  • 3 Hour Connection Time
    Jan 24, 2017
Arriving from US @ 9:45 departing to Cairo on a separate ticket around 2pm. 5 people with checked bags. Does it matter if the departing airline is Egyptair or Royal Jordanian? Do they both depart from T3? Do we need to exit and re-check our bags at the Airline's counter or is there a luggage transfer within T3?

  • Non-connecting flights
    Jan 19, 2017
Hi, I am flying to Rome from Philadelphia on AA. I have a non-connecting flight on Alitalia to Venice 3 hours after landing in Rome. Will that be enough time to get our luggage, go through customs, passport control & check in again ? What Terminals do I need to go to. Thanks for any information.

Yes, that should be enough time. You will arrive in Terminal 3 and depart from Terminal 1.

  • Catania to JFK
    Jan 18, 2017
Trying to figure out terminals, etc. My son will be travelling from Catania to Rome (Alitalia) connecting to JFK with KLM airlines. Is 2 hours enough time? It looks like they may both be on Terminal 1, but Alitalia also flies into terminal 3, so I didn't know if he had to change terminals. Please advise. (His trip over has a 5 hour layover in FCO, so that's not a problem.) Al.so, how early does he need to get to Catania airport before his flight. I'm not familiar with international travel. Thank you!

If he is flying nonstop to JFK, that flight will also be on Alitalia. He will arrive in Terminal 1, go through Schengen Exit Passport control and walk to his departure gate in Terminal 3. He should try to get to the Catania airport 2 hours before his flight.

Thanks. Will his layover in FCO of 2 hours give him enough time to go through Schengen Exit Passport and walk to Terminal 3?

    Yes, it should

Thank you for your quick response! You were very helpful!

transferring from Etihad 83 from Abu Dhabi arrives 1:10pm to make a connection to Alitalia 1395 to Genova leaves 2:20pm. Is there enough time to make the connection please?

If both flights are on the same reservation that should be just enough time.

Hi, we have AA flight into FCO from Dallas that lands at 7:10 am. We want to take an Alitalia (will not be on same ticket) leaving FCO for Lamezia Terme(SUF) at 9:25 am. We will have checked bags. Is this enough time? Thanks

I personally wouldn't book that. I would want at least 3 hours.

  • ATH to NYC
    Jan 15, 2017
Hi. Flying ATH to JFK with 1:10 layover in FCO. One ticket reservation with Alitalia. Is layover time sufficient? Thank you

Yes, that is enough time. You just have to go through Schengen Exit passport control and then to your departure gate.

  • Tunis - Rome - Malta
    Jan 14, 2017
Flight from Tunis to Malta has a 1hr 50min connection in Rome. Tunis Air to Alitalia. What is the likelihood of making the connection?

If both flights are on the same reservation you have a chance. If no, then it will be almost impossible.

  • Transfer Time

  • Connection time okay, FCO to Dubrovnik?
    Jan 14, 2017
Arriving FCO from ATL on Delta, terminal 5, 7:55; Vueling flight to Dubrovnik at 10:00 from terminal 3. Carry-on baggage only. Can I make this connection?

You do not arrive in Terminal 5. No flights arrive in Terminal 5. You arrive in Terminal 3. With carry-ons this should be easy as all you have to do is go to your departure gate and/or the Vueling transfer desk.

  • Venice_Rome_Brazil - What is a safe international layover time in FCO?
    Jan 14, 2017
I will be flying with my family from Venice to Rome (with check in baggage) and then have a 1hour 35min layover in Rome before flying on to our final destination in Brazil. Both flights are with Alitalia. Is 1hour 35min layover sufficient time to make our connecting flight? Thank you!

Yes, that is enough time if everything goes smoothly.

4 of us arrive from Australia @ 7:55 with Singapore Airlines, and would like to catch the 9:45 Alitalia flight to Naples. Do we have sufficient time to achieve this connection?

I don't think so - I would book a later flight to Naples.

From cairo to Moscow on alitalia. I land in rome terminal 3 and departure from terminal 1. Will i manage in an hour and 20 minutes to reach terminal 1 for my next flight? Also as it's a transit I don't need a shenghen visa am i right?

Yes, that should be just enough time. Whether or not you need a visa depends on your citizenship.

Well I'm Egyptian and rome is only a transit i have. So does this require a visa?

Egyptians can do a sterile transfer within the Schengen Area without a transit visa.

  • JFK to Malta

Hi there. US citizen flying from JFK to FCO. Is 1.5 hours enough time to transfer from a British Airways flight to a Ryanair flight to Malta? We'll have to go through customs, get our luggage then check in to the Ryanair flight. If not, how much time do you think we'll need? Thank you.

No, I do not think that's enough time. I'd want 3 hours.
