  • Traveling to Tampa through Philadelphia

Hi I'm traveling from Egypt to Tampa on quatar airways. I will be arriving at terminal A in Philadelphia and taking a connection flight from terminal B to Tampa on quatar airways operated by United States ( I don't really understand what that means). The time between flights is only 1:44 hr . Will this be enough time and will I have to claim my luggage and recheck them again?

Your flight from Philadelphia to Tampa will be operated by US Airways, a fairly large airline in the USA that has a hub in Philadelphia. Upon arrival you will go through US Immigration, claim your baggage, go through US Customs, then re-check your bags with US Airways. Then you will go up to the departure level and through security and to your departure gate. Monitors will tell you where your departure gate is. You should have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

Ok thanks a lot for your reply that was really helpful

I am flying from Raleigh-Durham to Venice. I have a connecting flight in Philly. We have 1hr and 45 minutes. Is this enough time? I've never flown international and the airline says we need to be at the gate 60 mins early.

The airline's message is overly cautious but you should easily be at the gate 60 minutes before departure. All you have to do at PHL is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate which will be connected inside security by walkways. You have plenty of time if your first flight is on-time.

I am flying in to PHL on USAir from ATL and departing on Qatar Airlines for Qatar. I do not have checked baggage...therefore, will I have to go through security in PHL?

No, if you have your Qatar Airways boarding pass you won't have to go through security in PHL.

  • YQB to MSY with layover in Philadelphia

Hi I have a flight to New Orleans from Quebec city with a 2 hours connection in Philadelphia. Is it enough time? I will need to clear customs in Philadelphia, right? Do I need to pick up my luggage before? How do I know if I'll need to change terminal and take a shuttle? Thank you!

You will arrive in Terminal A in PHL, Clear US Immigration, claim your bags, and go through US Customs. Then you will re-check your bags with US Airways. Then you will go up to the departure level and go through security. You should not have to take a shuttle as all Terminals except F are connected by walkways and the MSY flights do not depart from F.

thanks a lot for the fast reply. I guess we probably won't have much time to spare but it should be ok. Not having to take a shuttle will definitely help!

  • US Air PHX to MAN UK via PHL

I will be flying US Air from Phoenix to Manchester UK with a plane change in Philadelphia. Arriving from PHX at gate C30 and departing from gate A18 and I have one hour if my flight is ontime. Do I need to run???

No, a brisk walk should suffice. All you have to do is go from gate to gate.

  • Dublin to Tampa - via PHL

I'll be flying into terminal A West and then getting a connecting flight to Tampa, probably from terminal C (both flights with US Airways). Because Dublin has US preclearance, can I just walk freely between terminals A West and C when I land in PHL, without having to clear security?

On arrival at PHL you will be considered a domestic arrival. All terminals, other than TF, are connected at post-security areas by moving walkways, just proceed to Terminal B/C (with B & C gates on opposite sides) - C gates: C16-31.

Great, thanks for the info! Read somewhere else that A West wasn't connected to the others.

Booked with US Airways. Connecting time is 1hr 17mins. Do I have enough time to go the the custom and collect the luggage and checked in again. Where to find my flight arrival & departure terminal?

When you are on a domestic flight you do not have to go through customs or collect your baggage for your connection. So all you have to do in PHL is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. Your arrival gate will be in F and your departure gate may be in another terminal. F is connected to the other terminals by a shuttle bus inside security.

we have a 1hr 11 min connection to our Quebec flight is that enough? how do we find out what terminal we arrive at and leave from? assuming we do not have to go through security in Philly? thankyou

That is correct you do not have to go through security. Both of your flights will be in Terminal F.

On my return flight from LAX (through PHL) I have 1h 35min to make my connecting flight to Edinburgh, will this be enough time and what is the procedure if for some reason I don't make the connecting flight due to queues in transfer or for another reason? Since the ticket is booked as a connecting flight, will I be transferred onto a different flight?

THere will be no queues. All you have to do in PHL when leaving the US is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate which will be connected beyond security. However, if you did miss your connection due to a delayed inbound flight you would be rebooked either on the flight the next day to EDI or on a later flight to Europe and then connect in Europe to EDI (there is only one PHL-EDI flight daily).

I am flying from Paris to Quebec with a stop in Philadelphia. My flight gets into Philadelphia at 13.40 at terminal A and leaves again at 15.10 from terminal F. both flights are with us airways....will I need to claim my luggage and check it in again after clearing customs? Is this enough time (1h30)? I have never done a connecting flight or been to Philadelphia airport. Are terminal A and F very far apart? Thank you very much

Yes, you will have to claim your baggage after US Immigration, go through US Customs, then re-check it with US Airways. Yes, it should be enough time if your first flight is on-time. Terminal F is connected to the other terminals by a shuttle bus that runs inside security.

  • Do we have to go through security for our connecting flight?

Hi, we're arriving at the International terminal and have a connecting flight in Terminal B, both with US Airways. Do we have to go through security after clearing immigration and customs or can we get to Terminal B without having to go through security?

After you clear customs you will be outside security. You will have to go through security before your connecting flight.

    thanks

On Sept 5 I (a Canadian) am booked to fly into PHL from Montreal on AIR Wisconsin (Terminal F) and have only 1.5 hours to clear customs and get to a US Airways flight to Glasgow, I assume leaving from Terminal A. I don't mind walking, but will I have to go through security again as well? I have only carry-on luggage. Thanks for the help!

Montreal has pre-clearance. You will go through US Immigration in Montreal. Your arrival into Philadelphia will be like a domestic flight. All you have to do in Philadelphia is take the US AIrways shuttle from Terminal F to Terminal A (no security required). You should have plenty of time.

    thanks so much!

  • Airport Marriott (B/C) to Terminal A-West

First time in an airport. Staying overnight at Airport Marriott to catch early morning flight. How do I get from Airport Marriott to Terminal A-West? Do I have to go outside and catch shuttle or can I do walk it from inside? How long does it take?

I see US Airways also has a check-in at Terminal B/C? Can I check-in there with luggage for a flight leaving out of Terminal A-West. Then go though security and take the walkways to Terminal A-West?

I am flying from Heathrow to Orlando with a stop in Philadelphia. My flight gets into Philadelphia at 15.25 at terminal a and leaves again at 18.10 from terminal b. both flights are with us airways....will I need to claim my luggage and check it in again after clearing customs? Also is this enough time? I have never done a connecting flight or been to Philadelphia airport. Are terminal a and b very far apart? Thank you

Yes, you will have to claim your baggage to go through US Customs. Then you can immediately re-check it with US Airways. Terminals A and B are just two sides of the same building.

Thank you for your help, very useful

  • Connecting thru PHL from TPA and ATH

We will be traveling to Athens from Tampa, connecting in PHL. Our flight from TPA gets in at 2:43. Our connecting flight to ATH leaves at 4:20. Would we have enough time to connect? Our return flight from ATH gets in to PHL at 3:15. Flight to TPA leaves at 5:55. Would we have enough time to make the flight to Tampa?

Both ways you should have plenty of time, especially on your way there as all you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.
