Traveling on a Wednesday arrival in SFO from SQ Air from SIN/Seoul. LANDING SQ at 12:30 PM Must make a connection to a Midwest flight that leaves at 3:15 PM -- is this possible with checked bags that we must collect put through security and recheck?

Midwest airlines has been out of business since 2009. What airline are you flying? Were your tickets purchased together or separately?

I have a flight arriving into SFO at 10am ona busy Labor Day weekend and my connect departs at 10:45am. I am travelling with an infant so ill be gate checking some items. What is the likelihood I miss my connecting flight? I notice there is only 1 more flight out to my final destination that day and being in an airport for 4 hours is not ideal with an infant

I am flring the same airline on both flights. United

It is possible. All united gates are connected inside security in terminal 3.

i have 1 hour 20 minutes of connection in san francisco to Tokyo, will i have to go through customs? will i catch my flight? will i have to pick my suitcase up? im from mexico and my airline is united.

Where is your flight into San Francisco from? There is no US Customs when leaving the US.

it comes from Mexico city! are you sure? the airline told me i had to go through customs.

OK, yes, you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags, and go through security and to your departure gate. This is 10 minutes below the recommended time. You have to go through US Immigration and Customs because you are arriving from Mexico, not because you are departing to Japan. This connection is possible but everything has to go perfectly to make it.

I am coming in on Air NZ at 1pm and would like to get a flight to Chicago on Virgin America at 4pm - will I have enough time to make the flight with immigration and customs

That would be about the bare minimum. Check in online for your Virgin America flight before you leave New Zealand. You will have to transfer your bags yourself to the Virgin America check-in counters.

do you think this is not enough time - connections to Chicago are not that great as I need to get to Detroit,do you think I would be better booking a hotel room and getting a red eye flight

If you need a flight to Detroit, why not just book a redeye ticket on Delta from LAX to Detroit? If you want something cheap and are willing to put up with an Ultra-Low-Cost Carrier, Spirit Airlines also has a redeye nonstop from LAX to Detroit - and their flight leaves LAX at about 10 PM so your layover in LAX wouldn't be as bad.

Will I have enough time to get there

What airport? What airlines? Tickets purchased together or separately?

united from san diego , then SF to Dublin. Flight is booked together

    flight to dublin is airlingus

United uses Terminal 3, not Terminal 1. All you will have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. There is a walkway inside security between United's gates in Terminal 3 and the G gates in the International Terminal where Aer Lingus is. You have plenty of time.

HI I am flying from SLC to CDG (france) with a 1 hour layover in SFO with one checked item. Do I have enough time? Do I have to go through security and get my checked item? Or is my checked item going directly from SLC to CDG? I'm french by the way.

Your bags will be checked through if you purchased your tickets all on one reservation. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You may have to go through security.

I can help you more if you post what airlines you are flying.

    I'm flying,with united

Then you won't have to go through security. You just have to walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. All United gates at SFO are connected inside security.

So will I have enough time to catch my flight?

Yes, you should have plenty of time.

  • Vegas to SFO to Singapore

I am looking at flying to San Francisco from Las Vegas via JetBlue which is scheduled to land at SFO at 21:32, and my international flight from San Francisco to Singapore via Singapore Airlines is at 00:05. Will I have enough time to collect my baggage and check in for my flight to Singapore? If JetBlue lands on time, I should have approximately 2 hrs 30 mins.

Yes, that should barely be enough time.

I bought this as a complete ticket (not separately): YVR 6am --> SFO 8:26am SFO 9:06am --> HNL 11:30am Will I make the connection if I have checked luggage? If not, why on earth would United put these flights together as one journey?

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Vancouver. All you have to do in SFO is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You should have enough time.

Yes, that should be enough time.

  • San Fransisco connection?
    May 13, 2015

I am flying from Portland Or with a connecting flight in San Fransisco on my way to Ireland. I have 50 minutes to make that connection, also a United flight. What are my chances?

Very good as long as your first flight is on-time. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, both in Terminal 3.

Thank you. That relieves some of my anxiety!

  • Is 1hour enough?

Hi, I will be arriving at SFO via United at 1120am and my connecting flight to NRT is at 1220pm via United operated by ANA. Is 1hour enough for me to do the US clearance, bag pick up n bag drop? Thanks.

Where are you flying to SFO from? If you are flying from somewhere else in the US then you don't have to do any clearance or anything with your bags in SFO. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

By the way, I'm a singaporean and the U.S. clearance queue for foreigners is really long. What can I do?

I m flying to Japan, not to US places.

Flying to Japan not to US places.

Where are you flying to SFO from? There is no US customs when leaving the US.

I'm flying off to Japan. Do you mean that I do not need to clear the U.S. customs and go straight to the departure gate? I thought I will need to clear the U.S. customs as I did clear the customs when I transit from Washington to Cancun.

Correct you do not go through US customs when leaving the US. You will go through Japanese customs when you get to Japan.

  • Will I be able to make the connection?

Hi! I am planning to travel to SFO from Singapore on SQ16 via Seoul. It is scheduled to land at 1235 in the SFO international terminal. I would then like to connect to UA5187 from SFO Terminal 3 to Calgary. The UA flight departs at 1401. I will have checked in luggage but both carriers are a part of star alliance so I am hoping to get my bags checked all the way through. Will I (and my bags!) be able to make the connection? Thanks!

It is 4 minutes below the minimum connection time for International to Domestic, even if your bags are tagged through to Calgary. You will still have to claim your bags to go through US Customs.

  • Do I have enough time for this connection?
    Apr 25, 2015

I am arriving at SFO from Auckland, NZ and have exactly three hours to make my connecting flight to Washington DC. Arriving on Air New Zealand, connecting to Virgin America. I have never been to SFO before, and am concerned about the time it takes to get through customs, retrieve baggage and then make it to check in with Virgin America. Can anyone give me an idea of the flow coming off an international flight, and perhaps the quickest way to get to Virgin's terminal, or any other tips/tricks for making this a smooth process? Thanks!

You will arrive in the international terminal , go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then take the AirTrain to Terminal 2, check your bags with Virgin America and go through security. You should have enough time.

  • LAX-SFO-ICN (domestic - intl connection)
    Apr 22, 2015

My flight UA1950 from LAX has now been changed to arrive in SFO at 10:01am which means I have exactly 49 minutes before my flight UA893 to Seoul takes off. I can't miss the international leg as I am meeting a friend at ICN and then catching a flight to ULN together. Will I have enough time to make this connection? Thanks!

It is enough time - all you have to do is walk from one gate to the other. However, there are pretty much hourly flights from LAX to SFO on United. Since it was an involuntary schedule change you can call United and ask to be put on an earlier flight.

I wish that were true, but my only other option is a flight which departs 2.5 hours earlier at 6am. I'd prefer not to make this already extraordinarily long flying day longer if I don't need to. It's also my understanding that it's not as simple as walking from one gate to the next but changing terminals. I'd really like to hear from someone who is familiar with this connection so I can decide if I should opt for the miserably early flight instead.

There is a walkway connecting United's gates in Terminal 3 and their gates in the International Terminal inside security - it is that simple as walking from one gate to the other.

Is 1.5 hrs enough to clear customs at SFO to then get on domestic flight to sacramento? Only carry on luggage. Are the terminals far? Thanks

Yes, that should be enough time. The International terminal is directly next to United's terminal.
