  • Extra Security for Tel Aviv bound flights
    Apr 1, 2015
I have 2:17 hours before flight to Tel Aviv on US Airway on 5/30. Is there additional time needed for security on Israel bound flights and is that enough time. Arriving from Chicago at Terminal B.

I will be flying US Airways into PHIL from Jamaica. I have a 1hr and 20 min layover in PHIL before my next plane departs. Will I need to go to get my bags from baggage claim, re-check them, go through customs and make my next flight? If so, why do I need to get my bags, shouldnt they make the connection on their own? Also, will I have enough time to make it through everything in 1hr and 20mins?

Yes, you will arrive in Terminal A, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then re-check your bags at the transfer desk, then go through security and to your departure gate. You have to claim your bags so that they are with you when you go through US Customs so you are there if there are any items that require paying duty or are illegal. 1 hr 20 minutes is 10 minutes below the minimum recommended international to domestic connection time at PHL.

Do you what time I should be at my departing gate prior to my departure time of 5:45?

As soon as you can. They will probably start boarding at around 5:15, maybe before if it's a big plane, maybe a little later if it's a small plane.

  • PHL to Punta Cana
    Mar 8, 2015
I am Arriving in PHL from CMH on a US Airways flight with a 55 minute layover. I will then be switching airlines to American Airlines for my flight to Punta Cana, Will this be enough time? Also, will I have to go through security again?

Both flights will be on US airways. You do not have to go through security. You just have to walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

  • Only a half hour between connection to international flight to Halifax
    Feb 3, 2015
Received email notification from American Airlines that there has beeb a change to my flight times (we used Business points)and now we are arriving on US Airways 851 from Orlando and have only 30 minutes to get to US Airways 4545 ( international flight) to Halifax. Is this even possible? It looks like these are different terminals as well. How fast is the shuttle from A east to west? If we don't make the connection, what do we do next? Stressed out!! Any advice would be appreciated.

US 4545 will likely leave from Terminal F. 30 minutes is quite difficult. I would contact US Airways and ask for an earlier flight from Orlando if you can make that.

  • Short layover

I would appreciate your help.Arriving internationl in PHL have 2 hour layover transfering to domestic flight to Detroit-Canadian passport.Should I have enough time or change my flight and how do I get from Terminal A to Domestic Terminal-F I think.Thank you.

Your flight to Detroit probably will not depart from F. Where are you flying in from? If you are flying out of Terminal F it is connected to the other terminals by a shuttle bus inside security.

Yes, in philadelphia you will arrive in Terminal A, go through US Immigration, then claim your bags, go through Customs, then re-check your bags at the transfer desk, then you will go through security and to your departure gate.

  • International transfer

Hi, I'm planning to fly to Montreal from Heathrow, London travelling via Philadelphia. Do I need to clear US customs when I get to Philadelphia and how long should I allow for the transfer? Many thanks.

You will pre-clear US Immigration and customs in Montreal. However, you will arrive in Terminal F and depart from Terminal A, opposite sides of the airport, so leave at least an hour between flights.

  • Connection time

Hi! I want to book a flight from Madrid, Spain, to Las Vegas that goes through Philadelphia. I have 1 hour 35 minutes from arrival to departure. Both flights are operated by American Airlines, but I can't find the specifics about the terminals. Will I be able to make it if I travel with no checked luggage? Thank you in advance

    Yes, that is enough time.

  • Traveling from Montreal to Miami via PHL
    Dec 17, 2014
Hello, I'm travelling with US airways from Montreal to Miami with a 2hr and 25 min connection time in PHL. Do I have to recheck my bags there and pass through US customs or i just pick them up in Miami?

You will pre-clear US Immigration and customs in Montreal. All you have to do in Philadelphia is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You will arrive in Terminal F, and will have to take a shuttle bus (which runs inside security) to your departure terminal.

  • Chi - Phil to London is 2 hrs enough layover time?
    Dec 4, 2014
Flying from Chicago to Philidelphia catching a connecting flight to London and have 2 hours in Philly. Is this enough time to get bags and go through customs. American Airlines

You do not have to claim your bags or go through US Customs when leaving the US. You will go through UK Immigration and Customs when you get to London. All you have to do in Philadelphia is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have plenty of time.

My son is travelling from CIncinnati to Manchester changing at Philadeplhia. He arrives at Terminal C at 7.55pm and leaves from Terminal A at 8.50pm to Manchester on 31.8.14. As he is travelling on his own, I wonder if u could let me know if this will be enough time for him to catch the connecting flight home.

Yes, that should be enough time. All he has to do in PHL on his way to Manchester is to walk from his arrival gate to his departure gate, which are connected by walkways inside security.

Thank u very much for your reponse. U have put my mind at rest now

  • Electronic devices connecting flight
    Aug 15, 2014
Hi, when you fly from Europe to the US electronic devices need to be able to be switched on and be fully charged before flying to the US. We will fly from Amsterdam to Philadelphia and from Philadelphia to Knoxville. After the roughly 9 hr flight from Europe to the US I'm pretty sure the iPad and iPods batteries will be done. Will this be a problem for our flight from Philadelphia to Knowxville? Are we allowed to bring those kind of devices on board with empty batteries when you have a connecting flight? Thanks for the help!

They do not have that requirement when going through security at US Airports.

  • 2.5 hours to change | Terminal A West to Terminal F | Can I make it?
    Mar 19, 2014
Hi, I am arriving in PHL from London on BA67 at 16.10hrs. I have a domestic connection flight to Roanoke on AA4840 at 1845. This gives men about 2.5 hrs. I think I arrive in Terminal A West, while my connection is in Terminal F. I am not a US citizen. Will I be able to make it to my connection flight? Do I have to check out and check in my baggages again?

Yes, when you go through immigration you will then claim your bags and go through US customs. Then you will be able to re-check them at the re-check desk. Note that your flight to Roanoke will be operated by US Airways (it probably won't be all called American by the time of your flight). Then you will go through security and take a shuttle bus to Terminal F. You should have enough time.

You have sufficient time for transfer. On arrival at Terminal A West you will go through passport check, pick up your bags, go through customs clearance & re-check-in your bag. A big U.S. Airways shuttle bus will take you from Gate A1 to gate F14 inside security.
