  • LHR on BA to FCO arr16:20 connection for in-Italy flight?
    Sep 1, 2015
Hi, at the end of February2016 I'm flying into FCO T3 at 16:20 on BritAir (US citizen) and wonder if it will be OK to make a 18:50 flight on Ryan Air to Palermo #4906. Checked bags. Does Ryanair move their schedule around much? And, is Palermo still up and running at 20:00hr on a Friday night? Otherwise, I want to stay near the FCO airport and make a 8:30 flight on Ryan Saturday morning - can I get to the airport early enough? and what hotel, Hilton is $200 for a night!

No, you will not have to claim your baggage, just go through passport control.

Hi, I am travelling from Belgrade to Madrid and I have connecting flight in Rome Fiumicino. I will arrive at FCO at terminal 3 and have to go to terminal 1 to catch a flight to Madrid with only 50 minutes of time. Is it possible to do that in 50 minutes?do i need to pass the control and go out to change terminal or just need to follow Connecting flights signs, since it is a different terminal? thanks in advance!

Assuming both flights are on Alitalia, there is a passage from T3 arrivals to T1 departures, but you will have to go through Schengen passport control and security on your way. This is a fairly difficult connection.

  • Can I make this connection
    Aug 30, 2015
I am flying next march to from Toronto to FCO and then to Turin. The connection is only 1 hour and 35 mins. All flying will be done with Alitalia. I've been to FCO before but not for a connection. Is this possible?

It's possible if the first flight is on-time. Being all on alitalia should help.

  • meeting people traveling on different airline

we are arriving from USA on American and elderly relatives are arriving an hour later on alitalia. will we be arriving in the same terminal? is there only one baggage claim area for both airlines? can we meet them there or at customs? they will need our assistance

No, you will likely not arrive in the same terminal, you won't be able to meet them at customs. They need to request wheelchair service from Alitalia and you should meet them at the Meeting Point or the train station.

  • Ryan Air or Alitalia?
    Aug 27, 2015
If I book my flight with Ryan Air it gives me 10 more min for transfer. What does make more sense to fly Alitalia or Ryan Air? I'm flying in the middle of October. I'm making transfer to BA to fly to US through London. My connection is around 2 hours.

It wouldn't make much difference. RyanAir is on-time a bit more often, so maybe I'd choose them.

  • Do I Have to An Earlier Flight?
    Aug 26, 2015
The Iberia flight arrives at FCO from Turin.

Is this two separate tickets or one ticket? Also Iberia doesn't fly from Turin to Rome. Do you mean Alitalia?

Yes, it's two separate tickets. The Iberia Air is operated by Vueling Airlines which arrives at terminal 3. Thanks again

It's possible if everything goes perfectly on your first flight.

  • Do I Have To Get Earlier Flight?

I booked a flight with Iberia Air that arrives at 810pm at FCO and connect to Etihad for Abu Dhabi at 950pm is that enough time? Thank you.

  • LIN to FCO and FCO to MIA
    Aug 26, 2015
hi, i am travelling from milan linate to miami (sept 21) connecting through rome. we arrive at terminal 1 and have 2hrs 10min to depart from terminal 3. is that enough time ? thank you for your answer

i forgot to mention that we have checked baggage

That should be enough time. You will just have to go through Schengen exit passport control in Rome. You won't have to do anything with your baggage.

  • Connection at FCO

Hello, We will be arriving with Alitalia from Toronto at 1PM. I am considering booking a 2:40PM Pegasus flight to Istanbul. Assuming the Alitalia flight arrives on time and we don't check in our bags, is the timing possible? I understand risk is involved. Also: if we don't check in our bags and have already checked in our Pegasus flight online, do we have to go through customs? I think both Alitalia int'l and Pegasus are in terminal 3. Thanks!

Assuming Alitalia will be on-time is a bad idea. If you do not have checked baggage and you are able to get your Pegasus boarding pass either online or airside, you will not have to go through passport control. However, note that Terminal 3 is still mostly closed. If you are traveling soon everything will still probably be messed up, so you may end up having to go through passport control to get where you need to go.

We would be leaving Oct 5, so I hope the terminal will be OK by then? How long is it supposed to take? I have an option of flying Turkish for $40 more that leaves at 3:20, giving me 2 hours and 20 mins total time -- does this make a big difference?

That might be enough to make a difference, also Turkish is a much nicer airline than Pegasus.

We are flying from Toronto to Rome with Transat and from there we have an Alitalia flight to Iasi, Romania (tickets are separate). After one week we booked a flight from Iasi to Rome via Bologna (couldn't find direct flight that day) - when we arrive from Toronto, do we have to pick up the baggage and then check them in again for Iasi, going through customs (as we have separate ticket on different airline)? - when we return from Iasi to Rome, do we pick up the baggage in Bologna and go through customs to get them to the Rome flight ( as basically we transfer from an international flight to domestic, even if the ticket is Iasi- Rome? - on what terminal is Transat arriving - from what terminal is the flight departing from Rome to Iasi - on what terminal do we land from Bologna? I would really appreciate your help. Thank you.

You will have to pick up your baggage in Rome both ways to transfer it between airlines. In Bologna on your return you will go through Schengen passport control there but not claim your baggage. You will arrive from Bologna in Terminal 1. Air Transat is temporarily using Terminal 5. Your flight to Lasi could depart from Terminal 1 or 3.

Arriving in Rome at 11:40 in the morning, next flight to Romania is at 4:55 in the afternoon. Do you think we'll make it on time, with all the check out and in? Do we have to go through immigration/ customs, as both flights are international? On what terminal is the depart to Romania? Thank you.

Yes, that should be enough time. You will depart from Terminal 3. You will have to go through passport control in order to transfer your bags from Air Transat to Alitalia.

    Thanks a lot.

  • United to Alitalia Connection
    Aug 21, 2015
I am arriving FCO on UA @ 07:45 Terminal 3, then have an Alitalia flight @ 09:50 Terminal 1 FCO to SUF. Suggestions on best way to ensure we make connection? I know we have to get our luggage go through customs and recheck in at Alitalia , i am worried it may be too tight...Any guidance & suggestions would be appreciated!

It's possible if you arrive on-time and everything goes smoothly at passport control and your baggage comes out promptly. Other than that, just hurry.

  • Is 2 hrs enough time to connect?
    Aug 20, 2015
We are flying into Rome from US via London on BA arrive 4:10 pm. Then flying Ryan Air from Rome to Catania. There is a 6:15 flight. Is two hours enough to make the connection? We will have to get our bags since it will be on a different reservation.

It's possible, but there's some risk involved.

  • 1 hour 40 min transfer
    Aug 26, 2015
I'm in the process of booking a flight from Catania to Rome on Alitalia and transfer in Rome to British airways to fly to US with connection in London. I guess I'll need to pick up my luggage and recheck it on BA. BA flights and Alitalia flights were not made on the same reservation. Is an hour and 40 min enough for this transfer?

    That should be enough time.

Thank you for answering my question. Do you think we'll need to go through passport control? And as far as I understand Alitalia is in terminal 1 and BA is in terminal 3, are they far apart? How long does it take to go from one to another? Thanks again.

You will go through security and Schengen exit passport control on your way to your British airways flight. Terminals 1 and 3 are walking distance from each other.

One more question. I can book my flight on Ryan Air that arrives 10 min earlier and gives me more time for transfer. Does it make sense or Alitalia is better? I'm flying in the middle of October. Thanks for your help.

  • will I have enough time?
    Aug 19, 2015
I am arriving aug 29 from Bulgaria Terminal 3 and flying direct to NYC on American Airlines with only 1 hour and ten mins to connect. Nervous about making it as I have to check in at Terminal 5. I will only have carry on luggage. Where and how do you board your plane after checking in at Terminal 5? Thanks it's my first time going here. I know you catch the Navetta shuttle outside the front of Terminal 3.

That won't reasonably be enough time to make your connection.
