  • Punta Cana to Manchester England transiting through PHL Airport

Is there a Fastrack for travellers in transit to connecting flights? I notice online it says that Pre-clearance will be available at Punta Cana apt in MAY 2017. We fly this route on July 03 2017.. I got the transfer time incorrect from my previous question to you- it is actually 2h 5 mins! Does that help us make it through customs etc and make our connecting flight or is it still too difficult? Thanks. Your advice is great.

If preclearance is open at the time of your trip then all you will have to do in Philadelphia is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. That will be plenty of time.

I arrive from Norfolk at 16:38 & leave at 20:40 for London. Does this allow enough time to walk from arrival to departure gate?

Yes, 4 hours is plenty of time.

sorry ZAP, I meant 18:38 arrival at Philli not 16:38.

Yes, that is still plenty of time. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

What is the fastest way to get from Terminal F to C? I am a fast walker but I also understand there is a shuttle. How often do the shuttles run? I have a 40 minute connection.

The shuttles run very frequently but they arrive closer to A (so past C) and if you're a fast walker, I think you can walk faster.

I am looking into a flight that arrives just before 8am in July, then I'd have to make a connection flight around 10am. (2hrs 15mins or so) Coming from Toronto airport in Canada, then going internationally, would I need to pick up my bags, or would they be checked all the way through? Would 2h 15min be enough time to get the bags and go through customs to make it to the next flight? From what I understand they'd likely be at different terminals, but I may be mistaken.

If both flights are on the same reservation then all you have to do in Philadelphia on the way to Qatar is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate as you will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. All gates in Philadelphia are connected inside security by walkways and/or shuttle buses. You have enough time if all tickets are on the same reservation.

Is there a way to check whether all tickets are on the same reservation? Or would that automatically be the case if I book the flights from one airline (Qatar airlines uses an american airlines plane for the Toronto to PHL portion of the flight), but all can be booked through Qatar.) Thanks!

That would automatically be the case if you do what you describe.

    Thank you.

Flying into u.s. From cur. Stop in clt and connect to Phl. Where will I have to go thru immigration and customs?

Yes, in Charlotte you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, and go through security and to your departure gate.

Trying to prepare a teenager for her first solo trip! Will she need to get bags and go through customs & security and then back through again for her San Juan flight or can she stay sirside and bags go on automatically? Thanks

Yes, in Philadelphia she will have to go through US Immigration, claim her bags,go through US Customs, re-check her bags at the re-check desk, go through security and to her departure gate. Flights from the US Mainland to Puerto Rico are considered domestic flights.

Flying into PHL from Charles DeGaulle on November 6. Arriving approx 1:45 in the afternoon. My connecting flight is at 4:00 to Tampa. How long should I expect to spend in customs? I've heard there is a new system in place....

That should be enough time. Early November is one of the least busy times of the year.

We are flying out of Chicago with a layover in PHL to St Thomas. This flight only has a 43 minute layover. We are flying American, is this enough time? Are all American flights out of the same terminal?

American uses Terminals A, B, and C in Philadelphia. They are all connected inside security by walkways. You have enough time if the flight from Chicago is on-time.

Im travelling with AA from Montego Bay to Philadelphia and then take another flight to London and then from London to LCA (Cyprus). Do i need to go through US Immigration, claim my bags and recheck bags again or go straight to my departure gate in philadelphia?

Yes, you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go through security and to your departure gate.

Thanks for ur reply! Hope that one and a half hour will be ok for this process.

Hi we are travelling from London Heathrow to san francisco via philadelphia, coming in to terminal A and leaving from terminal A with a 2hrs 15 min layover. Will that be anough time? We are flying BA on the both parts of the trip, operated by american airlines.

That should be enough time if everything goes smoothly.

Hi I will arrive on Sunday to Phil airport coming from Madrid (AA flight 741) at 3.55 pm and need to connect to Miami (AA fllight 2057) departing 5.50 pm. I am travelling only with carry on. How much time will take me to clear migrations and customs. Do I have enough time between both flights?

You should have just enough time if everything goes smoothly. Having just a carry-on helps.

Thanks. But do you know if migrations on Sunday at that time is crowdy?

Yes, Immigration during the mid afternoon during any day in the summer is crowded.

  • ticketing after baggage claim

My upcoming air travel was booked on two itineraries/locator numbers. Even though both airlines, (American, British Airways) are One World partners, American has told me that because my cruise line booked direct with British Airways instead as a One World partner, I can not check my bag all the way from Bangor to Lyon, or the reverse on coming home. They tell me I will have to claim my bag when I arrive in PHL, then go to BA ticketing to re-check the bag for the rest of the trip. I've often made connections at PHL and am familiar with the layout, but have never had to completely leave and come back through ticketing for BA & security again. Also on return, instead of the usual transfer process, I will again have to go through ticketing, this time for American, and security again. American has told me that my flight to PHL is expected to land at terminal B, but the return to BGR invariably is from F. Once I pick up my bag,n in either instance, what is the easiest/quickest way to get to the correct ticketing area? I really want to avoid having to use a smaller carry on size bag if at all possible.

The quickest way to get between ticketing areas is just to walk outside security. It's not really that far.

Do we have to exit the terminal at PHL and go through Security again before getting on our flight to Ireland?

If both tickets are on the same reservation then no, you don't.

Remember, you are in Philthy. Airport personnel, pretending to help, will run off with your bag and steal your money. Trust no one in this part of the Country. They even pelt Santa with snow balls at football games.
