  • Manchester UK - San Fran via PHL

Hi, I'm looking to fly from Manchester UK to San Francisco via Philadelphia on USairways, it will be a Saturday outbound and inbound. On the way there get to PHL at 1:40pm and there's a 2h 25m wait to catch the flight to SFO at 4:05pm. Is this enough time to change given immigration/security checks etc? Coming back leave SFO at 10:45am get to PHL 7:20pm with 1h 40m wait to change for 9:00pm flight to Manchester. Will this be enough time to change? Will the return be quicker as I will have cleared immigration/security at SFO? Thanks

Yes, 2 hr 25 minutes is enough time for immigration, customs, and security on your way to San Franscisco. On the return to Manchester all you have to do in Philadelphia is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, no immigration or security required.

I let my husband book our trip to Cancun, and I think it was a mistake. He got us on a flight that, on the return leg, makes a connection in Philadelphia landing at 6:53PM and leaving for Minneapolis at 8:22. When I saw this, I was immediately worried. These are my thoughts about how the night will go: Land at 6:53 Off plane at 7:00 Use bathroom, start walk to customs at 7:05 Arrive at Customs at 7:12 Leave Customs at 7:25 Arrive at Immigration at 7:30 Depart Immigration at 7:40 Get bags, recheck them at bag drop at 7:47 Walk to security, arriving at 7:55 Thru security at 8:10 Arriving at Terminal B and our assigned gate at 8:20 Not enough time! Please tell me where I'm slipping up, or if I got that correct and should rebook with the airline. This takes place on a Sunday, and I've got an important meeting I can't miss on Monday. Please Help!

Well, you don't have the order of events right. Also you have the customs and immigration and re-check orocess taking you 35 minutes. It really shouldn't take that long ate on a Sunday in Philadelphia. Your connection is certainly possible if uyour flight from Cancun is on-time.

I forgot to mention, the flight was booked separately. Will that change things? Will we have to recheck bags? If so, can we still make it?

You will have to claim your bags anyway to go through US Customs. If both tickets are on US Airways then you can show your second booking to the agent in Cancun and she should be able to tag your bags through to MSP so you can re-check them at the transfer desk in PHL.

I arrive from Rome, Italy at 3:50 pm and leave for BWI at 5:35 pm. Is there expedited customs and immigration for connections such as this?

No there is not. What airlines are you flying and where are you connecting? Were your tickets purchased on one reservation or separately?

I'm arriving from Amsterdam at 1.25PM with USAirlines at Philadelphia Airport, and departure 4.05 with American Airlines to Miami. Will 2 hours and 40 minutes be enough for this connection?

Yes. 2 hours and 40 minutes is more than enough time. Customs and immigration will only take an hour. As long as your flight isn't delayed more than an hour, you should have no issues.

Yes, that should be plenty of time.

Hi. On Sunday May 31, I will be flying from Montego Bay to Philadelphia. The plane lands in Philadelphia at 6:50PM. I have been tracking the flight for a week now and it normally arrives within five minutes of 6:50PM at either A East or A West. Our seats on this plane are literally in the last row. We then have to go through Customs and Immigration at PHL, and catch an 8:24PM flight to Baltimore leaving from Terminal C (you'd think such a short flight would go from F, but it's an A320 so it'll leave from C). Is a 1hr 34min layover coming from an A321 where our seats are at the very back? After customs and immigration, is there a security checkpoint that directly lines up with terminal C? I'd appreciate the help.

You should be OK, Lines at immigration and security shouldn't be bad that late in the evening.

  • Do you go through immigration when changing to go to Cancun

Hi, I am travelling BA from London Heathrow and changing at Philadelhia on a U.S. airways flight to Cancun. Will we need to collect our bags and go through immigration?

Yes, in Philadelphia you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the transfer desk, then go through security and to your departure gate.

I arrive from London at 2pm on Delta, go through customs, then have to fly to CHS on American/Usairways. at 3:40pm. Is this going to work as far as time goes?

Did you purchase separate tickets or did you purchase your tickets together? If separately I don't think you will get through immigration and to your bags and to customs in-time to re-check them with US Airways. It's possible if your flight arrives early and everything goes very smoothly, but if anything goes wrong or there is a delay you won't make it.

  • Terminal C to Terminal A

Hello, I am flying from PEARSON, FLIGHT US6409 arriving at 19:35 in terminal C. I have a connecting flight in terminal A for flight #AY4129 to Dublin. Do I need to go through US customs/security/re-check in? I am worried that I will not have enough time between flights for all of this?

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. All you have to do in Philadelphia is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. They are connected by walkways inside security.

That's great thanks! Would it be the same on the way back? Pre clearance in Dublin before connecting in philly? It's the same two terminals. I really appreciate your help!

Yes, it will be the same on the way back since Dublin has preclearance.

Flight arrives from SAN at 19:39, US Airways Flight 581, departs for SNN (Ireland) at 21:10 BA2296. Will I have time to connect and clear security, emigration. I'm unsure if baggage is connected?

You do not go through US Immigration when leaving the US. you will not have to go through security either. All you have to do in PHL is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. Both flights are US Airways/American Airlines.

Thanks very much ZAP. Reassuring. This is the return leg from SAN to SNN on the red eye.

  • Terminal A west to Terminal F in two hours

Im flying from Dublin Ireland, into terminal A west. Ive been told by some that I do pre-clearance customs in ireland, so i only need to go through security? Also do I do this before I take the shuttle to terminal F? HELP. can someone just lay out how this whole thing will happen.

You won't even have to go through security in Philadelphia. Your arrival into Philadelphia will be like a domestic flight. You just have to take the shuttle to Terminal F. You have plenty of time.

  • Do you go through security again when going from terminal A to F?

We have 45 minutes in between our connecting flight. The flight arrives at Terminal A but departs at Terminal F. I know we will need to take a shuttle, but will we also have to go through security again? If so, will that be enough time?

No, you will not have to go through security again. it should be barely enough time if your first flight is on-time.

Hi Kelly. Last time I was there I was supposed to have close to 2 hours layover time. Unfortunately the first flight was delayed so my layover time was down to 1hr30. Same case as yours, arrived at Terminal A and depart at Terminal F. I made it to Terminal F just in time to get onto the next flight. good luck to you.

My US Air flight arrives in Philly at 12:49 pm at terminal F and my next flight leaves at 1:45 pm from terminal C. will I have enough time?

Yes, that should be enough time if your first flight is on-time. There is a shuttle bus connecting F and the other terminals inside security.

Do I have to go through security from my domestic flight from PWM when going to next terminal to catch my flight to Cancun at Philadelphia internal ? and can I make it in 1 hour???? HELP

No, you do not have to go through security. If you arrive in Terminal F you can take a shuttle bus inside security to your departure terminal. If you arrive in a different terminal you can just walk to your departure gate. You have enough time.

Thank you Zap! I was going crazy! I have always done direct flight out of BOS , so helpful!

I am flying from Montreal to Pittsburgh via Philadelphia. I will have 1 hour 30 mins to go from Terminal F to Terminal B. Would that be enough? I am worried about the US immigration. Do I have to go through immigration at Philadelphia, or do I go through preclearance at Montreal? I will only have carry-ons.

You will go through preclerance in Montreal. All you have to do is take the shuttle bus from F to B. You should have plenty of time.

    Thank you very much, ZAP!

The returning flight from Lisbon has a 1 hour 55 minute layover in Philadelphia before my connection to Detroit. Will this be ample time to clear customs and make my connections? I will be traveling on US Airways. Thanks!
