I am traveling in from Hawaii on united and will have a 2 hour window to get to my southwest flight, I need to collect my luggage. Is that enough time to make the connection?

You have just enough time if everything goes perfectly.

Thank you, I didn't know if I would have enough time to get my luggage from United and run across from terminal 3 to terminal 1 to check in my luggage with southwest.

Hi, with a 2 hour connection from ICN to SFO to LAX, will 2 hours be sufficient in going through immigration/customs (no checkin baggage), and walk over to terminal 2 across the way? Thanks!

That should be just enough time if both flights are on the same reservation and your first flight is on-time.

My sister will go to San Francisco, but before she will stay in Vancouver for a week. She is coming from Paris to Vancouver and will make a connecting flight in SFO A week later she will fight form Vancouver to SFO. How should she fill up the ESTA application forms? Is she in transit or not, dos she need to apply ESTA twice? - Thank you

She only has to apply for ESTA once. She is not considered in-transit if she is staying the night in SFO either way.

Arriving SFO at 5:15 PM terminal 1, connecting to British Airways flight leaves at 7:15, apparently I have to go thru 2 security checkpoints. Do I have enough tiime to make my London flight? Carryon bag only. Thanks!

You do not have to go through 2 security checkpoints. Where are you flying into SFO from and what airline are you flying into SFO on?

Flying into SFO from seattle, on Delta. Arrival is 5:15 PM 9/6 Flying out at 7:15 on British Airways International terminial gates a-1 thru a-12. I should be at the British Airways gate at 6:50 at the latest though as the flight leaves at 7:15.Thank you!

So all you have to do is walk from Terminal 1 where you arrive to the International Terminal, get your BA boarding pass if you don't already have it, and go through security. You should have enough time.

Thanks! But I still have to go through a security check line right? On a map for security checkpoints at SFO there are 2 checkpoints from Terminal 1 to International terminal, so I'm a little confused.

Yes, you will go through security once in the International Terminal.

We have 75 minutes to make a connection flying from Phoenix AZ to London Heathrow. Is that enough time? We have to change terminal and I guess we shall have to go through security too.

You have enough time. You do not have to go through security again. There is a walkway inside security from Terminal 3 where you arrive to Concourse G of the International Terminal where you depart.

I have an elderly female traveling from SMF connecting to SFO arriving in terminal 3 United Airlines and connecting to terminal 1 United Airlines operated by Air Canada to Montréal. How will she get from terminal 3 to terminal 1? How long will it take and will she have to go through security again. Thank you!

tickets purchased on one reservation. She has 1:25mins layover. Is that enough time?

She does not depart from Terminal 1. she departs from concourse G of the International Terminal. All she has to do is walk from her arrival gate to her departure gate. She has plenty of time.

hi my family going to visit at 10/04/2016,from BEIJING,CHINA-PHOENIX,AZ.the itineray is PEK-SFO-PHX,layover at SFO is 2hour25minutes,all airplane operated by UNITED AIRLINES. Because we have to go through customs/immigration, 1.will 2hours25minutes be enough connection time? 2. how many minutes will it take if we walk from Terminal 1 to Terminal 3? 3. usually,if we delayed, would airlines arrange us the next available flight for free charge? thank you

Yes, that is enough time. You will arrive in the International Terminal, not Terminal 1. Yes, if your flight from Beijing is delayed, they will rebook you on the next available flight to Phoenix.

thank you zap,we hope we rush can make it

  • 1 HOUR 10 MIN LAYOVER IN SFO

Hi I am travelling from IAD to SFO with Virgin America and after a 1 hour and 10 min layover I fly to ICN with Singapore Airline (Seoul, International). I'm told that I would actually have to get a separate boarding pass from the Singapore Airline counter once I arrive in San Fran. This is little confusing for me because they said they will automatically transfer my baggage all the way to Seoul From Washington DC. Regardless, would I have enough time to exit the domestic gate, walk to main international hall, claim my boarding pass, go through the security and make it to the next flight?

Yes, it means that Virgin America's computers aren't able to issue SIngapore boarding passes. Regardless you'd have to exit security to get to the International Terminal, so all you have to do is stop at the Singapore check-in desk, get your boarding pass, and go through security. You have barely enough time to make this connection.

I flew from Aus to sin via SFO and Seoul last year via virgin America / SIA. Virgin America was able to issue me a boarding pass all the way, however, when I was in Sfo, I had to go to the SIA boarding hate and exchanged with the SIA pass They should be able to do that as they are within thestar alliance network

Is 37 mins. enough time to make the connection flight b/t SFO (arriving 5:06pm) to KOA (departing 5:43pm) all from terminal 3?

It's possible if the flight from LAX is on-time.

  • Alaska airline to international transfer

Hi, I plan to fly from SEA to SFO with Alaska Airline arriving at 12:55pm, and then transfer to Korean Airline which will depart at 1:40pm. I know both airlines are using International Terminal Boarding Area A, but I wonder if it is possible to transfer between gates without having to leave the gate and then pass the security, and baggage rechecking. Thanks in advance!

If both tickets are on the same reservation that is possible. If you purchase two separate reservations and have checked bags that is not possible.

I am coming from Sydney to Portland OR via SFO by Qantas and Alaska Airlines. Since both airlines use the International terminal, will I still need to go through immigration before boarding my connecting flight to PDX on Alaska Airlines.

Yes, you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go through security and to your departure gate. SFO is your entry point to the US.
