Hi. I'll be arriving from Delhi and connecting on to PDX. After I recheck my bags can I leave the airport to explore San Fran? I've tried this in Delhi and been stuck in the domestic terminal for 8 hours and do t want to repeat that with a 12 hour layover inside SFO. Thanks.
Yes, you can leave the airport. You are actually outside security after you clear US Customs.
Thanks! In Delhi you're also outside of security but not allowed to leave the airport once you enter the check-in area.
I am a US citizen arriving to SFO from Tokyo with a connecting flight in SFO to SMF (final destination) this is a RT ticket purchased with United. When I arrive in SFO from Tokyo will I need to collect my baggage and re-check it for my connecting flight to SMF or will my baggage continue on without any additional work on my part?
Yes, in SFO you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, and go through security.
I arrive from Vegas on United and depart for Toronto on Air Canada. I have 1.15 hours to connect. Is this enough time? Should I just to carry on luggage?
Yes that is enough time. You can carry-on or check bags - it won't affect anything. There is no US customs when leaving the US.
United flights: Vancouver to SFO for 2hrs connecting flight to Austin.
1) where I will be cleared US-custom ?
2) How long to walk from United international to Domestic terminals ? Do I need to go thru US-custom again ?
3) Is 2hrs enough for connecting time ?
Thank you in advance for your help.
You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Vancouver. You will arrive in a domestic gate. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have plenty of time.
Hi, I will reach San Francisco international airport on 9.05am via united airlines , my domestic flight at Terminal 3 at 11.30am also via united airlines , transit time of 2.5hrs . How long will it take from international to terminal 3?Will I make it on time ?
How is the arrangement when I reach ? Do I really need to collect my luggages and do check in again at Terminal 3 ?
You will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go to Terminal 3, through security and to your departure gate. You have enough time.
My partner has agoraphobia and is highly anxious w customs clearance & crowds n queue. How is the custom clearance in sfo? Will hv 1.5hr in between to be connect internal flight. Same united airline provided. Enough time? Will the experience be too overwhelming for my partner?
Where are you flying from and to? What time are you arriving?
Singapore to sfo. Reaching at 9am
That is enough time if everything goes smoothly and both flights are on the same reservation. SFO is a fairly large and modern facility and the crowds shouldn't be too bad at 9 AM.
I have a one hour and five minute layover in SFO between Minneapolis and Tokyo, on United (single reservation). Will I have enough time to get between terminals, assuming no major flight delays? Will I need to collect and/or re-check any bags?
All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. There is a walkway connecting the two terminals inside security. You don't have to do anything with your bags. You have enough time.
Hi, I'm wondering if I have enough time to get in international terminal 3.15pm in UC on virgin to catch a different ticketed flight to Portland on Alaska airlines at 1705. I will have a checked baggage and I'm from uk so will have an etsa any help is appreciated!
Since it's two separate reservations, it will be really hard for you to make the bag check cutoff for the Alaska airlines flight if you have checked bags with that amount of time.
Hey Everyone! I booked a flight from Zurych to Honolulu via San Francisco. My first flight is operated by Swiss Airlines arriving to Terminal I and the second one operated by United Airlines departing from Terminal 3. I'm gonna have 2h 45 minutes to change the plane. As an European citizen with Polish passport I guess I will need to go through all US immigration process in SFO, not in Honolulu. Do u think its enough time to go through all the process and catch my second flight? I'll just add it's gonna be my first time in USA. Will I need to collect my checked-in baggage in San Francisco? or it goes str8 to Honolulu? thanks for any help!
Yes, that is enough time. Yes, in SFO you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security and to your departure gate.
We are flying into SFO from Boston, and have 45 minutes to change terminals and catch a flight to Sydney. Is this enough time? A single United reservation.
Yes, it's enough time if the flight from Boston is on-time. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. The two terminals are connected inside security by a walkway.
