  • Enought time with mess at rome airport ??
    Jun 23, 2015
Arrive from S'pore 7.50am and have Easyjet flight to Gatwick (separate ticket) at 10.55am departure is that enough time to collect luggage, drop bags at checkin, do passport/security and get to gate (closes 10.25am) with 1/2 the airport now closed as you say? How long are the current delays to get through security/passport after checkin? Easyjet usually leaves from T2 but some sites saying all flights to Gatwick (incl easyjet have to go through T3 security first true??? Thanks

You'll just have to play it by ear when you arrive. You should have enough time but who knows what will happen. I've even heard of some Easyjet flights from Rome being rescheduled to operate from Rome-Ciampino. Because of this mess Easyjet will be moving their Italian base from Rome to Venice later this year.

  • Florence - FCO - LAX
    Jun 28, 2015
Have an hour and 50 minute layover flying to LAX, both legs on Alitalia. Is that enough time? not sure if arrival and departure are at the same terminal. TIA

Rome airport is a mess right now due to a fire closing nearly half the airport. Alitalia is apparently using Terminal 1 for all flights.

I would say that is enough time

I get to FCO at 9:45 and have a flight to sardenia at 11. Is that enough time to collect my baggage and check in?

Probably not. Rome is a mess right now as nearly half the airport is closed due to a fire.

  • Connecting international to domestic
    Jun 21, 2015
We're looking to book 2 seperate flights...first which lands into fiumicino at 3:50pm from Mallorca and then we need to get to domestic for a 6pm flight to Sardinia. Is this enough time to collect bags, transfer and check in again?

It should be enough time. But FCO is a mess right now due to a fire in May, so all bets are off. I would avoid FCO if I could.

  • Nice - FCO - Florence
    Jun 17, 2015
Hi, I am arriving FCO T3 from Nice at 8.20am, my next flight is FCO (i think it's T1) to Florence at 10.25am. Is there enough time? I will be checking in baggage. I've already done online checking for Nice to FCO, but I need to checking physically for FCO to Florence with Alitilia. Will I make it in time? Is there a way to check in with Alitilia a day before the flight?

    * My flight from Nice to FCO is with easyjet and from FCO to Florence is with Alitlia

FCO is a mess right now. I believe Alitalia does have online check-in. You should have enough time, but there's no way to know for sure because FCO is a mess right now (they had a fairly large fire).

  • from jfk ny
    Jun 13, 2015
arrive on the 10 July to Fco 08;40 FROM NY to TERMINAL 1. Next fly at 09:30 from terminal 3. How I reach terminal 3 and do I have enough time to reach my flight?

Flights from New York would arrive in FCO Terminal 3. Where are you flying to out of Rome. Perhaps you have your terminals backwards? 50 minutes will be difficult regardless of where you are going.

  • HK - FCO and Connecting to Verona
    Jun 12, 2015
Hi I am scheduled to arrive FCO at 7.30am from Hong Kong and then have a connecting flight with Alitalia to Verona at 9.40am. Can you pls advise if this is enough time to make this connection and which terminals we will arrive in and transfer to for this connection?

You will arrive in Terminal 3 and depart from Terminal 1. That should be enough time.

  • NYC to Palermo
    Jun 12, 2015
Flying from NYC to Palermo via FCO, with a change from T1 to T3 and 1 hour 20 minute layover? Will I make it?

That should be enough time if tickets were purchased together and your baggage is transferred. If you purchased two separate tickets it might be a bit difficult to claim and re-check your bags in time.

thanks for that. will I go through customs in Rome or Palermo?

You will go through Passport Control in Rome.

Hi, I'm 17 and on the 29th of June I'll be travelling from Istanbul to JFK through Rome . I've bought my tickets through Delta but the IST-FCO and FCO-JFK flights are operated by Alitalia. I have a 1 hour and 55 minutes layover time will that be enough to get from Terminal 3 to Terminal 5(and how)? I've bought my tickets together and I'm a US Citizen. Thanks for answering as it will be my first international flight alone.

You do not have to go to Terminal 5. If your flight to JFK is operated by Alitalia it will operate from Terminal 3. All you have to do is follow signs to your departure gate and go through security.

  • Getting from T3 to T1
    Jun 11, 2015
Hi - I'm arriving from the US (US Airlines) in T3. I have a connecting flight booked on a different airline (Alitalia) in T1. I have a 2hrs time to get from T3 to T1. Enough time and is it difficult to get from 3 to 1? Thanks

No, it's not difficult to get from T3 to T1, but you will have to transfer your baggage yourself between terminals. It's possible, but it doesn't leave much time to spare if your flight from the US is delayed.

  • How to connect between terminal 5 and 3?
    Jun 10, 2015
Landing at 8:10 am in terminal 5 and have to meet a shuttle at 9:30 am sharp. How do I transfer between terminals and will this be enough time to get checked luggage and go through customs and make it to terminal 3?

You will not arrive in Terminal 5. No flights arrive in Terminal 5. It is a departure only terminal for check-in and security. You will arrive in the Terminal 3 satellite.

Arriving from detroit to FCO 8:55 am connecting to Aliatlia to Palermo Choices are 10:00am and 12:30 pm. Is the 10:00 am flight possible?

Buying two separate tickets I wouldn't do the 10 AM. On the same ticket, maybe, but it's still a little risky.

  • Connections and layover
    Jun 7, 2015
Hello, Situation 1: I'm flying from EZE to BEY with a 8h layover in FCO with Alitalia, I'm non EU citizen and holder of schengen tourist visa. I want to visit Rome during the 8h layover, what should I do after landing FCO? Siatuation 2 I'm flying from BEY to FCO and final destination MAD. I have a connecting time of 1 hour, I'm doing both flights with Alitalia. Is there a different passport control queue for transit passengers or is the same for all? how long does it take passport check point? Thanks-

Sit 1: It takes over an hour to get into the city from the airport. You won't have much time there, but there is a train from the airport to the city. Sit 2: You should barely have enough time. Passport control backups are not common in rome.

  • Connecting flight steps help
    Jun 6, 2015
I am flying in from Toronto,Canada and i have a 2 house layover in Rome and then a connecting flight to Tirana from Rome. Once i get to Rome from Toronto, what will be my steps to get to my gate to leave to Tirana? Where do i go?

Sorry i forgot to mention i will be using Alitalia for both flights

All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate and through security. Since you won't be entering the schengen area you shouldn't have to go through passport control.

  • Connecting from domestic Alitalia Terminal 1 to Emirates Terminal 3
    Jun 5, 2015
We'll be flying in from Alghero, arriving at 2020, not clear whether the Alitalia flight arrives Terminal 1 or 3, but Emirates definitely departs T3. I'm guessing it's probably OK IF Alitalia is on time, and if they interline the baggage, but if we have to collect the baggage and change terminals before a long haul check in, this could be tight. I'd rather not get the earlier flight and have a 4.5 hour wait in FCO, but would much less rather miss the flight to Dubai and connection to Sydney! It's not like there's another flight in an hour, and the Alitalia flight would be on a different ticket.

Oops, didn't state departure time. Arriving 2020, departing on Emirates 2205, so only 1 hr 45 min.

You will arrive in T1. I would just deal with the 4.5 hour connection. I think 1 hr 45 is too close to risk when on two separate tickets.
