Hi, I plan to fly from SEA to SFO with Alaska Airline arriving at 12:55pm, and then transfer to Korean Airline which will depart at 1:40pm. I know both airlines are using International Terminal Boarding Area A, but I wonder if it is possible to transfer between gates without having to leave the gate and then pass the security, and baggage rechecking. Thanks in advance!
If both tickets are on the same reservation that is possible. If you purchase two separate reservations and have checked bags that is not possible.
I am coming from Sydney to Portland OR via SFO by Qantas and Alaska Airlines. Since both airlines use the International terminal, will I still need to go through immigration before boarding my connecting flight to PDX on Alaska Airlines.
Yes, you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go through security and to your departure gate. SFO is your entry point to the US.
We are flying from Toronto to Honolulu with United connecting in San Fran. Is two hours enough for a connection time? Will we need to go through security or customs/ immigration or will we just need to go to our gate? Thanks!
Also, it says Terminal change (although I'm not sure which terminal we arrive in/leave from), will we have to go through security again? Or recheck our bags (both flights are united)
You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. All you have to do in San Francisco is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. Your first flight will be operated by Air Canada.
Just wondering if 2 hours will be enough time to go through customs/imigration and recheck in my bagage, landing 1pm for a flight 3pm to LA. Or will it be a rush to make it?
Not a us Citizen, have visa waiver
If you're arriving from an international destination, you will indeed have to go through customs and immigration. Two hours is enough time for this process if your flight into San Francisco is on time. You may need to rush a bit depending on the length of the queues.
Flying from Kona through San francisco to Toronto. We only have 50 minutes and have to change terminals. Flight gets in at 9 pm, will we have enough time to make the connection?
Yes, that should be enough time if the flight from Kona is on-time. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.
On United,Planning trip to Beijing starting in SLC to SFO with a 55 Min connection time for PEK flight UA888. Is the connection time doable, do they hold International flight for connecting passengers.
They don't hold flights. That is enough time. All you have to do in SFO is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.
Hello there,
I am taking UA 147 | Airbus A320 from Vancouver to SFO and there is only 50 minutes of connection from SFO to LIH(Hawaii) by UA 1111 | Boeing 757-200. I understand that I go through US Custom in Vancouver, but I guest will need to go through security when I transfer in SFO so I was wondering 50 minutes of layover will be enough?? Thank you very much in advance.
No, you will not have to go through security in SFO. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have enough time if your flight from Vancouver is on-time.
Thank you for your reply! Much appreciated
I want to fly to Tucson from Vancouver. I'll pass US Customs in Vancouver. Plan to fly United Airlines. Do the incoming flights from Canada land at T3? The connecting flight to Tucson is run by United Express, and those appear to leave from T3. There is only 40 minutes between flights (not yet booked) - given delays due to weather/traffic, should I book with more time between flights?
Yes, you will both arrive and depart from T3. It is possible if the first flight is on-time. You can't predict delays.
Thank you. At least I won't have to go far.
Do I need to have an ESTA for Amercia? I will have one for Canada. I have booked my flight with AirCanada and both legs are on same ticket and booked at same time. Will my checked bags get transferred to new plane during stop over or do we need to collect them and check in again at SFO? Many thanks
What is your citizenship? Canadian ETA doesn't do anything for you in the US. Your second flight will be operated by United. All you have to do in Vancouver is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Vancouver.
We will be flying into SFO from Toronto via Air Canada. From SFO we have a 2hr 11 min connection time to get on Qantas flight to Sydney. A few questions: Will we have to go through customs/security in SFO or will that be done in Toronto? Will our bags be checked right through to Sydney or will we have to collect them? Lastly, will 2hr 11 min be enough time to make the connection on the Qantas flight?
You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. Are your tickets purchased on one reservation or two separate reservations?
