PWM Airport Overview
The Portland International Jetport PWM, which calls itself simply Jetport, is located between Maine Tpk I-95 (Exit 46) and I-295 (Exit 5B), and Congress Street and Western Avenue - five miles or a 15-minute drive from the city of Portland, Maine. It is a modern airport that has retained a small-town Maine atmosphere. The Jetport is served by some major and minor airlines offering nonstop and connecting flights to East Coast cities and to Nova Scotia. Air, as well as ground traffic, is at its height during the summer season when Easterners flock to Maine on vacation. It is advisable to make prior reservations for transportation and parking if you plan to travel to Main during the summer season. No curbside check-in is available at present. The airport is open 24/7, however ticket counters open 5am, while some open Sundays at 6am.
The passenger terminal is easy to navigate with ticketing and baggage claim on the lower level and access to boarding gates on the upper level. The Jetport is user-friendly and fully accessible to disabled persons. It offers at pre-security a Visitor Information Center, a full-service restaurant, an ATM, newspapers, gift shop, and at post-security a gift shop, an ATM, a restaurant and Starbucks.
Parking options include a Parking Garage, along with a number of othe parking lots, all within walking distance of the passenger terminal.
To get from the Airport to your destination, you can rent a car, take a taxi or limo or a shuttle van. Information is available at the Ground Transportation Booth outside baggage claim area. Mermaid Transportation, among many other shuttle services, takes you to Portland, while Jetport Shuttle Service takes you to surrounding communities.
