We fly out of Fresno on United with 1 hour 45 minutes to get to our international flight on Air New Zealand. Our tickets are booked together. Our experience with flights from Fresno is we will land away from the main terminal and take a bus in. Then we will need to get to the departing terminal. How long would this take under normal/good circumstances? Will we need to go through security?

United no longer uses the buses at SFO. You will now arrive in Terminal 3 and can walk directly to your departure gate in the G concourse of the International Terminal, no security required.

Good news. Thanks for your help.

Hello, I'm traveling from Orlando Fl to Victoria BC. I will stop in San Francisco for 1 hour and 30min. Will this be enough time to go custom? Also, do I have to pick up my luggage and take it somewhere else?

You will not go through US Customs on your way to Victoria. There is no US Customs when leaving the US. You will go through Canadian Immigration and Customs when you get to Victoria. All you have to do in SFO is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

I'm flying into SFO on virgin arriving at 8:30 and need to get a United flight to Victoria at 9:20. I'll have my bag but need to get between the gates/terminals. Do I need to go back through security or can I go directly?

Yes, you will need to go through security. The terminals are not connected inside security. Also, if you are not able to check in online for your United flight (because you may not be able to because it's an International Flight and your passport details must be confirmed). You will have to hurry to a United counter to do so in order to get there before the check-in cutoff.

Arriving SFO from BNA via American Airlines at 5:10pm. Need to check in at New Zealand Airlines for flight leaving at 9:45. Not worried about time, just layout of domestic and international terminals. Are they connected beyond security?

American Airlines and Air New Zealand's gates are not connected inside security.

How far is it from Terminal 3, gate 76A to Terminal 3, gate 85? Need to know if wheel chair would be needed and where to find one if so.

It's pretty close. If you do need wheelchair service you need to request it from United by calling them before your flight.

I am flying with United from Paris (CDG) to SFO and take the connecting flight to SLC. I will, if flight is on time, arrive SFO at 12:10pm and the connecting flight to SLC is at 1:30pm. Is this enough time for going though emigration, security, and recheck in the baggages?

That is 10 minutes below the recommended minimum connection time. It is possible to make the connection in time but everything will have to go perfectly in order for you to do so.

Time to connect as per booking is land at SFO @ 10:25 AM Terminal 1 (Int.) and depart 11:25 AM Terminal 3. Is 1 hour enough time. Can this be done by walking and what is suggested route to walk or should we consider a shuttle, if so, what is designation and stops. Thanks.

There is no such thing as "Terminal 1 INT" Only Air Canada flies nonstop from Toronto to San Francisco and their flights arrive in the International Terminal. You will pre-clear US Immigration and customs in Toronto, you can walk from your arrival in the international terminal to your departure gate in Terminal 3. However, if you arrive on the A concourse, you will have to exit security, walk across the main hall of the international terminal to the G concourse, go through security and then walk to your departure gate in Terminal 3. Also, note that many United flights to HNL actually leave from the G concourse of the International terminal so you may not have far to walk at all.

Do i have to collect baggage and go through security at SFO or is this taken care of by airline?

If you purchased your tickets together you will not have to do anything with your baggage or go through security in SFO. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. All you have to do in SFO is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

Thanks ever so much ZAP. That certainly takes a load off my mind. I assume the same holds true for the return trip. But that goes HNL -> LAX -> YYZ. Job well done eh?

Yes, but in LAX, United and Air Canada are located in different Terminals, so you will arrive in Terminal 7 and depart from Terminal 2, which is clear on the opposite side of the airport, so you either have to take a shuttle or walk across the parking garage to get between terminals, and then go through security once you get to Terminal 2. Also, I was recently made aware that Air Canada is now sometimes using gates in the A concourse of the International terminal at SFO, if you do arrive into one of these gates you will have to go through security on the way to your departure gate.

Sorry if this is a double post. I posted once but I do not see it on my screen. We are flying from Maui to San Francsico arriving at 4:50AM connecting flight to Chicago at 6:00 AM. We arrive at Chicago at 12:10pm with a connecting flight to London, ON at 1:30PM. Is there enough time at each airport for transfers? Will we have to pick up our luggage at each airport? I think we go thru customs in London - is that correct??

sorry for the double post - I was on the wrong forum,

Both transfers should be plenty of time. You will not have to pick up your baggage at either transfer. You will go through Canadian Immigration and customs in London.

    Thanks

I think we will go thru customs in London??

Flying YVR to SAN with 1 hr. 30 min. layover in SFO. Will we need to go through Customs and Immigration in SFO and is 1hr. 30 min. enough time to do that and make connection.

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Vancouver. All you have to do in SFO is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

Flying into SFO from Vancouver BC Canada (YVR) then flying to Sydney Australia (SYD). All flights are operated by United Air (UA). Connecting time is 54 minutes. Are there sufficient time to connect between flights? Do I need to recheck baggage, and go through custom and immigration again?

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Vancouver. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, which will be connected inside security. You have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

Hi, I am looking into a flight from Toronto (YYZ) to SFO, and then from SFO to Tapei. The layover time between the first flight and the second flight is only 1 HR. Is it secure to book this flight? YYZ - SFO is operated by Air Canada. SFO - TPE is operated by ANA

Will you be purchasing the tickets together? ANA does not fly SFO-TPE nonstop, so that segment will actually be operated by United. You will pre-clear US Immigration and customs in Toronto, so all you will have to do in San Francisco is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate which will both be in the G concourse of the International Terminal. Yes, that should be enough time.

yes. my ticket is YYZ - TPE. you are right, the flight from SFO-TPE is with United. Great to hear reassurance from you ZAP, cuz you seem to know what you are talking about :D

Is 30 min enough layover time to make the transfer at sfo with only carryon

Yes, that should be enough time if your first flight is on-time. The gates for both flights should also be located very near each other.
