Im flying out of SFO to ICN on a noon Asiana flight, but first I need to fly into SFO on DL standby. The only flight that gets into SFO that morning on DL lands at 10:54. Is there any chance I have enough time to collect my baggage and check in again for my flight at noon?
No, I don't think that's enough time. I'd try to fly in the night before if there is not an earlier flight that's open. Maybe you should just buy a ticket to SFO to avoid losing your flight to Seoul.
Hello - I am flying to SFO from MKE on Southwest. I have a two hour layover and then leave SFO to OGG on Virgin Atlantic. Do I have enough time to collect my luggage, check back in and get through security and to my new gate in time?
Thank you!
Virgin Atlantic does not fly from SFO to OGG, you are on Virgin America. That is just enough time if everything goes smoothly.
My wife is flying with United Airlines, originating at Sydney to SFO arriving at 7:05 am, with connecting United flight to Denver departing at 12:55pm. As I understand, she will go to immigration at SFO, claim baggage, go to customs and re-check baggage, then to the UA gate for departure. All steps covered? And is enough time (5.5 hrs) allowed?
After she re-checks her bags she will also go through security. She has PLENTY of time.
I will be arriving SFO on Hawaiian Airlines from Kauai at 10:15pm, and have to catch my next flight to HKG on Cathay Pacific at 00:50am. Will that be enough time for me to make my connection if I have checked luggage?
Yes, that should be enough time if everything goes smoothly.
I m leading a group of students from Chicago to Singapore via SF. We have 1h 40 connection to change terminals. Will this be enough time?
When getting off the Chicago flight will we have to collect our bags and check them in again? We are flying United.
If both flights are on United then all you have to do in SFO is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. There is a walkway from Terminal 3 where you arrive to concourse G of the International Terminal where you depart inside security.
I land from Vancouver in San Francisco tomorrow at 21:49 via Air Canada and I leave for Sydney at 23:25 through Qantas, same reservation. I have never been to SFO - any tips on navigating my way through? I am worried I won't make it on the Sydney flight.
You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Vancouver. In SFO you will likely arrive in the G concourse of the International Terminal and depart from the A concourse of the International Terminal, which means you will have to go through security to get to your departure gate.
am flying LAX-SFO by United and the to Panama by Copa with 1:30 layover. Do I have enough time? do I need to recheck luggage?
If both flights are on the same reservation then you don't have to do anything with your bags in SFO.
If I get a ticket on UA to AKL on their website flying into SFO in UA834 arriving 0937 to and flying out in the evening on UA917 departing 1045pm. Will my bags be checked through in LAS all the way to AKL so I can go around San Francisco for the day without my check in bags?
You have to claim your bags in SFO when entering the US in order to go through US Customs. If everything is on the same reservation you can then re-check them at the re-check desk. If it's a separate reservation you have to take them to the United check-in desk.
Hi, I am travelling with BA and arriving to SFO International terminal at 2PM. I have a connecting flight with United at 4.15PM (2h15m) from Terminal 3. I am wondering if I will have enough time to go through the border, customs, re-check my luggage and board in the next flight... Additionally, I was wondering if I could print my UA luggage tags in London to speed it up, by dropping my luggage on the international exit? Any help would be much appreciated!
No, you won't be able to get your United bag tags in London. You will have to take your bags to T3 to re-check them. This is a very difficult connection, probably impossible unless the BA flight arrives early.
Flying Jetblue from FLL to SFO on Wed, scheduled to arrive SFO 11pm. Then I have SFO to HKG on Cathay Pacific next morning at 11am. SFO websites indicate both Jetblue and Cathay Pacific gates inside International terminal. But I assume I still need to exit terminal, check in at counter, pass security then back to Cathay gate normally? Anyone know if I can just walk to Cathay gates and get check in done there without exiting? I am Asia Mile member and brought ticket on cathay website so assume I can check in online but how about luggage drop off? Can it be done at gate? The first domestic flight has on time average of 59% and severe weather forecast next Wed for SFO, hence my anxiety. Plan to stay overnight inside SFO since it's only a few hours apart. Any advice on how best to made sure I can made the connection will be greatly appreciated as I'm attending a funeral in HK.
Yes that is correct, you also won't be allowed through security until the morning and you won't be able to check your bags until the morning.
Thank you! In the worst case where my first flight is cancel and I take the next available flight that arrive SFO at 10am. Can I just ran from Jetblue gate to Cathay gate? (since it looks like it's inside the same terminal) Assuming I don't have luggage to check in and I able to check in online before the flight?
Yes, if you don't have checked bags you can do that.
