The passenger terminal at Recife Guararapes International, opened in 2004; its Abelardo da Hora statue represents Brazil's noted socioligist Gilberto Freyre. The terminal features an expanded apron with 26 aircraft stands, and its departures area has 64 check-in counters. The terminal offers a so-called 'airport shopping' concept, which represents a comfortable business area with high-quality products and services. Its commercial space, to be occupied in stages, will include 142 shops.
