Hello, I'm travelling next Monday 11th Apr from BCN to CHI through PHI with American Airlines, both flight with a 2 hours layover in PHL. I guess we will arrive at Terminal A, but not sure if will be Termianal A-W or A-E. And I don't have any clue which terminal will be departing from. On the other hand, when do we need to go through US Immigration Point or/and Customs Point. Before or after picking up the luggage? And do we need to check again our luggage. If so, in which Terminal/counter and at which point? Thx for you help

You will arrive, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, immediately after, then go through security and to your departure gate which will be in Terminal A, B, or C.

Can I walk inside from train stop at Term E to Term F? And are there signs from Term F to find train at Term E?

You mean the Septa train? Yes, you can use that stop if your flight departs from Terminal F.

Is the connection inside and is it a long walk? Thank you...

No, it's outdoors. It's not a long walk though.

I am a Canadian arriving by AA from CDG in connection to YYZ. I will arrive at Terminal A and depart from Terminal F connection time 1h 40m. Do I have to clear US Immigration or I will use the "Air side" Shuttle to connect to my outbound flight from Terminal F to YYA

Yes, you have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security and then take the shuttle to Terminal F. This is a very difficult connection.

Arriving in PHL (from ORD) at 3:19 and departing PHL (to FRA) at 4:15. All flights are American Airlines. Do I need to re-check in or change terminals? Is this enough time for the connection? Thank you for your help.

All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. you have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

  • Do you need to clear security again between Terminal F to Terminal A

Arriving on American Airlines flight from YOW and catching a flight in Terminal A to MAD. They only gave us 1:30 in layover. Do we need to go back through the security again? Will this be enough time?

No, you don't need to go through security again. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Ottawa and American runs a shuttle bus inside security between Terminals F and A. You have enough time.

    Thanks for the info

Arriving PHL on American Airlines flight from Dublin, and departing PHL on a Frontier flight to Denver. Will pre-clear US Customs & Immigration in Dublin. AA and Frontier flights were booked separately. What is the best way to get from AA arrivals to Frontier check in?

Just walk along the curbfront to Terminal E once you have claimed your bags (I'm assuming you have checked bags since you're talking about going to the check-in desk).

I arrive from London Heathrow LHR on 19th July at 13:15 to Terminal A.. Depart for Albany from Terminal F at 15:32. Both flights with American Airlines. IS this enough time to collect baggage, pass through customs and immigration, change terminals and check in again?

That should be enough time. You will re-check your bags right after clearing customs. You don't need to check in again.

  • 50 minutes from F to A ?

Hi, This Friday I'm traveling from BGR to PHL then to LHR. I'm landing in PHL terminal F at 7:55pm and scheduled to depart from terminal A to LHR at 8:45pm...this gives me 50 minutes. Is this enough time? Any advise as to quickest way between terminals? Any helpful tips would be greatly appreciated..Thanks!

American runs a shuttle bus inside security from F to A. You have just enough time as long as your flight from Bangor is on-time.

    Thanks for your time..

Hi folks, flying into Philly with about a 2 1/2 hour connection to Richmond. Understand that I'll be changing from terminal A-F and will need to collect bag, clear immigration and customs and then recheck. My question is, do I stay airside during all of this (secure) or will I need to queue for security when I get to terminal F? Return trip is the same in reverse, any pointers appreciated.

You will go through security in A after you clear customs and re-check your bags and then take a shuttle bus to F. On your return you only have to take the shuttle bus from F to A. There is no US Customs when exiting the US. You should have enough time.

  • 70 minutes for international connection?

I had a 3.5 hour layover, but just received notice that our first flight was switched as we only have a 70 minute layover. We are flying from Toronto to Philly to London. We arrive Philly in Terminal F and depart in Terminal A. We won't have to go through customs in Philly, correct? Is 70 minutes enough time??? Boarding for European flights is supposed to start 50 minutes before, although I know that we don't need to be there right at the start.

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. When you arrive to PHL you just have to take the shuttle bus to Terminal A and board your flight. You should have enough time.

Hello, I am will arrive at Gate A3 at 4:15PM next Friday 25th , my other flight will be 6:PM at gate F , We have to clear immigration and customs, Any advice ?

That is just enough time if everything goes smoothly. You will have to take a shuttle bus to F after you clear customs, re-check your bags, and go through security.

  • 100 minutes to connect after International Flight
    Mar 19, 2016

Hi, I have an AA award ticket that recently had a time change for my incoming international flight. I now have only 1 hour, 40 minutes to get my luggage, clear customs and immigration, go through security and connect to my next flight. In December this took over 3 hours. In June, will 100 minutes be enough? AA claims it is a legal connection and there's nothing we can do until the "day of". Any advice?

It is a legal connection. They basically are correct. If the involuntary schedule change was significant you can request a refund and rebook.

Thanks! The change was under a half hour, but took away any comfort level I felt. The problem is we booked last summer when Business Class awards were available and they are not to be found now to our destination. Let me ask: there was absolute chaos among the employees in December on where we should be placed in the security line (that connected us to our domestic flight) . . . people were missing their connections left and right . . . I believe international arrivals were being put into the incorrect security lane . . .if this happens again, do we have any recourse to get in a shorter line (other than asking other passengers to skip ahead....really don't want to do that)? THANKS!

If you have a business class ticket you should be able to use the priority line in PHL.

Hi my daughter will be arriving at Philadelphia via AA at 2:38 through Terminal A east, and her connecting flight is American Eagle through Terminal F at 3:35. Can she likely make the connection and what is the easiest way to reach Terminal F from A?

Where is she arriving into Philadelphia from? Terminal A and F are connected inside security by a bus.

Hello, arriving from Los Angeles. I was wrong - she arrives at Terminal C. I finally found a decent map and can see there is a shuttle service within the secured area. Now if only the original flight arrives in time! Thank you for your reply. Does anyone know if she will have to re=check her bag - she purchased the tickets together through AA, and the connecting flight was sort of packaged with the first ticket. It's with American Eagle.

She won't have to do anything with her bag in PHL.
