I will be flying from Chicago into Rome (FCO) on Delta (operated by Alitalia) on Sunday, August 27, arriving at 7:30 AM. I have a connecting flight to Athens on same airline (at a different terminal) leaving at 8:45 AM. I will have checked baggage and am U.S. citizen. My questions are: 1) Do I pick up checked baggage and take to next terminal or will this be done automatically for me? 2) How long will it take to enter the European Union? 3) What can I expect to happen? Thanks in advance!

You won't have to claim your bags in Rome. All you have to do is follow signs to your departure gate. You will go through Schengen Entry passport control on the way. You should have enough time.
Hello - we will be flying in to Rome on American Airlines on September 23, 2017, with only carryon baggage. This flight arrives at 7:35. We are looking at an Alitalia flight to Trieste that leaves at 9:15. Is there sufficient time to make this flight, as the tickets will be purchased separately and not as part of one itinerary?
Flying from the USA on American to Rome, arriving 9:15; separate ticket on Vueling to Palermo; are they both in Terminal 3? After picking up baggage, we will go to Vueling check~in; how much time to allow before catching flight to Palermo?
Yes, they are both in Terminal 3. I would want at least 2.5 hours between flights.
We are flying into Rome from Catania on Sep. 4th arriving FCO at10:35 our flight to Toronto leaves at 14:05 will this be enough time to collect our luggage/switch terminals/check-in for international flight?
I will be flying Delta into Rome from the United States in late September. How much time should I allow to get through customs and catch an Alitalia flight out of another terminal to Verona? I will have carry on baggage only.
2 hours would be what I recommend.
The person making arrangements for me is now telling me that I won't go through customs until I reach Verona... Is that possible (the second flight is apparently a Delta flight operated by Alitalia)? And if so, how much does that change the time allowance?
Our travel agent booked our return flight from Palermo to FCO then to JFK mid October with not much turnaround time. We arrive from Palermo at 9:05 am and depart FCO for JFK at 10:40 am. From what I've read that may not be enough time. Are there lockers at FCO where we can store our main luggage and just take carryon's to Palermo to make the transition go quicker?
Are both flights on the same reservation? What airlines? That should be enough time.
Both flights (from Palermo to Rome and Rome to JFK) are on Alitalia.
