  • Departing FCO drop off for pets in Carriers?
    Jun 24, 2014

Hello, traveling with 2 dogs on United out of FCO but heard there is a separate place to drop off "cargo" other than baggage check in. Any and all info is greatly appreciated. Stressed dog mom here!

I understand your being stressed out. I searched United's and FCO's sites - could find no reference to pets. Usually, the dogs would be in the hull of the passenger's carrier. Once they are unloaded they will have to go through quarantine, which facility may be in another area of the airport. Note that on arrival at FCO - after you went through passport check, & customs clearance you may inquire where to pick up your dogs. Your first step is to call United at 1-800-824-6200 to find out as much as possible regarding your dogs.

I was told they no longer quarantine dogs coming from USA to EU as long as they aren't sick. Please advise as your post is from 2014 and we are flying our dog in from the USA to Rome in July.

  • Bus connection from FCO

I am travelling from Stokholm to latina in Italy via Rome, we will land in terminal 3 around 1730. My bus leaves at 1800 outside T3. Will I have enough to make the connection assuming my flight is on shedulee

It should be pretty close, as Stockholm and Italy are both within Schengen you won't have to go through any immigration in FCO.

We will be arriving at Terminal 3 aboard United/Lufthansa flight from Frankfurt. Does anyone know which area-G or H? Then departing Terminal 1 on Alitalia for Venice at 2:30 PM. Which gate?? Trying to save time. Thanks Marjorie

You arrive at Terminal 3, Boarding Area H & depart from Terminal 1, Boarding Area B. On arrival, simply follow signs to 'Boarding Area" (gates H - B). (G gates at T5 ar onl for US & Israel flights). Terminal 1 has Boarding Area B & gates B1-B30 (B14-B23 on ground level, & B27-B30 (by escalator); and B1-B13 on first level).

If I travel from LBA (Leeds, GB) to FCO with a US passport, what customs line, if any, do I use, and how long will it take?

There will likely be a line for Non-EU passport holders. Yes, you will have to go through Immigration and Customs as the UK is not in the Schengen area.

  • How Long to Clear Customs?

This forum is incredibly helpful. We are flying from Atlanta to FCO next wek. Do you get your checked bags befors going through customs? We have a driver picking us up but i don't know how long it will take to get bags and clear customs. He charges an extra fee if he has to wait too long. Thanks!

I would estimate it will take 30-45 minutes.

  • Arrival Meeting

I am arriving from USA on a connection flight from Amsterdam on KLM and want to meet friends that are arriving on an American A/L flight from JFK. Will we be arriving at the same terminal and where is a good meeting point? Their flight is scheduled to arrive two hours earlier than mine.

Yes, you will be both arriving in Terminal 3, but different parts of Terminal 3. Here is a good guide to navigating FCO - http://www.roninrome.com/%20transportation/where-to-meet-at-fco

I intend to take a flight to Casablanca (Morocco) ticket to Paris, but Alitalia's ticket has stopover in Rome (FCO airport), and between the arrival and departure from Rome to Paris I have 16 hours, is there any service to keep my bags while I go and visit the city during this time even if it's just for the smell the air of Rome.

  • How to get from T1 to T5 ? How long?
    Jun 5, 2013

Arriving at FCO on Air France (T1) and departing on USAirways (T5) to the U.S. Connection time is 1.5 hours. How to get from T1 to T5 ? Will I have enough time ?

You have to take a shuttle bus. You will have to pray your first flight is on-time.

Thank you for your quick reply. How often does the shuttle run? How long is the ride between T1 and T5? Is taking a taxi a better option? How much for taxi?

It's Italy, it basically runs when it feels like it from what I can tell. I don't know if you could get a taxi to take you that short distance.

  • Where to meet
    Mar 31, 2013

First party arrives at terminal 3 and the second party arrives at terminal 1, two hours later. Where can we meet? Can the first party easily meet us outside of terminal 3? If so, is there a good spot to meet?

It is best to meet at either terminal's arrivals level (baggage level), in front of the information counter. For detailed terminal information I suggest you open www.ifly.com/fco, then click on 'Terminal Map' under QUICK LINKS and scroll down to the detailed text.

    Thank you!

  • Connecting flights - Immigration

Landing in FCO with Alitalia - taking separate flight same day to VCE - do we need to go thru immigration ? I will need to collect my luggage for next flight - how much time will we need between flights

International arrivals at FCO need to go through 'non-Schengen' passport clearance; Alitalia uses Terminals 1 (Boarding Area B, gates B1-30) and Terminal 3 (Boarding areas D, G & H with gates D1-10, G1-14, & H6-19. When connecting from gate to gate, follow signs to "Boarding Area" (gates B through H). All boarding areas are inter-connected. Your ticket & the overhead screens on arrival will indicate flight & gate numbers.

  • How long @ customs/immig?

Hi, we are arriving at Leonardo da Vinci at about 10:30 a.m. and taking the express train to Termini train station. How much time should we anticipate at the airport for baggage, customs & immigration? I need to know so I can figure out which train to La Spezia will work for us. Thanks!

Count on one hr to get from arriving plane to the train station: The Leonardo Express to Rome's Termini railway station runs every half hour and takes 30 mins and costs 14 Euros; This train is part of the Ferrovie dello Stato which has two lines. For time table, open trenitalia.com
