I will fly through all United Flights: IAH (Houston)->SFO->PVG(Shanghai, China), but only 1 hr and 10 min connection time in SFO, is enough to pass the custom and proceed to board the international flight? Thank you!
There is no US Customs when leaving the US. All you have to do in in SFO is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. There is a walkway connecting Terminal 3 where you arrive to Concourse G of the International Terminal where you depart. You have enough time.
I'll fly from Veracruz to Taiwan. I'll go through the US immigration in Houston, then layover in SFO at 12:55 pm , then the last connection from SFO is at 13:40pm. Will it be enough to catch my connecting flight within 45 minutes? Thank you!!
45 minutes is enough time but leaves no time to spare if the flight from Houston is delayed.
I am flying from Redding to San Fran with United on Thursday Jan 26 lading in San Fran at 7.35 AM and flying out of San Fran to Singapore with Singapore Airlines same morning at 9,25 AM. Different reservations, what am I to do with my checked bags? Thanks
You will have to claim your bags in Terminal 3 run to the International Terminal and re-check them with Singapore and go through security. This is a very difficult connection.
Thanks for this. I think I'll take a smaller suitcase and will not have to check it. Will I then have the time....
Yes, then you should have enough time, especially if you can check in for your Singapore flight online.
Planning a trip to Taiwan. My preferred return flight brings me through SFO from Hong Kong and then onto IAD (all on United). The scheduled layover is 2 hours and 10 minutes. I have flown internationally in the past just not via SFO, so I am not sure if the layover time will be adequate to clear customs and make it for the connection. Any help would be appreciated.
Yes, that should be enough time if the flight from Hong Kong is on-time.
Thank you for the response. I forgot to mention I have a Global Entry card so that is even quicker.
Arriving SFO from Sydney at 0710. Connecting flight to Miami is at 08.35, so 1hr 25mins layover. All flights with United on the one ticket. I am a non US citizen. I know it will be tight, but is it at all within the realms of possibility? There seems not many alternatives flying United, Syd - Miami..
It's definitely possible if the flight from Sydney is on-time. If you miss your connection you will be rerouted to Miami through Houston.
Hi, I am a Singapore travelling on United Airlines from Calgary, 0715pm, landing at SFO, 0925pm, for my connecting flight to Singapore at 1020pm, same airline. Would like to know if the layover is sufficient for my connecting flight. Thank you
Yes, that is enough time. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Calgary. All you have to do in SFO is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.
I will be landing in SFO from YVR at 9:50PM and depart SFO-EWR at 10:35PM. I'm in first class on both flights.
Same reservation... checked baggage. I am a US Citizen and have Global Entry.
Is this enough time?
You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Vancouver. If both flights are on United you just have to walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You should have enough time if the flight from Vancouver is on-time.
Hi, I am a non-US citizen and will be arriving from TPE to SFO at 0620am via United Airlines and have booked a American Airlines ticket seperately that departs on 0710am. Is the layover time too short? Thanks for your advice.
Yes, that is completely impossible. In San Francisco you will arrive in the International Terminal, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then need to take the AirTrain to Terminal 2, re-check your bags with American and go through security. You need at least 2 hours for your transfer, preferably closer to 3.
I absolutely agree – it's impossible. You may not be even able to clear the immigration in 50 minutes. And then you will have to check–in for the next flight and get to another terminal and do security check again. I agree that you need 2 hours minimum.
