  • T2 to T5

After 2 weeks in Italy, I will be flying from Catania, Sicily back to Rome arriving at T2 at 8:25 am, I have carry-on luggage, and need to go to Terminal 5 for my flight at 10:40 am back to states. Do I have to go outside to Terminal 5 and go through all the check in, security and passport at Terminal 5 or is there a secured way to get from T2 to T5? If I do have to go outside to T5 is 2 hours and 15 minutes enough time?

Your departure gate will be in Terminal 3, so you MAY be able to check in at the transfer desk of your carrier in Terminal 3 rather than go to Terminal 5, but there's no guarantee. You do have enough time to go to T5 if you have to if the flight from Sicily is on-time.

  • T1 to T3 1h 25min connecting time

Hi I am flying from Alghero to Rome FCO T1 arriving 20.30pm with Alitalia and flying FCO T3 to London at 21.55pm with Norwegian with 1 checked in baggage. Is it possible? Thank you for your advice.

I think that will be really difficult getting your checked bag and then re-checking it with Norwegian in time.

Thank you for your advice.. I'd like to ask one more question.. if I buy an Alitalia ticket from Alghero to Rome arriving 20.30 pm and stopover and the day after from Rome to London at 9am, should I still have to get my checked bag and bring it to the next flight? -sorry a bit complicated. Appreciate your answer,

You would have to ask Alitalia to make sure, but I'm fairly sure you would have to claim your bag the evening you arrive and then re-check it the following morning.

Also, if Norwegian operates the flight to London, you will DEFINITELY have to re-check it. Norwegian doesn't interline bags with any other airlines.

Thank you. I really appreciated your comment. I booked another ticket for the day after morning. Hopefully everything goes well.

  • Detroit to Malta - carry on only

Arriving from Detroit at 9:15AM on Delta. Flight to Malta at 10:20AM on Alitalia. Carry on only. Is this enough time? What terminals? Thank you.

    These are separate tickets also

You will arrive in Terminal 3 and depart from Terminal 1. This is a very difficult connection, but not impossible if everything goes perfectly.

  • US Citizen from OLB to FCO on Meridiana, then FCO to CLT on AA

HI, I'm traveling from OLB (Sardinia) to FCO arriving at 0755, then FCO to CLT departing at 11:15. OLB to FCO is on Meridiana, then separate ticket on AA to CLT. I have just over 3 hours with checked bags. I understand I'll need to collect my bag from Meridiana flight then recheck with AA. Is 3 hrs 15 mins enough time? Thanks

Yes, that should be enough time if the flight from Olbia is on-time.

Thank you so much for the information.

Hi I'm flying from Athens to Rome (arriving at 1010 Am). On a separate itinerary i am flying Rome directly to Detroit at 1115 am. What do you think

That is not possible because for your Delta flight you will have to check in in Terminal 5.

Flying from Brindisi to FCO Terminal 1 with Alitalia, then Vueling from T3 to Spain. Is 1:45 enough time to transfer? Assume will need to collect luggage and check in with Vueling.

With checked bags that will be very difficult, but not impossible.

  • Time enough?
    Nov 13, 2016

March 2027 - arriving from Atlanta to FCO on Delta. 1.5 hours to connect (separate tickets) to VCE on AlItalia. Enough time?

That's just enough time if everything goes smoothly. It will be difficult if you have checked bags and can't get them tagged through to Venice.

  • Enough time to make connection with bags

Hi All i fly into Rome terminal 1 from Australia at 8:10am then fly to Holland terminal 3 at 10am with different carriers. I dont know if i should buy check in bags or not because i dont have time can anyone help thank you

You have your terminals reversed - you will arrive in 3 and depart from 1. You don't have enough time to claim and re-check bags.

  • FCO connection time to NAP

Hello, I will be flying from Tel-Aviv to Naples with a connection time of 1 hour at FCO, both flights with Alitalia (same reservation). Do I have to claim my luggage or go through security? Will I be able to make it on time? Thank you.

You will have to go through Schengen Entry Passport control and security but not anything with your baggage. You have just enough time.

Great, thank you for the quick answer.

  • American ORD to FCO connecting Alitalia FCO to PMO

Flying on two separate reservations. Time needed between flights to clear customs and reboard

With checked bags I'd want at least 2.5 hours.

Thanks, the potential reservations are 3+ hours so Ii should be OK. On the return we fly from Catania to Rome and then change to American back to ORD. Since we don't have to go thru customs but still have checked bags, is 2 hrs enough or do I need 3?

I would want 3 since you have to take a shuttle bus to Terminal 5 to re-check your bags with American and you will have to go through Schengen Exit Passport control and security on the way to your flight.

  • Malaga to Split connecting at FCO

Looking to book a flight from Malaga to Split with Alitalia. Outbound it is a 2 hour connection at FCO, it is on the same reservation but the flight is operated by Croatia Air - will my bags be checked through so I can just go to the gate & is it enough time? Inbound I have 16hrs will my luggage still be checked through? I want to book into a hotel for the night & just take my hand luggage with me.

You will have to go through Schengen Exit passport control on your way to Split. On the return if the layover is overnight you will probably have to claim your bags in Rome and re-check them the next morning.

I will take two flights on a single ticket with Alitalia, first from London (Heathrow) to Rome then to Brazil, with a wait of 1h30min in Rome. Will that be enough time to pass through customs?

Since you are not entering the Schengen Area you won't have to go through passport control or customs and can just go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

We are flying in from Athens on Aegean landing at 16:40 and have a flight to Venice on Alitalia at 17:45. We will have checked bags. Do we have to leave security or is this possible to make it in this amount of time?

Are your flights on one reservation or two separate reservations? With checked bags and two separate reservations this is not enough time.

Arriving on Alitalia from Catania at 8:45 AM connecting to a flight on Alitalia to JFK at 10:35 AM. Same ticket checking baggage in CTA. The flight is sold by Delta, operated by Alitalia. I assume arriving T1 departing T3. Do I go through security at FCO, will I make the connection?

You will go through Schengen Exit Passport control in Rome. You have enough time.
