ATTRACTIONS IN MUMBAY: Below is just a teaser list of the many attractions the city of Mumbay and surrounding offer, followed by a list of names, distances and means to get there:

1. The Gateway of India is a huge archway on the water's edge at Apollo Bunder. This famous monument was built to commemorate the first-ever visit by a British Monarch--King George V and Queen Mary in 1911. It is a 26m high structure, complete with four turrets and intricate latticework carved into the yellow basalt stone.

2. The Hanging Gardens, in Mumbai, also called Ferozeshah Mehta Gardens, are terraced gardens perched at the top of Malabar Hill, on its western side, just opposite the Kamala Nehru Park, and provide sunset views over the Arabian Sea and feature numerous hedges carved into the shapes of animals. You have an awe-inspiring panoramic view of sweeping Chowpatty Beach and Marine Drive from here.

3. Flora Fountain is a stone fountain situated in the Fort business district, the heart of South Mumbai. The fountain depicts the Roman goddess Flora. It is now a heritage structure. Encircled by imperial colonial buildings, the fountain still depicts colonial times.

4. Prince of Wales Museum--now known as Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastusangrahalaya, close to the Gateway of India, is a magnificent, but somewhat strange structure, built in a confluence of Gothic and Moorish styles, and crowned by a sparkling white dome. It boasts a good collection of ancient Indus Valley artifacts dating back to 2000 BC and some priceless Tibetan and Nepalese Art. The museum houses important art, natural history and archaeological exhibits, as well as porcelain from China and a collection of classical Gandhara Buddhas.
