Hi, I am flying from Australia into LAX then getting a connecting flight to San Fran. Do I need to go through LAX immigration or can I just get my connecting flight to San Fran and clear imagination in San Fran?
In LAX you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, walk to your departure terminal, and go through security and to your departure gate.
Arriving SFO at 12:55 pm on Air NZ then switching to another airline (separate booking) for a 3:35 pm departure to IAD. Will that be enough time to deplane, clear customs, go through security and make the connection? Thanks!
It's not impossible but it will be very difficult, especially if you have checked baggage.
We are planning to only have carry on bags. Thanks for the help!
Family and I intend to fly into SFO From SIN, on SQ, then onward SFO>YVR.. By all accounts, international flight into SFO then domestic to Vancouver.. Do we have to go through US Customs/ Immigration and/or Security? If we have to, it will be unlikely that we'll make it cos transit time just 2h 15m..

I have same question with regards to YVR>SFO and then US Customs/ Immigration/ Security for onward SFO>SIN...

Bottom line, seeing the number of delays on YouTube thru US Customs/ Immigration/ Security, if my family has to be subject to borderline molesting, I'll choose to fly into YVR via a non-US City..

Many thanks!
Yes, you have to go through US Immigration, Claim your bags, go through US Customs, then go through security and to your departure gate. 2 Hrs 15 mins is enough time if both flights are on the same reservation. On the return flight, you will pre-clear US Immigration and customs in Vancouver, so if both flights are on the same reservation then all you have to do in SFO is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.
I am traveling from LAX with two connecting flights, the first at SFO and the second at Toronto, headed to YOW, both flights are with Air Canada. Would I have to claim and recheck my baggage for both flights? (i.e. Once arriving at SFO from LAX and then SFO to Toronto)
If all the flights are on the same reservation all you have to do in SFO is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate and then in Toronto all you should have to do is go through Canadian Immigration and customs.
Flying from Vancouver to Pvr with an connection through San Fran. I will be going through US customs in Vancouver before landing in San Fran. Will I have enough time to make my flight to Pvr if I only have 1 hr and 5 mins.
Yes, you have enough time. If both flights are on United then all you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate in SFO.
Denver to San Francisco virgin america flight then need to connect China Southern to Guangzhou, baggage is checked for final destination at Denver, is there any way I can walk to international terminal without taking air train? or what is the best way to catch international flight? how much minimum time is suggested ? Please.
Yes, you can walk or take the AirTrain. Either way you have to go through security again in the International Terminal. I recommend at least 75 minutes.
i am flying from PVR with a connection through San Fran and only have an hour and 20 mins to connect. Is this enough time? Will I have to go through USA Customs in San Fran as well. Final destination is Vancouver and I am a Canadian.
Yes, in San Francisco on your way to Vancouver you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security and to your departure gate. You are below the minimum international to International connection time at SFO (90 minutes) and below the 2 hours I recommend.
I am travelling from Denver to SFO with Virgin America airlines. WIl be catching the Emirates to Dubai. Can someone tell if i need to recheck my bags at SFO or will it be through check in till my destination. Even if recheckin is required then will I wil be able to reach A9 gate from gate 52 of SFO.
Is it one reservation or two separate reservations? How much time do you have?
I'm flying from Toronto YYZ to Tokyo NRT with connecting flight at SFO. YYZ-SFO (Air Canada) and SFO-NRT ANA). Do I need to collect and reclaim luggage at SFO? Also for my return flight, TPE-SFO (United Airlines) connecting SFO-YYZ (AC), do I need to do the same? Thanks.
On your way to Toronto, you will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. All you have to do in SFO going that way is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. On the way back, in SFO, you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security and to your departure gate.
Sorry, I meant to say "On your way to Tokyo" at the beginning.
Hi, planning on flying from BWI UA 753 into SFO (948 AM arrival) to catch SQ31 at 1130 am. tight connection time? not planning on checking in luggage.
That should be enough time if the flight from Baltimore is on-time.
