Hi, I am looking to book a flight from Hawaii to New York, with United, the connection is 1hr 32m. Would this be classed as an internal flight (not from the US) and if so would my baggage be checked through. Also is this enough of a connection time?

Yes, Hawaii, California, and New York are all conveniently part of the United States. There are no border controls on such a flight and thus your baggage will go straight through.

Hi, i plan to arrive at SFO from SYD at 7:00am and my connecting flight to ORD at 8:20am and i have 1 checked bag, will this be enough time to make my connecting flight? i have been to the US before on the passport 2 years ago and is there any way of getting an express pass?

No, the US Does not have express passes and no, that is not enough time for an International to domestic connection at SFO.

Hi I have a rewards flight on Qantas from SFO to SYD leaving SFO at 23:25, However I need to purchase a flight from YVR to SFO. It looks like United do a flight from YVR arriving at 21:26. From what I can tell the United flight arrives on Area G but the Qantas flight leave from area A. Is it possible to make this transfer? The earlier flight arrives at SFO at 18:15 so I was trying to cut down the layover time. Thanks in advance

If you have checked bags you really have to take the earlier flight. United flights from Vancouver actually arrive in Terminal 3 since they're precleared.

Hello, I'll planning to arrive at SFO from Frankfurt via Lufthansa at 12:55 and travelling onwards to Santa Barbara at 16:05. Is this enough time to transit given the fact I don't have a US passport and will need to clear passport check, customs and recheck my bags.

Yes, that is plenty of time.

Can I connect from southwest to delta without having to go out and back in?

No, the Southwest and Delta concourses are not connected inside security. Also if you have checked bags you will have to claim them from Southwest and recheck them with Delta.

Hi there, I'm taking UA from HKG to SFO then transit to IAH, on the same booking, arrival SFO on 0915 then flight to IAH on 1100. Is this quite tight or I have to change my flights?

Yes that should be just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

Do I only need a transit visa or a proper visa as my final destination is UIO? Do I need to recheck the baggage at SFO?

Even though you are not immediately leaving the country you can still use a transit visa. Transit Visas are valid as long as you are actively transiting the country. You can even transit the country by road or rail on a transit visa.

Hello, I'm arriving to SFO at 11:12 am through American Airlines and then taking a connecting flight , which was not booked together, to Hong Kong (United) at 1:50 pm. I have no bags to check in. I have two questions. 1. Would this be enough time? 2. Normally what's the terminal and if possible the gate, I will board the Hong Kong flight? Thank you

Yes, that should be enough time. You will depart from concourse G of the International Terminal.

Hi there I'm looking at arriving from PHL to SFO at 9.08pm and then travelling onto Sydney at the International Terminal at 11.25pm - will i have enough time, will i have to recheck my bag or go through security again etc or is it a post security connection? Many thanks

What airlines are you flying? Are your tickets on one reservation or two separate ones?

Yes, sorry, all one ticket with AA - flight to Sydney will be code share with Qantas - so I am expecting to check my bags all the way through from PHL to Sydney

Yes, that is enough time. You will just take the AirTrain to the International Terminal and go through Security. You don't have to do anything with your bags in SFO on your way to Sydney.

I will arrive at sfo from cle at 9:43 pm at terminal 3, then will have to go to either g or a (international) for sfo to syd, the time is 10:55 pm. It is a connecting flight. Is it enough time?

Yes, that is enough time. You just have to walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. There is walkway inside security connecting T3 and G.

We arrive at SFO at 12.50pm from an Air New Zealand flight and then connect to a United at 2.20pm to Calary. As they are separate booking we need to collect our bags and then re-check them with United. Is this enough time?

Realistically, no, that is not enough time. It may be possible if the ANZ flight arrives a bit early.

Traveling from Oahu on Hawaiian Airlines arriving at 9:15PM and departing to Boston on United at 10:25PM.Is that enough time to get International terminal to Terminal 3 and do we have to go through security again?

Yes, you will have to go through security again in Terminal 3. If you don't have checked bags you have just enough time if everything goes perfectly and your flight is on-time and you are already checked in for your United flight. If you have checked bags on two separate reservations that is not enough time.

I am from YYC going to SFO via Air Canada, then SFO to HKG via UAL. I have 2 hours 41 mins lay over in SFO, do i need a US transit visa? Is the US tourist visa acceptable? Thank you in advance

What is your citizenship? If you have a multiple-entry tourist visa, then yes, that is acceptable. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Calgary.

thanks for the reply Zap, im a Filipino and i dont have US visa yet. Do i need to apply transit visa in Calgary airport or i will make it online?

You cannot apply for a transit or visitor visa in a foreign airport or online. You need to apply using a US Embassy or Consulate. There is a US Consulate in Calgary.

I am flying from IAH to SFO then on to CTU (Chengdu China). It is all on United. Im thinking I will arrive at Terminal 3 and the depart out of the international terminal. I have 45 minutes. Will I make it?

Yes, that is enough time if your flight from Houston is on-time. Terminal 3 and the G concourse of the International Terminal are connected inside security by a walkway.
