 min... (going). It's more (4-5 hrs) on return flight.

If both flights are Air France that should be enough time. On the way back from BEY you will have to go through security at CDG. You won't have to do anything with your checked bags at CDG either way.

IAH - CDG and back is Air France. Not sure if it flies to BEY, but we are changing over the MEA airlines... Still enough time? I think we are switching from terminal 2E to 2F or vv.

  • Connection Terminal 2D to 1

Hello. I am arriving from Majorca, Spain at terminal 2D at 11:45am and catching a plane departing for Los Angeles from terminal 1 at 12:50am. I have NO checked baggage. Do you think this is possible? I was thinking I would not have to go through customs since I was coming from Spain. Thank you in advance.

You will have to go through security and Schengen Exit passport control. This is a very difficult connection.

The CDGVAL station is located on the lowest level of Terminal 1. It's hard to miss.

thank you. arrive at 6:55 am at term 1, and leave on tgv at 8:30 am to Lyon. is this enough time to clear passport control and take cdgval to the gare to catch my train? merci

My wife and I are scheduled to arrive at Terminal 2E on Delta at 8:25am and depart on Air France from Terminal 2F at 9:35am. Can we make it?

    Yes, that should be possible.

I arrive in Terminal 2E at 8:25 am and am taking TGV train departing from the airport station at 9:58. Is 1 hr 33 mins enough time to deplane, clear customs, pick up bags and get to the train?

    That is probably enough time.

  • 1 hours transfer connection

Hi, I would be taking Air France from Singaore to Birmingham, transiting at Paris Airport. It seems like both flights would arrive/depart from Terminal 2E. In that case, is one hour transfer time sufficient?

Yes, one hour should be enough time.

  • Delta 2E to Air France 2F

My 20 year old daughter will be flying alone and I want to give her as much detail as possible about her connection at CDG. One reservation and bags will be checked through to Florence. She will be flying from Cincinnati to CDG on Delta, arriving at 8:35 a.m. I see that Delta flies into Terminal 2E, but I don't know what hall? She then leaves CDG on Air France at 10:05 from Terminal 2F. What will she need to do from the time she steps off the plane to get to 2F? Is 1 hour, 30 minutes enough time? I tried to pay for Air France's new meet & greet service, but since I booked through Delta as a travel partner, they won't do it. That would have put this worried mother's mind at ease!

All she has to do is look up her departure gate and follow the signs to it. She will go through Schengen passport control on her way to it.

Will she need to go through security as well or just passport control?

Since she is coming from the US she won't have to go through security.

I have a Naples to CDG flight on EasyJet (Terminal 2B) arriving at 9:05 am and then a United Airlines flight to Chicago (Terminal 1) departing at 11:15 am. Will I have enough time? Do I have to go through customs at Terminal 1 and then security at Terminal 2?

Forgot to mention that I won't have a checked bag.

In Terminal 2 all you have to do is claim your bag, then take it to Terminal 1 where you will check your bag, go through security, and schengen exit passport control. Since Italy and France are both in the Schengen Area there are no passport controls when traveling between them.

Sorry, didn't see you don't have a checked bag. Then all you have to do is go to Terminal 1, check in and go through security and exit passport control. You should have just enough time.

Thank you for your thorough response. Much appreciated!

I feel really bad asking this, but this will be my first time flying alone and to a country where English isn't the primary language. I'm studying the map and layout, but will I be able to navigate from the terminal to baggage claim to customs not speaking a word of French? Thanks :)

Yes, CDG has lots of signs in English and also most of the signs use very clear icons of what they are.

  • Connecting to MRS

We land at CDG from JFK at 8:30am. Our connecting flight to MRS departs at 9:35am. Do we need to clear customs/immigration & re-check our bags in CDG or clear customs & immigration in MRS? Will we have enough time? Thank you.

You will go through passport control in CDG. You don't have to do anything with your bags as long as both flights are on the same reservation.

Thank you so much! I was worried we might not have time.
