Prishtina Adem Jashari International Airport PRN serves the small Balcan Republic of Kosova (an area of 10,908 sq-km with a population of 2.5 million), which is surrounded by the countries of Serbia, Albania, Montenegro & Macedonia. Distances by air between the Airport and Thessaloniki, Sofia, Tiarana, Belgrade & Podgorica are almost equal. The Airport is operated by Limak-Aeroport de Lyon on a 20-year contract. During 2015/16 Jashari Airport had received 15 awards, mostly for its corporate social responsibility and sustainability.
Prishtina Airport is located 3 km from the town of Slatina, and is 18 km southwest of the city of Prishtina (a half hour drive), which is situated at the north-east edge of the Kosova valley, and in the center of the western Balcan peninsula.
With 1.8 million passengers in 2016, Prishtina Airport is served by a host of international regular and low-fare airlines offering direct flights to many European cities, as well as by seasonal charter flights.
- Check-in opens two hours prior to flight and closes 40 minutes prior to scheduled departure.
- Passengers need to show their passport at check-in, passport control and boarding gate.
Prishtina Airport has a new terminal complex, opened in 2013, with Arrivals & Departure Terminals under one roof:
The Departure terminal houses passport control, a restaurant, 2 business lounges, duty-free shops, and access to the boarding area with gates 201 (connecting to gates 101/102), 202B, 202A & 203 (connecting to gates 103/104).
The Arrivals terminal with gates 101-102 and 103-104 on opposite sides, lead to the baggage claim area, and access o the Information desk and rental car counter. The taxi rank is outside. This terminal also houses to the right check-in counters 1-23; near the self-check-in kiosks is access to the Departures Terminal & its Passport Control.
Amenities and services inside the terminal: Aside from food & drink and two small shops, the new Business Lounge offers Wi-Fi connection, food & drink, newspapers & TV. The post office is open daily 8am-3pm (tel. +381 3838 548 442.). For your banking needs there are Raiffeisen BKT bank branches inside the terminal, as well as an ATM cash machine (at main entrance). The 17 /02 Lounge is available on a one-time usage basis, or by yearly membership. Members are met in the departure area and assisted thereafter - baggage is taken care of, check-in procedure expedited, and passport control in fast counters, where available.
Parking is available in the parking lot close to the passenger terminal.
Present and future Airport developments: In October 2016 it was announced that Limak intends to extend the current runway to 3,000 meters, exend the taxiway, and to invest in new technology for an insrument landing system.
In February 2017 Limak agreed to reduce ground handling service fees by 50 percent for passenger airlines - expected to further increase air services and destinations.
