Recife Guararapes REC Airport Overview

Recife Guararapes International Airport REC (formally named 'Recife/Guararapes Gilberto Freyre'), opened in 2004 - is the largest airport in Brazil's north and northeast regions and is operated by Infraero. The industrial city of Recife, with a large port, is situated at Brazil's most eastern point bordering on the Atlantic Ocean.

Guararapes Airport is located 14 km from the city center of Recife (1 km from Boa Viagem beach) in the northern region of Pernambuco, Brazil, S.A, and  accessible via motorwayy BR101.

With a long runway and an estimated 6.4 million passengers inn 2012, Recife Guararapes International is served by some domestic & international airlines offering direct and connecting flights to all points of the globe.
At present,  GOL Transportes Aeros is handling more than half of all of the Airport's flights, while over three quarters of the total flights are domestic flights, and one quarter of the total flights are international flights. As the Airport is expanding, more airlines and more destinations will be added.

Parking options at Recife Guararapes Airport:  The multi-level parking garage has direct access to the passenger terminal.

To get from Recife Guarapes Airport to your destination, you can take a taxi or the train:  At present, RRFSA has a rail stop on Avenue Sul, west of the Terminal, which branches out on the next stop into the eastern and northern part of the city. It also stops at the bus station, which is far from the airport.
