Is it true Terminal F does not have a TSA Pre-Check? Are there any tips concerning getting through security more quickly?

Terminal F does not have security checkpoints at all. You access it via a shuttle bus from the other terminals.

Hi, My stopover in PHL is 2h on the way to KL and 1h 36m on the way back to Toronto. I'd like to know if I would need to re-check my bags in PHL on the way to AND way back from KL? If so, is the transit time sufficient to do this? Thanks Kevin

You do not have to claim and re-check your bags on the way to Kuala Lumpur as you will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. On the way back however, you will, assuming PHL is your entry point to the United States.

Thanks so much Zap. Is 1h 36mins sufficient to check out & re-check in at PHL on the way back to Toronto?

Traveling USAir DIA to Venice through PHL. If checked bag in DIA, do I need to retrieve checked bag to go through customs again in PHL?

If DIA is Denver then you do not retrieve the bag or go through customs in Denver. There is no US Immigration/Customs when leaving the US. All you have to do in Philadelphia is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

I am flying to Edinburgh, Scotland, in to Philadelphia on United from Orlando and out trans Atlantic to Edinburgh with only 1 hour 20 mins between flights. Is that enough time?

Are you use you aren't on US Airways? They have a hub in Philadelphia, not United. Also, Yes, that should be enough time. All you will have to do in Philadelphia is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

First time in an airport. Staying overnight at Airport Marriott to catch early morning flight. How do I get from Airport Marriott to Terminal A-West? Do I have to go outside and catch shuttle or can I do walk it from inside? How long does it take?

The Marriott is connected directly to Terminal B via a skybridge. From there you can walk to Terminal A if necessary.

Hi, we will be flying from Baltimore to Cancun with a connecting flight in PHL with US Airways. Our connecting time is 55min, which according to the airline will be fine. Just wondering if this will be enough time barring any delays. As I understand, we won't need to clear security again in PHL, just walk from gate to gate (I'm not sure which terminals are involved yet)?

Yes, you have the procedure correct. You will likely arrive in Terminal F, which will require taking a shuttle to Terminal A where your Cancun flight will depart.

  • Immigrations Lines Long?

I'm coming from Doha, Qatar, connect in PHL(immigration) to DEN. I have 1hr45min layover between flights and have to go through immigrations. How bad are the lines here? And will this be enough time? Thanks in advance. Safe travels.

Yes, that should be enough time. Length of lines depends greatly on what time your flight arrives and what season you are flying.

How are the lines Oct 3 around 7am? I know some airports are horrible when claiming baggage/rechecking baggage and then going through immigrations. IAH is one of them. DFW is awesome and super quick with new Kiosk(not Global Entry)

PHL should be really easy at that time as your flight will be the only international flight coming in that early.

  • Flying Dallas to Dublin via Philly

I am flying from Dallas to Dublin, with a 1 hr and 37 min layover in Philly, this december. Is that enough time to get to my next flight? And are delays usually a big thing at Philly about that time of year?

That should be plenty of time. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. PHL usually only experiences delays when the weather is really bad.

Hi, I am flying with US airways from EWR to Cancun, I have a connection in Philadelphia for 9 hours. 1. should I claim my luggage in Philadelphia? if 'Yes', should I pay again for my luggage in the second flight? 2. is it possible to get out of the airport for a nearby hotel?

If both of your flights are on the same day you will not be able to claim your luggage in philadelphia. If your connection is overnight you can have your bag checked just to PHL but you will have to pay again to check it the next day. Yes, you can always leave the airport if you wish. You will just have to go through security again upon your return.

this is an overnight flight, I don't want to claim my luggage, just to take a nap somewhere else, so the default is that it will be send to Cancun? thanks a lot!

  • Traveling to Tampa through Philadelphia

Hi I'm traveling from Egypt to Tampa on quatar airways. I will be arriving at terminal A in Philadelphia and taking a connection flight from terminal B to Tampa on quatar airways operated by United States ( I don't really understand what that means). The time between flights is only 1:44 hr . Will this be enough time and will I have to claim my luggage and recheck them again?

Your flight from Philadelphia to Tampa will be operated by US Airways, a fairly large airline in the USA that has a hub in Philadelphia. Upon arrival you will go through US Immigration, claim your baggage, go through US Customs, then re-check your bags with US Airways. Then you will go up to the departure level and through security and to your departure gate. Monitors will tell you where your departure gate is. You should have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

Ok thanks a lot for your reply that was really helpful

Hi im flying from Dublin to Greenville and i have 1hr 22mins tunover in Philly. Its first time flying to america on my own with such a short turnover..I will be arriving in terminal A and flying out in Terminal F..Will i have enough time to get to terminal F? How long does it take to get the shuttle between the terminals? Will i have to go through security or customs again?

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Dublin. All you have to do in PHL is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. There is a shuttle that goes between Terminal F and all the other terminals. You will not have to go through security. You should have plenty of time.

I am flying from Raleigh-Durham to Venice. I have a connecting flight in Philly. We have 1hr and 45 minutes. Is this enough time? I've never flown international and the airline says we need to be at the gate 60 mins early.

The airline's message is overly cautious but you should easily be at the gate 60 minutes before departure. All you have to do at PHL is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate which will be connected inside security by walkways. You have plenty of time if your first flight is on-time.

    Thanks for the help!

I am flying in to PHL on USAir from ATL and departing on Qatar Airlines for Qatar. I do not have checked baggage...therefore, will I have to go through security in PHL?

No, if you have your Qatar Airways boarding pass you won't have to go through security in PHL.

Hi I have a flight to New Orleans from Quebec city with a 2 hours connection in Philadelphia. Is it enough time? I will need to clear customs in Philadelphia, right? Do I need to pick up my luggage before? How do I know if I'll need to change terminal and take a shuttle? Thank you!

You will arrive in Terminal A in PHL, Clear US Immigration, claim your bags, and go through US Customs. Then you will re-check your bags with US Airways. Then you will go up to the departure level and go through security. You should not have to take a shuttle as all Terminals except F are connected by walkways and the MSY flights do not depart from F.

thanks a lot for the fast reply. I guess we probably won't have much time to spare but it should be ok. Not having to take a shuttle will definitely help!

  • US Air PHX to MAN UK via PHL

I will be flying US Air from Phoenix to Manchester UK with a plane change in Philadelphia. Arriving from PHX at gate C30 and departing from gate A18 and I have one hour if my flight is ontime. Do I need to run???

No, a brisk walk should suffice. All you have to do is go from gate to gate.

  • Dublin to Tampa - via PHL

I'll be flying into terminal A West and then getting a connecting flight to Tampa, probably from terminal C (both flights with US Airways). Because Dublin has US preclearance, can I just walk freely between terminals A West and C when I land in PHL, without having to clear security?

On arrival at PHL you will be considered a domestic arrival. All terminals, other than TF, are connected at post-security areas by moving walkways, just proceed to Terminal B/C (with B & C gates on opposite sides) - C gates: C16-31.

Great, thanks for the info! Read somewhere else that A West wasn't connected to the others.
