  • Terminal transfer

I will be coming into Terminal ! and going out Terminal 5. How do I get there and is 2 hours enough time?

What airline is your outbound flight on? If you indeed have to go to Terminal 5, there is a shuttle bus. 2 hours is really cutting it close, especially if you have to check baggage in T5.

I will be coming in on Alitalia to T.1 and going out on Delta to US. My baggage will have been checked all the way through. Thanks for replying.

  • ATH to FCO to YYZ

Arriving from ATH (assuming T1) with Canadian Passport and have 90 minutes before FCO to YYZ flight (assuming T3). Will I need to clear passport control with Canadian PP, or coming from Schengen port will not require this. If required, is it a long ordeal? And most importantly, is 90 minutes enough? Bags should be going right through to YYZ.

Since Athens and Rome are both in Schengen there won't be any passport check, just security at your gate. You should have enough time.

  • Poland to U.S. roundtrip via FCO

I am planning to travel from KRK, Poland to BOS, U.S. on Apr. 15th. According to flight summary, my flight from Poland lands at FCO at 2:40pm (T1). My flight to BOS is 3.45PM (T3). On my way back, May 5th, my flight from JFK lands at FCO on May 6th 6.25am (T3) and my departure to Poland is 9.30am (T1). All flights are Alitalia. I have a few questions and your help will be greatly appreciated. 1) Do I have enough time to change the planes on my way to U.S.? My reservation summary shows that flight to BOS departs from T3, but now I see, that U.S. flights depart from T5? Please clarify it, if possible and what are my option for transportation (between T1 and T3 or T5?) - but the most important - is it enough time to switch the planes? My luggage will be checked in directly to U.S. (one reservation) and I am Schengen/EU. citizen. 2)When flying to U.S., do you go through U.S. CPB immigration inspection/screening at FCO before boarding your plane (which may take extra time) or it will be reserved for U.S. airport? I know that some European airports have US Immigration control and then they let you go once you land in U.S. 3) According to reservation summary, on my way back from U.S. I land at T3 and my departure to Poland is from T1. How much time does it take for get between these two considering that I would not prefer to run (I know you can walk between these two)? Should I expect passport control on the way, since I will be arriving from non EU country? Your help and descriptive responses will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Your connection time at FCO to Boston is sufficient. However, while you land at T1 your departure is not T3, but T5, which is the terminal for all U.S.-bound flights. I suggest you open www.ifly.com/fco, then click on 'Terminal Map' under 'QUICK LINKS', and scroll down to the detailed text.

Please disregard what sufeb said. He is completely wrong. Long-haul Alitalia flights, even ones to the US, leave from Terminal 3. Both ways your flight from Boston will operated to/from T3 and flight to/from Krakow will use T1. On your way to the US you will go through US Immigration in Boston. Yes, there will be passport control both in FCO both ways (for EU immigration). You can make either connection in about 90 minutes. Luckily, you don't have to worry about T5.

I got only 65 mins on my way to U.S. Considering the circumstances and assuming my flight from KRK will arrive on time, will that be enough time for a connection (T1 to T3)? Thank you for a prompt response! :)

    That will be pretty difficult.

  • Coming from USA into T5, out in 1 hour from T3

Flying business class on United, into FCO, scheduled to land 8:30am. Will have my luggage with me. I need to fly to Sofia, Bulgarai (not on same itin) and there is a 9:25a Bulgaria Air departure and a 9:30am Alitalia departure. Are either of these reasonable to expect to land, clear immigration, transit to T1 or T3, check in and fly to Sofia? Appreciate anyone's time and opinion. Thanks!

FlightAware said this UA flight from Washington arrived T5 but what I'm reading is that T5 is for US-bound DEPARTURES ONLY. So, this flight must, in fact, ARRIVE at T3, right? If this is the case, then I have to simply clear immigration and make my way to T3 gate for Bulgaria Air or T1 gate for Alitalia. Seems doable?? Yes? No?

Yes, T5 is an arrivals only terminal. All Non-Schengen flights, including those from the USA, arrive in T3. However, to make either connection in an hour or less will still be difficult, especially if you have to transfer bags yourself due to having two separate itineraries. Looking at the flight schedules, it looks like you'll either have to make a connection (maybe in Istanbul) or spend the night in Rome before you go to Sofia.

Sorry, I meant to say T5 is a departures only terminal

  • 1 hour and 5 minutes layover (connection flight)

Can someone help me with this inquiry: i will be travelling from Abu Dhabi, UAE to Madrid , Spain through Alitalia. My flight will arrive Terminal 3 Rome Airport (FCO) and i only have one hour and 5 minutes to go to T1 and catch my second flight to Madrid (Alitalia too). As a British citizen do i need to go through customs or security since I'm just switching flights? And is that time is enough to catch my second flight? Thanks,

You are considered a 'non-Schengen' (foreign) arrival, therefore, you will need to go through immigration (passport control) and thereafter proceed to your connecting terminal & gate (provided that you bought both airline flights on one ticket, your bags are being transferred). Terminals 1, 2 & 3 are connected at ground levels to their rspective gate areas. T1 houses boarding area B with gates B1-30 - B14-23 on ground level; B27-30 at escalator; B1-13 on level 1. Your transfer time is tight but doable.

Thanks a lot for your quick response. However; and based on your experience do you think that one hour and 5 minutes transit will give the airport staff enough time to transfer my luggage to my next flight? I will be asking my airport here to check in my luggage all the way to my last destination. Cheers

  • Landing In Rome @ 4:30 Via Munich. Then catching Alitalia to Verona

Can someone help me w/ process after I land in Rome? Do I have to go through customs? Is 1hr20min enough time to clear customs, and recheck my bag? Im flying in Lufthansa and connecting to Alitalia I believe they're the same terminal?

If you're coming from Munich then you don't have to go through any immigration or customs since both Germany and Italy are in Schengen. However Lufthansa and Alitalia are not in the same terminal. You will arrive in the Schengen side of Terminal 3, then have to claim your bag and take it to Terminal 1 to check it with Alitalia if you did not purchase your tickets on one reservation. If you did purchase your tickets on one reservation and can get your bags checked through to Verona, then you just have to walk from T3 to T1, get your Alitalia boarding pass, and go through security.

Thank You for your response! No, I have to buy the tickets on 2 reservations unfortunately. Im hoping if I don't have to go through any customs in Rome I'll have enough time to re-check my bag then.

  • flying in from Mykonos to T3 connecting to France T1 and have 90 mins

I am flying into FCO T3 from Mykonos and need to catch another flight from T1 to Bordeaux. I have a 90 min change over time. Do I need to clear security or customs and will 90 mins be enough assuming the flights are on time?

You will not have to go through any immigration or customs since Greece, Italy, and France are all within Schengen. However, I'm pretty sure you will have to go through security once you get to T1. You should have enough time if your first flight is on-time but you will have to hurry.

Went to get a bottle of wine uncorked... Girl threw corkscrew at me... Extremely rude. Luckily young man with better manners stepped in and opened the wine for us. I wish I could give names. The wine was purchased at ciao.

Hey , Im flaying from London to Tirana i will change my fly in roma T3 to T1 i have 1:30 . Is that enough time ?

Yes, that should be enough time. It's an easy walk.`

Also, Alitalia flights from Rome to Tirana operate from Terminal 3 since Albania is outside schengen.

Are there two separate custom area at this airport?

    What airport?

Ah, now I see that you are referring to FCO. No, all immigration and customs are done in Terminal 3.

We fly from venice to Rome on AZ 1466, arriving in terminal 1 and then connect to AZ610 flying to New York from terminal 3. we have 1hr and 15 min connection. Will we have to do any customs/immigration and will be able to check our bags al the way through to NY? If we don't have to get bags etc, is 1 hr and 15 min enough time to transfer?

No, you will not have to go through immigration in Rome, just security. Yes, your bags should be checked all the way though to New York in Venice.

Then will 1hr and 15 min be enough time to transfer?

Yes, if your first flight is on-time you should be OK

I am arriving from Toronto, Canada on Alitalia flight scheduled for arrival time of 12:35 pm and need to connect to Alitalia flight to Lamezia Terme departing 3:15pm. Which terminal does the Alitalia flight to Lamezia depart and will I have enough time to catch my flight.

You will arrive in Terminal 3 and depart from Terminal 1. You should have enough time. You can walk between the two terminals.

  • Gates terminal 1 vs terminal 2

Arrive from Boston and get connecting flight to Florence on Aliitalia. Flight to Florence is listed to depart from terminal 1 at gate c06.Can this be right, I thought all flights from terminal 1 were B gates.

Boston does not have a Terminal B - Alitalia uses Terminal E (Gates E2a through E8b are straight ahead, while gates E1a through E1e are at the lower right side). I suggest you open www.ifly.com/bos then click on 'Terminal Map' under 'QUICK LINKS', and scroll down to the detailed text.

Gate C06 is in Terminal 2 at Boarding Area C (Terminal 2 serves Schengen & non-Schengen domestic flights).

we have an hour between flights is this enough time to get luggage and make the flights?

You will not arrive in Terminal 5. There are no arrivals in Terminal 5. You will arrive in Terminal 3. So all you will have to do after you clear customs is to go to the departures area and check-in with Aegean. However, only an hour is a very tight window to have to do that and unless your flight gets in quite early I don't think you will have enough time.
