  • Flying through to Palermo
    Jul 6, 2016
We are arriving Rome on British Airways at 4:40 (flying from the US and connecting through LHR) and connecting to to Palermo on Al Italia at 7:30 at FCO. Will we need to go through customs? Is this enough time to make our flight to PMO?

Yes, when you arrive in Rome you will go through Immigration, claim your bags, and go through Customs. You will then have to go to Terminal 1, re-check your bags with Alitalia and go through security. You have just enough time.

  • MYK--> Rome --> Split

Flight arrives in Rome from Mykonos at 16:15 on blue express. I will then have 2 hours 25 mins to go through security, passport control, collect bags, check in and get to Vueling flight leaving at 19:55. I am on an AUstralian passport. Is this enough time ? or is it too tight?

There's no passport control after arriving from Mykonos since Greece and Italy are both in the Schengen Area. You will just go through Schengen exit passport control before your flight to Split. You should have enough time.

I have a flight from Budapest to Rome (Delta ticket, operated by Alitalia) then Delta flight from Rome to Atlanta. Same ticket. Bag should be able to be checked through in Budapest to Atlanta? Upon arrival in Rome will I need to go to Terminal 5 or only Shengen exit passport control and directly to the gate? Thanks!

You don't have to go to Terminal 5.

  • Arriving from Catania, flying to Bangkok
    Jul 3, 2016
Hello, I'll be flying into FCO from Catania on One of the budget airlines and then catching an Air Egypt flight to Bangkok. How much time do I need to make that switch? No checked baggage, only carry on. Thanks

I'd still want close to 3 hours.

  • 2:30 connectiontime
    Jul 2, 2016
Hello, am boarding the Alitalia airlines from Jordan, to be conneted to Alitalia that is headed to Chicago, is 2:30 hours enough time ? Any recommendations?

That should be enough time. You just have to go through security and to your departure gate.

I am flying into Rome on American with checked bags, then going on to Malta on a different carrier (Imhave not yet purchased the connecting ticket). The AA flight arrives at 9:40 a.m. How much time should I allow to get through passport control, get my bags, check in and go through security/passport to the gate. MAlso, is their one carrier for the Malta flight that would make this easier?

I would allow 3 hours. Flying Air Malta or Vueling will be easier than Alitalia or RyanAir because Air Malta and Vueling use the same terminal that you will arrive in.

I will arriving in Rome From Palermo Italy, and transferring to a Delta flight to Atlanta. Do I have to go through Terminal 5 or is there another way? Also If i checked a bag on Alitalia will they transfer it to the Delta flight Or will I have to claim it and recheck it? I have 2hr connection time, is this enough?

Are both tickets on the same reservation or are they on two separate reservations?

  • Belgrade to London
    Jul 1, 2016
I arrive into FCO from Belgrade at 19:35. I have to self-transfer, so go through passport control, then go back through passport control, to get my next flight to London Heathrow at 21:50. Hand luggage only, UK passport. 2hrs 15. Do you think I'll make it? Thanks!

Yes, with hand luggage that should be enough time. Since you have no checked luggage and since both flights will be in Terminal 3 you can check in online or go to the transfer desk for your boarding pass to London without having to go through passport control.

    Thank you!

I'm going to have a flight from Moscow to Rome and then in 1 hour 50 min from Rome to Los Angeles(both Alitalia). Will I have to get my baggage in Rome myself or it will be delivered to the final destination?

  • Transit between terminal 1 and terminal 2
    Jul 1, 2016
If I land at 5:20 pm, will I have enough time to get my checked bag and then make it to Terminal 2 for a 9:05 pm flight to Bari? I'm flying in from Germany so I think I land in Terminal 1.

Yes, that should be plenty of time.

  • T1 or T3 transfer to T5
    Jun 30, 2016
I'm thinking about booking a flight from Catania to FCO on Alitalia airlines arriving at 7:35am. I have a direct flight on United departing for EWR at 9:55am. Do you think this will be enough time - I have checked baggage and a wheelchair.

You will arrive in Terminal 1. With a wheelchair I don't think that would be possible. It would be barely possible for a person who was able to run.

  • Connecting flights

  • Connection between terminals and transit visa
    Jun 29, 2016
My in laws are traveling from Hyderbad, India to Minneapolis, USA. They both are Indian citizens . They have connection in FCO , looks like they are arriving to termial3 from Abu Dhabi , lay over time is 5 hours and departing to minneapolis from Terminal 5(alitalia airlines). Also while going back to Hyderabd they are arriving to Terminal 3 and departing from same terminal to Abu Dhabi , lay over time at FCO is 11 hrs(alitalia airlines). do they need any air transit VISA, to transfer between terminals or for waiting during lay over time. response would be a great help to us. thanks

If you have a valid US Visa then you don't need a schengen transit visa.

    Thank you for the reply

  • T1 to T3 -- are we screwed?
    Jun 29, 2016
We're coming into FCO on Air France (T1) from the United States at 11:50 a.m. on 7/29. On a separate ticket, we're departing to Croatia on Vueling (T3) at 1:20 p.m. We'll have carry-on luggage only. Are we in for a disaster? And if so, is there any way to prevent it in advance? Any and all help would be much appreciated!!

No flights from the US arrive in T1. They arrive in T3. You should have enough time.

  • connection time
    Jun 29, 2016
I've booked separate tickets - ATH to FCO to ATL. Aegean air arriving at 10am and DL departing at 12:15pm. I will have a checked bag. I had no idea FCO was such a mess. Am I in trouble?

2hr 15min should be enough time. There a shuttle at Terminal 3 to get to terminal 5.

  • FCO Construction
    Jun 28, 2016
I read recently on the Delta website that there is construction at FCO which requires you to shuttle from Terminal 1 to 3 and vice versa if you are coming in from an international to Schengen destination or Schengen to international destination. Does anyone know whether it is still going on and whether it adds a lot of confusion to connecting? I am flying from DTW -> FCO -> PMO on Delta/Alitalia (one reservation) later this month. Link to airport advisory is below. http://www.delta.com/content/www/en_US/traveling-with-us/airports-and-aircraft/airports/airport-advisory-information.html

I don't know, this is the first I've heard of it. The FCO website is notoriously bad so that's why so many people have to ask questions here. If it's true it will make all connections at FCO much more difficult.
