  • International Conncections - Is 2hr long enough?
    Jan 23, 2015

I'm flying through Philadelphia to get to Tampa from Manchester, UK this summer and want to know if 2 hours for immigration, baggage reclaim and security is long enough as last year, we had a LONG queuing time in security. Do you think I'll make my flight in time or have any tips on how to get passed it all and still have enough time to make it to the gate?

2 hours should be enough time. There's no tips for making it faster. Since you are now a returning ESTA user you should now be able to use the faster lane that US and Canadian citizens can use.

I am leaving from halifax Yhz with a connecting flight in Philadelphia going to orlando with 48 minute layover. Do I go through customs in halifax or philidephia?

You will go through US Immigration and Customs in Halifax. In PHL all you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. However, you will likely arrive in Terminal F, which requires taking a shuttle bus, which runs inside security, to your departure terminal.

  • Staying at the Marriott in terminal B- can I walk to terminal E

Can I walk from the Marriott at terminal B to get to southwest airlines at terminal E without going outside. And what is the best way to enter the airport from the hotel for security check. I am not checking a bag.

If you print out your boarding pass ahead of time you can go through security in B and then walk to Terminal E inside security. However, if you don't already have your boarding pass then you will have to walk along the curbfront to E. Hotel staff can advise you on the best checkpoint to use.

Yes, that should be enough time. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

Hi. I'm flying WPB to Man Uk, will my bags get checked through from WPB to Man? Also what's theconection times from terminal to terminal and will be need to go through security again. Thanks.

Your bags will be tagged to PBI. However, in Philadelphia, you will arrive in Terminal A, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then re-check your bags at the transfer desk, then go through security and to your departure gate, which will be in Terminal A, B, C, or D.

Sorry if I'm in the states why do I need to go through customs? I'm flying WPB to Man Uk I thought as its US all the way my bags would get checked through

Sorry, I thought you were asking about flying from Manchester to West Palm Beach. On your way to Manchester you won't have to do anything in Philadelphia other than go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You will depart from A-West and will arrive in one of the terminals within walking distance. You will not have to go through security.

    That's great thanks Zap

  • Enough Time for "Layover"?
    Jan 13, 2015

I want to book a flight from Halifax, Nova Scotia through Philadelphia to Phoenix on US Airways. If says there is a 38 minute "layover". Is that enough time, if I travel with no checked luggage?

Yes, that should be enough time if your first flight is on-time. If you arrive in Terminal F it is connected to the other terminals inside security by a shuttle bus.

  • Enough time? Panic!!

Flying back from Memphis to Manchester (England) via Philadelphia with US Airways. We have only 56 mins between flights, I have no idea which terminals we will be landing at/departing from. Will 56 mins be enough time? Thanks in advance, I've never had a connecting flight before, and we have lots of time inbound, but only 56 mins on our return flights, it doesn't seem very long. xx

That should be enough time if your first flight is on-time. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. If you arrive at Terminal F it is connected to the other terminals by a shuttle bus inside security.

You will be landing in A West and Departing in B or C. 56 minutes is NOT enough as you must complete US Customs, Bag Claim and Security, then get to your gate. The TSA queues are sometimes long.

Wait, the terminals are landing: B/C Depart: A West You will have enough time for everything. I read wrong, thought it was MAN-PHL. Sorry.

  • LGA to PHL to Manchester UK

We are travelling tomorrow from LGA and change at PHL for onward to manchester UK. Our holiday company booked flights to only allow a 50 min connection time!! Wghen in PHL will we have to collect and recheck bags and go through security etc?? And is there going to be enough time without missing the flight

All you have to do in Philadelphia is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. There is no Passport control upon exit of the US. If you arrive in Terminal F it is connected to the other terminals by a shuttle bus inside security.

  • 44 min

Hi, I am liking at a flight from New Orleans, LA to Montreal, Quebec during June. The connection is through PHL...with the arrival gate at terminal C and the departure gate at terminal F. Is 44 min enough to get from gate to gate?! Will I have to worry separate security, passport review, etc in that timeframe?

You don't have to go through security or passport control in Philadelphia. You will go through Canadian immigration when you get to Montreal. However, in Philadelphia you will have to take a shuttle bus from your arrival terminal to Terminal F. It runs inside security. You barely have enough time with that connection time.

  • 50 minute connection

Hello. I am scheduled to land at 11:20 in Terminal F and then my next plane leaves at 12:10 in Terminal A. Do I have enough time to make the connection?

I had a similar connection a year ago but had an arrival at 5:05PM and a departure at 6:00PM. The bus from F to A was painfully slow and I ended up running to the gate and just made my flight. You may make it in 50 min, it all depends on the bus - good luck!

Can I check in and drop luggage off at Terminal B if leaving out of Terminal A-East? If so, how much time should I allow for this?

  • A-East to B Pre-Security

On overhead maps it looks like there is a bridge between Terminal B and Terminal A-East prior to security? Is this accurate. Leaving from A-East very early AM, thinking of staying at that Marriott in Terminal B and not having to go outside to get from B to A-East.

You can just go through security in B and then walk to A.

Will there is an issue with my checking my baggage at Terminal B even though I am leaving out of Terminal A-East?

If you are flying US AIrways you can check your bags in Terminal B no problem. If you are flying another airline, then yes, you will have to go to Terminal A. The International counter is in Terminal A, but you should be OK using the counter in B. If for some reason they refuse you it is a very simple walk from A to B, even if you briefly have to go outside.

Going PHL -> SJU out of Terminal A-West. Staying at Marriott in Terminal B night before. Can I go through security at Terminal B, or do I have to go to Terminal A-West to go through security.

Yes, you can go through security in Terminal B.

Someone told me there is additional security you have to go through at A-West on the secure-side due to it being the International Terminal even if you have already gone through it at another terminal. Is that true?

That is not true. The person who told you that must be confused with having to go through security after an international arrival.

There is also additional security for the flight to Tel Aviv, Israel. Perhaps the person who told you about it was on or saw that flight.

Thanks. Didn't sound right but thought I would ask.

  • Terminal B domestic flight transfer to Terminal A International

We have a US Airways flight arriving from Houston in Terminal B and will be connecting to an international flight to Brussels in Terminal A, will we have to go through security again before boarding the international flight? We have just under 90 minutes to make the transfer. Thanks.

No, you do not have to go through security. You just have to walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate which shouldn't take more than 15 minutes.

    Thank you,

Manchester to Miami is 1:45 enough?

Manchester, England or Manchester, New Hampshire? For either it should be enough, but it has less time to spare for England.
