  • Tight connection Vueling to USAirways
    Apr 1, 2015
    1
We will arrive at Terminal 3 on Vueling from Catania at 9:55am and then need to leave from Terminal 5 on a USAirways flight at 11:20. We can carry our bags onto the USAirways flight but will have to check them on Vueling and then retrieve them. Will we have enough time?

That will be very difficult. The shuttle to Terminal 5 leaves closer to Terminal 1 and the US Airways check in counter will close at 10:20, just 25 minutes after you are scheduled to arrive. I suggest finding an earlier flight to Rome or flying in the day before.

  • MAD --> FCO --> MXP

I'm thinking of purchasing a ticket from MAD to MXP via FCO, all operated by Alitalia. I have 65 minutes to make my connection in FCO. Is this enough time? I'm a little worried because this is the last flight from FCO to MXP for the day, and I have a flight booked on another airline/ticket the following morning out of MXP that I can't miss.

Also, I don't expect to check bags, BUT if Alitalia forces me to check my luggage, will my luggage make it to my connecting flight (to MXP)?

That should be enough time if your first flight is on-time, but as you may know, Alitalia isn't exactly known for being punctual. Both flights will be in Terminal 1 and it should be a very simple connection.

  • Connecting flight FCO -

I arrive at FCO (Terminal 3) on 2 June at 12:10 in the afternoon and need to catch the connecting flight to London at 13:30. This only gives me an hour and 20 minutes to make my way through security and to the gate for boarding. I will have no luggage though and I'm hoping this will be enough time to make it there - can anyone advise if this will be enough time? Don't want to miss my flight!

That should be enough time if both flights are on Alitalia. However, it's hard to answer your question without knowing what airlines you are flying.

  • BUD to FCO to DBV

From Budapest we are flying Wizz Air getting to FCO terminal 2 at 12:05pm. We are NOT checking luggage, we're only bringing carry-on luggage. From there we need to get to terminal 3 for our 1:50pm flight to Dubrovnik. When getting from from T2 to T3 will we need to go through security or customs or anything again? Is this enough time to get to our next flight?

Since Hungary is in the Schengen Area you will not have to go through customs. You will go through schengen exit passport control when you enter the departure area for your Dubrovnik flight. You will also likely have to go through security. You should have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

We arrive from Milan (LIN) at 14:10 in FCO terminal 1 and have to catch a flight from FCO terminal 3 at 15:20 giving us 1hr 10mins to do it. Both of us have EU passports and all flights are Alitalia. Is this enough time? Cheers

Yes, that should be plenty of time. Just follow signs to your departure gate.

  • Alitalia transfers in FCO

ZAP, you seem like a person with all the info! I am ticketed on AZ from ORD-FCO-IST, does FCO have a self contained international terminal, or will I have to clear Schengen customs, transfer security and then make my way to the IST gate? Also, is there a shuttle/tram on the secure side between T1 and T3? I have 2hr 55min for the transfer so ideally I should be fine time wise. Thanks for all of you help!

There are no trams between T3 and T1. You may have to pass through schengen passport control and will definitely have to go through security. However, you are correct you have enough time. FCO is a very confusing airport on paper or on a computer screen but most people report that when they actually get there, it isn't that confusing.

There's also lots of conflicting information. Some parts of the Rome Airport website say that both non-schengen and schengen short haul Alitalia flights are in T1, while another site says that all non-schengen flights are in T3. And of course, flight info on Alitalia's website doesn't include gate information.

I am arriving at FCO with an Alitalia flight at terminal 1 and i have to catch a flight with Delta airlines to JFK at terminal 3 gate 13. I have booked it as one ticket. Is it an hour enough?

That should be barely enough time to get through Schengen Exit passport control and security. You will also have to check with the Delta gate agent when you arrive at your gate since.

Hi, We have a flight from LAX to FCO that gets there at 1:10 and a connecting flight to Madrid that leaves at 2:20. These are both on Alitalia. It looks like the first flight arrives in Terminal 3 and the connecting one leaves from Terminal 1.

That should barely be enough time. Follow the signs to your departure gate. You will go through Schengen passport control on your route.

I land at FCO on Alitalia from New York (JFK) at 6:45am and have a Ryanair flight at 8:30am to Catania--can I make that connection? (no bags to check)

Without checked bags, yes, I think you can make it. Check in online for your Ryanair flight before you leave NY.

Hello - we (US Citizens) are looking at a flight from Mykonos (JMK) arriving to FCO at 10:00am on Aegean Airlines. Need to then get on Delta flight from FCO to Atlanta, USA (ATL) departing 12:15pm. Will that be enough time to collect bags and make the change in FCO? I assume we will not have to go through customs in FCO since Italy and Greece are in the Schengen Area? Thanks in advance!

Yes, but you will have to hurry to the shuttle bus to T5 to check in with Delta.

Hello, we are flying from Tel Aviv to Toronto with AlItalia and there is 1h55m connection at FCO. Is that enough time to change flight? Thank you

Yes, that should be enough time. Since you are not entering the Schengen Area you should just have to walk between gates within Terminal 3.

Hello, We are travelling from Madrid to Rome on Iberia at 11:10 and have a flight to Palermo on Vueling at 12:50, is this enough time to make the connection? Do we need to go through customs in Rome? Thanks.

Without checked baggage that should be enough time. With checked baggage it will be difficult as you will have to transfer it yourself. No, you do not go through customs as Spain and Italy are both within the Schengen Area.
