I have two reservation codes: one for my domestic flight to PHL and another for my flight from PHL to Doha. Does this mean I have to collect my luggage in PHL and check it again for the flight to Doha?
You can show your Qatar reservation to the AA agent in Knoxville and ask that your bags be checked through to Doha, but they aren't required to. If they don't, then, yes, you will have to claim and re-check your bags in Philadelphia.
Thank you.
Flying MIA to PHL to MAN (UK) with AA.
Do I need to re-check bags at PHL?
Thank you.
No, you don't have to do anything with your bags in Philadelphia There is no US Customs when leaving the US.
I will be departing Barcelona flying thru Philadelphia to Fort Myers. Where will I be going through customs and is 2 hrs connecting time enough. This will be a May trip.
In Philadelphia you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go through security and to your departure gate. You have just enough time if everything goes smoothly.
I am flying out of Terminal F but want to check bags and go through security at B/C at PHL. Is this doable?
Yes, I believe you can do that.
Our tour group booked our flights on American into PHL but we had to make our own flight reservations for onward travel on American from PHL to our home town. As such, the flights are not connected. Does American Airline have a transfer desk in the International Arrivals hall where we can check into our second flight, or do we have to leave the airport & reenter to stand in line at the American Airline departures line? Thank you
Since they will be on two separate reservations you will have to go to the American Airlines check in desk to check your bags for onward travel.
HI there,
I am
Flying to toronto from
Dublin via PHL. Both of my flights are operated by US airways. Will I have to pick up my
Checked baggage? Or will the bags be transferred for me from one plane to
The next?

Thanks'
You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Dublin. Your arrival into Philadelphia will be like a domestic flight. All you have to do in Philadelphia is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You will go through Canadian immigration when you get to Toronto.
My parents are flying from India to Raleigh via British Airways with connection flight to London to PHA and PHA to RDU via US Airways. Do they need to claim the baggage and recheck them after customs at PHA? If so, do they recheck at the US airways Counter or will there be a quick re-check desk past the customs?
You will claim your baggage after going through US Immigration in Philadelphia, Then you will go through US Customs, then there will be a US Airways/American Airlines re-check desk. Then you will go up to the departure level, through security, and to your departure gate.
I am flying from ROC to PHL for an international flight from PHL to VEN. Do I need to get my luggage when we land in PHL and bring it to International or does the airline do it
If she arrives by United Airlines, she will arrive at Terminal C or B; All other international arrivals use Terminal B. Terminal A is for all domestic airlines (United's are in both A & C). While United shuttles between gates of TC & TA, the Airtrain makes its round in the unsecured areas of the terminal, with need to go through security check to reach connecting gates. If arriving at early morning or evening rush hours, transfer time is not enough, as all international arrivals need to go through passport check, pick up bags, go through customs clearance & re-check-in their bags.
She will arrive in B or C and depart from B.
Thanks if she is on UA will they book her on another flight?
Yes, if she misses her connection in EWR they will rebook her. United has lots of flights from EWR to LAX.
Assuming both of your flights on US Airways, you do not have to do anything with your baggage in PHL on your way out of the USA.
Arriving from Bussels(US airways) and have connecting flight to FLL( US airways) What is the procedure for the luggage?
At Brussels, when checking in make sure your luggage is tagged for all the airports with their codes. However, at PHL, as an international arrival in the US, you need to first go through passport check, pick up your bags, go through customs clearance and then re-check-in your bag. You will arrive at PHL in Terminal A-West (TA-West)& will depart from the same terminal if using US Airways; if using US Airways Express, you need to proceed to Terminal F (look at your ticket whether it states A or F gates (i.e., A13, F23). A free shuttle bus takes you from TA to TF. International transfers need to allow for at least 30 minutes for connecting to transfer gates.
At PHL, I missed my connecting flight, coming from London, as I had to stand in an endless line at the TSA checkpoint. And I was not the only one who had to stand in another line for rebooking another flight!
