This is my return flight. I arrive in SFO from Boston at 2045 (Terminal 3) and my next flight SFO-SIN is at 2235 (international terminal). Do I have to go through US Immigration, claim my bags, go through US Customs, re-check my bags, go through security and then departure gate?
both flights are on United Airlines (UA)
There is no US Immigration or Customs when LEAVING the US. All you have to do in SFO on your way to Singapore is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. There is a walkway from T3 to the International Terminal inside security.
Hello Im flying Air New Zealand from Auckkan. Id to San Francisco then on to Frankfurt flying Lufthansa. I have 2 hours between flights...ido I have to collect and recheck my bags? Panicking a bit!
Yes, you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go through security and to your departure gate. You should have enough time.
United Flights: LAX to SFO for a 56min connecting flight to Vancouver being operated by Air Canada even though it's a United flight. Do I need to go thru US Customs? Do I need to claim my checked in bag and recheck it in? And is 56 mins enough time?
There is no US Customs when leaving the US. The LAX-SFO flight will be operated by United. All you have to do in SFO is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You should have enough time.

What airline are you flying to SFO? Are both flights on the same reservation or two separate reservations? There is no US Immigration when leaving the US, only when returning.
Hi, Flying from Sydney to SanFrancico on April 20th, arrive 7.10am...connecting to Cancun for a flight at 8.40am. Both with the same airline. Do I have to clear customs, pickup bags and will it be enough time? Thank you for your time
Yes, you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go through security and to your departure gate. You have enough time if everything goes smoothly.
Hi I am on a domestic flight from Las Vegas (LAS) departing at 7am and arriving at 8:30am at SFO. I need to catch an international flight on Singapore Airlines at 11:30am. I am issued 2 separate tickets and have check in luggage. Do I have enough time to catch the international flight? Any advice on what is the process to get from Alaska Air to the international flight, especially around getting my luggage from Alaska Air and re-checking in to Singapore Air and security checks. Do I have to come out of the gate after getting my luggage from Alaska Air and then re-check in again? Thanks
Yes, that is enough time. Both airlines are in the International Terminal, so all you have to do is claim your bags from Alaska, re-check it with Singapore, and go through security. 3 hours is plenty of time.
Hi, I am arriving from Montreal to SFO on Air Canada. I have 2h to take my next flight for Honolulu (on United Airlines). Do i have to check in my bagage again or will they follow? Is two hours enough to change terminal? Thks,
If both flights are on the same reservation you don't have to do anything with your bags in SFO and just have to go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Montreal.
Hi. I'll be arriving from Delhi and connecting on to PDX. After I recheck my bags can I leave the airport to explore San Fran? I've tried this in Delhi and been stuck in the domestic terminal for 8 hours and do t want to repeat that with a 12 hour layover inside SFO. Thanks.
Yes, you can leave the airport. You are actually outside security after you clear US Customs.
Thanks! In Delhi you're also outside of security but not allowed to leave the airport once you enter the check-in area.
