Hi All i fly into Rome terminal 1 from Australia at 8:10am then fly to Holland terminal 3 at 10am with different carriers. I dont know if i should buy check in bags or not because i dont have time can anyone help thank you

You have your terminals reversed - you will arrive in 3 and depart from 1. You don't have enough time to claim and re-check bags.

  • FCO connection time to NAP

Hello, I will be flying from Tel-Aviv to Naples with a connection time of 1 hour at FCO, both flights with Alitalia (same reservation). Do I have to claim my luggage or go through security? Will I be able to make it on time? Thank you.

You will have to go through Schengen Entry Passport control and security but not anything with your baggage. You have just enough time.

Great, thank you for the quick answer.

  • American ORD to FCO connecting Alitalia FCO to PMO

Flying on two separate reservations. Time needed between flights to clear customs and reboard

With checked bags I'd want at least 2.5 hours.

Thanks, the potential reservations are 3+ hours so Ii should be OK. On the return we fly from Catania to Rome and then change to American back to ORD. Since we don't have to go thru customs but still have checked bags, is 2 hrs enough or do I need 3?

I would want 3 since you have to take a shuttle bus to Terminal 5 to re-check your bags with American and you will have to go through Schengen Exit Passport control and security on the way to your flight.

  • Malaga to Split connecting at FCO

Looking to book a flight from Malaga to Split with Alitalia. Outbound it is a 2 hour connection at FCO, it is on the same reservation but the flight is operated by Croatia Air - will my bags be checked through so I can just go to the gate & is it enough time? Inbound I have 16hrs will my luggage still be checked through? I want to book into a hotel for the night & just take my hand luggage with me.

You will have to go through Schengen Exit passport control on your way to Split. On the return if the layover is overnight you will probably have to claim your bags in Rome and re-check them the next morning.

I will take two flights on a single ticket with Alitalia, first from London (Heathrow) to Rome then to Brazil, with a wait of 1h30min in Rome. Will that be enough time to pass through customs?

Since you are not entering the Schengen Area you won't have to go through passport control or customs and can just go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

We are flying in from Athens on Aegean landing at 16:40 and have a flight to Venice on Alitalia at 17:45. We will have checked bags. Do we have to leave security or is this possible to make it in this amount of time?

Are your flights on one reservation or two separate reservations? With checked bags and two separate reservations this is not enough time.

Arriving on Alitalia from Catania at 8:45 AM connecting to a flight on Alitalia to JFK at 10:35 AM. Same ticket checking baggage in CTA. The flight is sold by Delta, operated by Alitalia. I assume arriving T1 departing T3. Do I go through security at FCO, will I make the connection?

You will go through Schengen Exit Passport control in Rome. You have enough time.

What airlines are you flying? Are your flights on one reservation or two separate? Where are you flying into Rome from?

Hello i am flying from Tunis to Rome with Alitalia 863 arr at 1.20 pm terminal 3 then leave at 14.10 from terminal 1 for london with again alitalia.

That is a difficult connection, but not impossible if everything goes smoothly. There should be a later flight to Rome if you miss your connection.

I mean a later flight to London.

We will be flying into FCO from Malta on Alitalia, arriving at at Terminal 1 at 2:00PM. Want to connect to a British Airways flight going out of Terminal 3 at 3:15. We will have carry on baggage. Will we have enough time to make the connection. US Citizens.

That is barely enough time if you check in for your British Airways flight online before leaving Malta.

  • Making connection between Alitalia and American Airlines

I will be flying from Palermo to FCO with a layover of 1.5 hours. It looks like that flight lands in Terminal 1. I then have a flight with American Airlines that leaves from Terminal 5. The two tickets are connected. From what I understand I don't have to go to terminal 5 since the tickets are connected and instead can go to the actual gate (likely in terminal 3)... is this correct? Do I have enough time to make my flight? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

    Yes, you have it correct.

arriving Air France from US (JFK) at 10:45 am and connecting on Alitalia to Cairo at 11:55 am. Same reservation. Are they from the same terminal and do I have enough time?

Your first flight will also be Alitalia and yes, they will both be in Terminal 3. Yes, you have just enough time if your flight from JFK is on-time.

We are arriving at FCO from Doha on Qatar Airways at 12.45 and need to connect to a domestic flight with Alitalia for Catania Airport which leaves at 14.40. Will we have enough time to make the connection.

With checked bags on two separate reservations I don't think that is enough time.

Thanks for the warning ZAP. We have changed the reservation to a single ticket with no baggage collection required at FCO. The new reservation is on Etihad from Abu Dhabi arriving FCO at 06.55 and departing on Alitalia for Catania at 08.15. For the return journey we fly Alitalia from Catania arriving FCO at 20.05 and depart FCO on Etihad for Abu Dhabi at 22.00, again no bag collection required. Will the connection times at FCO work for us?

Sorry ZAP the arrival time at FCO from Catania is 20.15 not 20.05

    Yes, that should work.

I am flying from Atlanta to Rome and have a connecting flight in one hour to Athens Greece. Do I have enough time toget my connection?

If both flights are on the same reservation that is just enough time if everything goes perfectly.

Thank you for the response. The flights are on the same reservation so now I can hope all goes perfectly. Are the lines usually long like in Atlanta at FCO passport control?

It really depends how many other flights come in the same time as yours at FCO If you're traveling during the winter it shouldn't be too bad.

  • Transfer from BA to Emirates
    Oct 23, 2016

Hello. I will be flying from London to Rome with BA. Will I have to collect my bags in the airport and exit terminal to check in bags with Emirates? Or will BA / Emirates do the transfer for us so we can stay in the terminal and avoid going through immigration? Any advice would be appreciated. Cheers

If you have two separate reservations you will have to go through passport control, claim your bags, re-check them with Emirates, go through Schengen Exit passport control and security and to your departure gate.

Hi, Thanks for your response. We do have 2 seperate reservations. I will be travelling with my wife, who has Indonesian passport and child who has UK passport. My wife will not be allowed to exit as she does not have a schengen visa or visa for Italy. Can you suggest how we can deal with this? Would Emirates collect the bags for us if we check in at the transfer desk? Or would we be able to check in at transfer desk then I would exit to collect all our checked bags and check them in for all of us? Would I be allowed to check in my wife an childs bags without them there if I had their passports?

I really don't know. If your wife can't enter the Schengen Area, I really don't recommend this itinerary.
