I am flying into Rome on American Airlines and then taking a flight up to Florence on Alitalia. Do I have to exit the airport after going through customs, or can I proceed to ALitalia within the airport? What about my bags, do they transfer from my American flight to Alitalia?

Hello, I will be flying from London to Bucharest with Alitalia (both legs on one ticket) and I need to get from T3 to T1 for connecting flight (1.5h between flights). Do I need to reclaim my hold luggage and go thru check in once again? Do I need to go thru security and passport control at each terminal? Or is there a way to be transferred between the terminals without leaving international area? What's the walking distance between the two terminals? I will be travelling with EU passport. Thanks!

Travelling all Alitalia, Chicago to Bari with under 2hr connex in FCO. Is a checked bag very likely to make that connex, or u recommend trvael extra light carry-on only?

Hi, I'm arriving from Abu Dhabi at 6:55 AM, and I have another flight to Paris at 10:15. These are bought on two different tickets, although both flights were sold by Alitalia, and I don't have an EU passport. I was wondering if this is enough time, or if I should reschedule it for a later flight. I have checked luggage, but they should go in priority since I'm flying business. Hope you guys can help

    It should be enough time.

i am arriving at 6.55 am at FCO t3and have to take Alitalia AZ 628 at T3 gate 11, have a layover of 2.35 minutes. what is route to gate 11 and is this time enough. i have booked my flight on Alitalia from Mumbai to Chicago

OK, that should be enough time. You just have to go through security and to your departure gate which will be in the same general area.

  • How much time is recommended for connection on Alitalia

I am going to be booking flights on Alitalia from JFK to Palermo. For the connection in FCO there are a few options, ranging from connection time of 1:20 to 1:45 to 3:15. I am not familiar with FCO, and how the connections are made with Alitalia. What would be the best amount of time to allow for a connection? I would prefer to be more cautious, but of course, less travel time is always a plus. TIA.

Then book the 3:15. Alitalia isn't exactly punctual and FCO can be a mess in the summer.

I am flying from U.S. to Rome on AirBerlin at Terminal 1, arriving at 755 p.m. I am then getting a Meridiana flight from Rome to Olbia, which leaves at 9:30 pm from Terminal 3. Will this be enough time between flights/ Any suggestions to make sure I don't miss my flight?

Air Berlin does not fly to Rome from the US and does not arrive in Terminal 1. That flight is probably on American and arrives in Terminal 3. No, I don't think that's enough time between flights.

  • 50min connection at FCO: BCN-> FCO; FCO->LYS

Hi, I'll have a 50min transit at FCO, arriving at 20.05 from Barcelona with vueling and leaving at 20.55 with Easyjet to Lyon on Saturday, May, 21st. So I'm guessing I'll have to transit between T2 and T3. I'll have carry-on only, and a European passport. Both flights are domestic flights. Do you think that's enough time? Will I have to pass through security? Thanks a lot for your help

You should not have to go through security. You can make this but obviously only if you're checked in online for both flights and the flight from Barcelona is on-time.

Ok, thanks a lot for your reply! So terminals are connected one to another from the inside/boarding area then?

I arrive FCO on Delta from ATL, for example, at 7:00 am with checked bags. How long should I plan for before a departure on Alitalia to Catania? When I return to FCO from Catania, how long should I plan for before Delta departure to ATL?

I would allow 3 hours on the way to Catania and 4 hours on the way back to Atlanta.

    thank you for your help

Hi! We are flying into FCO on United from the US and arrive at 10:30 am, we want to catch a 1:25pm flight on Alitalia to Cagliari. We'll have checked luggage. Is that enough time to get our baggage, go through immigration and then through security again to make the flight? The flight after that is at 3:05pm, we'll have a toddler with us so we don't want to be waiting around at the airport if don't have to.

That should be enough time. Note that you will go through immigration before you claim your luggage.

Arriving FCO on Air Canada at 9:35am, have connecting flight on AZ to PMO at 11:10am. Ticket was booked completely through Air Canada. they told me that if I miss my connection to PMO they will book me and family on the next flight to PMO?? Just wondering if you think I have enough time between connections??? Or if anyone has done this before?

Yes, that is correct. You should have just enough time.

I will have to go through passport control, claim baggage, clear customs and recheck baggage with Alitalia correct?

Yes, you will also have to go through security.
