Main Terminal / Concourses at New Quito Mariscal Sucre UIO Airport

Mariscal Sucre International has one passenger terminal, divided  into a national and an international area. It is equipped with five swing gates capable of directing arriving passengers to either Immigration or to baggage claim. In addition, there are numerous ground slots where passengers walk to the aircraft from the terminal. The International Hall has two levels each for Departures & Arrivals.

NOTE:  On February 19, 2013 - Marciscal Sucre Airport will close and the New Quito International Airport - called 'Mitad del Mundo' - located north of Quito - will become operational the following day. (At present it seems that it willl tain its Mariscal-based airport code UIO). 
The first phase of construction of the new airport is to acommodate 5 million passengers a year and will have South America's longest runway.
The new airport encompasses 1500 hectares, with 70 to 100 of which can be used for future expansion.  The First Phase of constuction offers 38,000 square meters of space, with have 60 airline counters, 45 aircrft stands and 903 parking spaces.
