  • Getting from Terminal 2 to Terminal 3 post secuirity

I will depart from Terminal 3; however, I want to go to the Boudain store in Terminal 2 before my flight. Can I go through security in Terminal 2 if my flight doesn't leave from that terminal

They are not obligated to allow that since T2 and T3 are not connected inside security.

Looking to book a flight: Canada-USA-Asia, is the 1hr and 26min layover in SFO possible, especially with check-in baggage and 2 different airline carriers? 8:00 am – 10:39 am Toronto (YYZ) – San Francisco (SFO) Air Canada 737 · Airbus A320 Often delayed by 30+ min Layover in San Francisco SFO 1h 26m 12:05 pm – 6:25 pm+1 San Francisco (SFO) – Taipei (TPE) United 871 · Boeing 787 Often delayed by 30+ min

sorry comment came out wonky, rehash: 8am - 10:39am, Toronto to San Fran with Air Canada. Layover in San Fran for 1hr and 26mins. 12:05pm - 6:25pm San Fran to Taipei, Taiwan with United.

also seems as if the 'Air Canada' portion of the flight is actually all bookable on 1 ticket through United but just operated by Air Canada... does this mean all my check-in luggage will go directly to my destination then? Sorry for all the confusion.

Yes, if everything is on the same reservation then you won't have to do anything with your bags in San Francisco. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto and all you have to do in SFO is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

  • Enough Time to Make Connection Flight?

I am flying in to SFO from Denver on Virgin and land at 2:10pm, trying to connect with Emirates flight to Dubai at 3:40pm. Is an hour and a half enough time to make the connection?

Yes, you just have to take the AirTrain from Terminal 2 to the International Terminal and go through security. You should have enough time.

  • 1 Hour and 30 min transfer from Terminal 2 to International

Hi, We have a 1 hour and 30 min connection from DEN to SFO via Virgin America. We are headed to Dubai on Emirates. We arrive on a Saturday at 2:10pm and leave at 3:40pm. We plan on checking bags - is this possible to make?

All on the same reservation. Will they check bags through for us?

Yes, your bags will be checked through. Yes, you just have to take the AirTrain from Terminal 2 to the International Terminal and go through security. You should have enough time.

Thanks for the speedy response! Happy Friday!

  • Is 1 hour 40 minutes enough for different airline

Hi Zap!! My DELTA flight arrives in SFO from JFK at 10:31AM, my connecting flight with MU is leaving at 12:10PM, that leaves me about 1 hour and 40 minutes for the layover. I need to check my bag. Will I have enough time? Do I need to go through security again after recheck my bag? I know both of the flights are in the same terminal. Terminal 1.

To be accurate, the first one is 10:23AM arrival, the 2nd one is 12:00 departure.

Both flights are not in the same terminal. The China Southern flight departs from the International Terminal. I don't know why SFO insists on having a Terminal 1 and a Terminal I - people keep confusing them. Yes, you will have to go through security again. This is a very difficult connection if your bags aren't checked through because the flights are on two separate reservations.

  • Connect time needed to go from terminal 2 to terminal 3

Do I have enough time to go from terminal 2 arriving on virgin america at 9:10 am to catch a united flight at terminal 3 to vancouver at 10:50 am? Thanks.

Without bags that's probably enough time if the first flight is on-time. It's probably not possible with checked bags since you'd have to transfer them yourself.

I'm planning a trip from Toronto to Maui, Hawaii with transfer at SFO from Air Canada AC735 to United Airlines UA-1273. It shows that there is 1h 36 min to do this? I'm assuming I arrive in the International terminal and perhaps leaving from Terminal 3, but I'm not sure? Do you know If I'll have enough time?...and since I clear US customs in Toronto, will my bags automatically go to Maui? Thanks for your help.

Yes, you will arrive in concourse G of the International Terminal and depart from Terminal 3. There is a walkway connecting them inside security. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You don't have to do anything with your baggage. You should have enough time.

  • Is 3hrs enough time

We are flying in from Australia on a Qantas flight and have to clear customs and get on a domestic United flight (not on same ticket) 3hrs later. Is this enough time given all the issues I am hearing about clearing security???

That's just enough time if everything goes smoothly. Security at SFO is generally pretty good. Their agents don't work for the TSA.

Traveling ORD - SFO, arriving at 838pm in Term 3. Bags are going through (no need to claim) is a 945pm departure to AUK enough time to get from Term 3 to Internarional at SFO?

Yes, that is enough time. There is a walkway inside security from T3 to concourse G of the International Terminal where you depart. I'm guessing you are going to Auckland, which the code is AKL, not AUK.

  • Separate Reservations Connection from Terminal 2 to International

I am flying from ORD to SFO via American Airlines arriving in Terminal 2 at 11:00pm. Then i have a separate reservation for an international flight through Eva Air leaving from International Terminal at 1:20am. Will 2hrs and 20mins be enough time and what is the quickest route to transfer from Terminal 2 to International Terminal? Thanks!

That's barely enough time if everything goes smoothly. The fastest way is the AirTrain.

  • SLC -> SFO -> DEL and 1 hr 43 min layover time at SFO

    1. I am travelling from SALT LAKE CITY TO SFO thru UNITED AIR LINES (Terminal 3) arriving at 10:00 AM 2. I have only 1 hour 43 min layover time in SFO to catch AIR INDIA(DEL) Flight (International terminal) 3. Can I Use CONNECTER between TERMINAL 3 AND TERMINAL G to catch AIR INDIA(DEL) Flight? 4. or shell I go to the main hall (International terminal) to check in at AIR INDIA desk? 5. Is 1hr 43 min is enough time to catch the international flight? 6. I have booked this itinerary thru cheapoair.com online

If everything is on the same reservation and your bags are checked through to DEL you can go directly to your departure gate in G via the connector and you have enough time.

    Thank you very much

Hello, I fly in from hkg to sfo with united, arriving at 9:30 am ,then SFO to YYZ with air canada at 11:40 am, both tickets were booked through an online agency together. Would i need to claim and re-check bags? And if so, would it be enough time? Thanks you

Yes, you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security and to your departure gate. You have just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

  • Inbound international traveler with 1.5 hr transit time at SFO

Hello, This website is very useful! I am flying in from Hong Kong to SFO on Sat morning and I have my next flight to SNA (Orange Cnty, CA) in 90 minutes. I am an international traveler with an ESTA (visa-waived) pass (so the line for immigration shouldn't be thaaaat long). My flights are both United. Will 90 mins. be enough? I have another option - with 3.30 hrs of transit time. Of course, I prefer taking the earlier one to save time but I am worried whether I can make it on time. Maybe they will put me on the next flight in case I miss the earlier one, so nothing to lose (provided that they have seats avail)? Any advice is highly appreciated!

Yes, that should be just enough time if your flight is on-time. Yes, if you miss your connection they will put you on their next flight to SNA with seats available.

Dear Zap, thank you so much for your prompt reply!
