  • Aegean to Meridiana connection

I am travelling from Athens (Aegean Air) to Olbia (Meridiana) with one checked bag and have a 90 minute window. They are both in Terminal 3. Is this too tight?

The checked bag makes this a little difficult if it's two separate reservations.

Thank you Maybe I should ditch the bag in Rome (I assume there are lockers) and then do carryon and pick it up on my return. That might be faster.

That wouldn't save you much time as you would still have to leave security to claim your bag and store it.

Hello, I'm flying to Catania via Rome from Heathrow , I purchased my ticket from Alitalia directly - the stopover is 1.5 hrs. Do I have to collect my bags and is this enough time?

You do not have to collect your bags. You should have enough time.

  • Trying to catch a flight on a different airplane at FCO within 60 min.

Hello, New to this. Thanks for any help in advance. Will be arriving at FCO from London via Norwegian. Will need to catch a RyanAir flight to CTA. I have one ticket and one checked bag. There's about 60 minutes between flights. Will my luggage be transferred? Will I need to pick up my bag and bring it to the new carrier? Do I have enough time? Thanks again!

Ryanair and Norwegian both don't interline bags, so you will have to transfer them yourself. I think this connection is pretty much impossible.

    Thank you, appreciate the information.

  • How far is Terminal 3 to Terminal 1
    Jul 22, 2016

I only have 55 minutes to transfer from one flight t the other

They're not really that far - just two sides of the same big building. However there is currently construction and they aren't currently connected. I don't know when the construction will be complete. FCO airport's website is really bad.

I am flying in on an AA flight to Terminal 5. I have to meet friends flying into Terminal 3. How easy and how long with this take?

No flights arrive in Terminal 5. It is a departure only terminal. You will arrive in Terminal 3.

  • 90 Minute Layover?

Flying from ATH to YYZ with a layover in FCO. Flight from ATH is on Alitalia and have a 90 minute layover in FCO before departing on Alitalia to YYZ. We will have checked baggage and flying on one ticket. Is this possible? I assume baggage will be transfered automatically and we will have to go through passport control and security? Thank you

Yes, that should be enough time. You won't even have to go through security, just passport control.

I will be arriving in Terminal 3 from Tel Aviv at 1:20pm and departing from Terminal 1 to Venice at 2:30pm. I have 1 ticket for both flights on Alitalia. The checked bags will go straight through. Do I have enough time?

That's barely enough time if everything goes smoothly.

  • From T3 to T2 in less than an hour?

Hi, we will arrive in T3 around 7 in the momrning and the connecting flight leaves from T2 at 8.15. All within Schengen, but will continue from Rome with a domestic flight. Any helpful hints welcome indeed. Thank you!

Do you have checked bags? If so this will be difficult since you'll have to transfer them yourself to Ryanair. If not this should be enough time.

  • Terminal 1 to 3 In 45 minutes?

I have an Alitalia flight from Malta that lands in FCO terminal 1 at 2pm and then Alitalia to JFK (USA) that leaves 245pm. This is a legal connection according to airline. Bags will be checked through. Will we have to go through passport control? And can we walk (run) between gates/terminals or do we need to take an airport shuttle? Family of 5 so really hoping to make the connection. Thank you!!

Yes, you will have to go through schengen exit passport control. Alitalia may call this a legal connection but it's not at all reasonable.

I'm flying from Belgrade to Tokyo via Rome. 100 minutes in between flights at FCO (one connected ticket, I will check the baggage for Tokyo), so I am wondering will my baggage make it on the plane for Tokyo? Thank you in advance for your experiences.

Yes, that should be enough time.

  • Connection between terminal 3 and 1 and stamping passport
    Jul 18, 2016

Hi, I have a flight from Amman to Spain that has a connection at Rome via ALITALIA, I have a shengen Visa that was issued by Spanish Consulate; I was told that my Visa should be stamped/Checked first by the country who issued the visa otherwise I might not get a new one in the future. My question, when moving between terminal 3 to 1 gate (b18), will the Italians authority check my passport ? will I be considered entering the Italian lands although I did not step out of the Airport ? and what is the passport control the people is talking about ? Appreciated

Yes, that is the passport control you will go through and the Italians will give you a Schengen Area entry stamp.

Thank you ZAP! Is it an issue for next time shengen visa application ?

It should not be an issue - they should have record of you entering in Italy and will have record of you exiting as long as you do so as prescribed by your visa.

I have a reservation from LAX to FCO to Catania, all on the same ticket. will I need to pick up checked bags to clear customs in FCO or will they simply be transferred to our next flight? How much time should I allow?

You won't have to pick up your bags in Rome.

thanks. do you think that 1 hour 2o min will be enough time to catch our connecting flight? thank you!

  • A3 to UA FCO Connection

Flying ATH-FCO-ORD on A3 and then UA. One person on single ticket, one on separate tickets. Both will already have printed onward UA boarding passes in first class. Is it necessary to go to T5 or is an airside connection possible? Connection time is 2:40, no checked luggage.
