Public Transportation at San Diego Airport:  For taxis & limos check telephone directory or visit San Diego Convention & Visitors Bureau in the Arrivals area. Shuttle Vans and buses are available at the Transportation Plazas across from Terminals 1 & 2, and at curbside at the Commuter Terminal.  To access Amtrak / Coaster - you meed to take Bus 992:

Metrobus Route 992 (tel. 619-557-4555 or visit sdmts.com) - wheelchair accessible - stops at all 3 terminals, and runs 5am-11:30pm every 15 mins; weekends/ holidays every 30 mins. It connects with Trolley, Coaster and Amtrak stations to the Amtrak's Sa Fe Depot train station at downtown San Diego, and from there to both the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner and the Coaster, which link Los Angeles & Orange Counties and North County (including Old Town, Sorrento Valley, Solana Beach, Encinitas, Carlsbad & Oceanside).
Amtrak & Coaster Trains: 
Take the Route 992 Bus to the Amtrak Santa  e Depot station, running every 15 mins weekdays /every half hour weekends/holidays:  At the Amtrak Santa Fe station at downtown San Diego, travelers may connect with either the Amtrak's Pacific Surfliner or its COASTER. The Route 992 operates 5am-11:30pm.  Getting to Amtrak trains:  Take the Route 992 Bus, runing every 15 mins weekdays /every half hour weekends/holidays:
At the Amtrak Santa Fe Depot train station at downtown San Diego, travelers may connect with both the Amtrak's Pacific Surfliner or  the COASTER - by using Metrobus Route 992, which operates between 5:00 a.m. and 11:30 p.m., every 15 minutes on weekdays and every 30 minutes on weekends and holidays.

The San Diego Trolley
is the City's light rail system with three lines to popular areas (i.e.,  downtown, Convention Center, SDSU, Old Town, Mexican Border.  While the Trolley does not stop at the Airport, you can transfer from the Metrobus Route 992 to the Trolley's Blue or Orange lines at the America Plaza station.
