How much time do airlines require to check iluggage and catch a connecting flight to Palermo from FCO?

If you're buying two separate tickets leave at least 3, preferably 4 hours for your connection.

28 July I shall arrive at 13h10 to T3 from Ibiza with a Vueling flight and have another Alitalia flight from T1 to catch to Belgrade at 14h50. I'll try to have only a hand luggage, at least for the first flight. I have a EU passport. Do I have a chance to make it? Thank you

You have a chance. Note that much of the airport is closed due to a fire so you may not arrive where you think you will.

I am in the process of booking a flight with multiple connections but the only one of concern is the one in Rome. I will have one hour to get from the International Terminal that is arriving from Germany and connecting Rynair to Lamezia Terme. Will one hour leave me enough time or am I rolling the dice....it is a one ticket flight from SFO to SUF

FCO does not have an "International Terminal". it has Terminals 1, 2, and 3. 3 is currently mostly closed due to a fire. Ryanair normally uses Terminal 3, but it is unclear what they are using currently. Your flight if it is soon will probably be rerouted to Rome-Ciampino airport. You can't buy a ticket from SFO to SUF on Ryanair as they do not fly to the US and do not interline with any other airlines. What exactly is your itinerary and what exactly is your question?

Hi, etihad flight arrives FCO 6:40 am, we need to connect to a Vueling flight for a 9:05 departure. No, not bought together... Is this connection doable? I am very worried, we will miss it

Is it soon? Will you have checked bags? If the answer to both is yes, then you are correct, it will be very hard to make it.

Do we have to pick up our luggage if we are transferring airlines in Rome? We are trying to make an earlier connection than we have booked, and want to know what we need to do.

It depends if your tickets were purchased on one reservation or not.

It was two different reservations with two different airlines.

Then yes, you will have to claim it and re-check it.

Coming from Abu Dhabi on alitalia t1 and leaving for JFK from t3 with a 90 min layover. Is it enough to make the flight to JFK??

If you are traveling soon you will probably not depart from T3, it is closed due to a fire. You should have enough time, just follow signs and instructions.

Travelling on 6 August...Will the airport reopen??

Hopefully, nobody really knows when it will reopen.

I'm landing in FCO Friday 7/24 and then have 80 minutes to get on my connecting flight to Naples. I'm flying Alitalia. Is that enough time?

That probably won't be enough time considering what a mess the airport is right now. Luckily there are many flights to Naples.

September flight with 90 minutes between flights. All flights are on Alitalia Enough time?.

That should be enough time. Hopefully the airport will be fully reopened by then.

  • Transfer from terminal 3to terminal 5

I am arriving in terminal 3 next Wednesday at 10AM with my wife and 2 small children, leaving from terminal 5 at 11:30. I trust I will not have to pick up my luggage, but do I have to clear customs, how do I transfer and is there enough time? Is there a service for hire that can guide me and make sure I make my transfer?

The airport is a mess right now. Nearly half of it is closed due to a fire. You will probably not arrive in Terminal 3 and 90 minutes is probably not enough time for your connection. There is no service for hire. You will just have to follow signs and instructions and hope for the best.

I'm flying with American Airlines, arriving August 17th at Terminal 3 from Philadelphia, PA and then leaving from Terminal 1 to Palermo. I have a 3.5 hour layover and was wondering if this is sufficient time to catch my next flight since Fiumicino is a bit chaotic right now. I called AA and asked if arrival at Terminal 3 would be changed due to the fire, and I was told that arrival will be at terminal 5. Isn't that terminal for departures only? On my way back to the USA, August 31st, how would I go from Terminal 1 to Terminal 5? I have a 2.5 hour layover. Would I have enough time?

From what I understand US airlines that use Terminal 5 are bussing passengers to Terminal 5 and they set up a temporary immigration checkpoint there, but there is very little concrete information available. You may have enough time. It's hard to tell. At least there are a lot of flights from Rome to Palermo. On your return there is a bus from T1 to T5 outside security.

I am arriving at terminal 3 from Toronto canada and leaving from terminal 3 to Beirut Lebanon. Do I need a shuttle to connect to my next flight?

No, you should not need a shuttle, but be aware that most of Terminal 3 is currently closed. So you may not arrive or depart where you think you are if you are travelling soon.

  • 2hr enough for flight change?

Hi I am flying to FCO from IST and I will be at FCO at 10am (October 5th). Then I have a seperate flight to US at 11.55am (booked seperately). Do you think this is enough time to take my luggage pass the passaport control (non-EU citizen) and check-in my luggage and and security again?

That will be difficult as you will have to take the shuttle bus to Terminal 5 to check in for your flight to the US (unless your flight to the US is on Alitalia).

I arrive in T3 and have stop over for 2hrs 45 min then will take a flight from T1. Do I need to have a transit visa or I will not go through the immigration counter?

I believe you need an Airport Transit Visa.

    Thank you

  • Transfer from T3 to T1 in December

We are flying into Rome in December and have a 55 min layover to catch our flight to Madrid. Is this doable?

That will be quite difficult. It's possible, but geez, really difficult.

I thought so. Both flights are Alitalia though, if that changes anything?

Just means it will be easier getting rebooked on the next flight to Madrid when you miss your connection.
