  • SFO to IAd to DXB - customers where?

I am flying from sFO to IAD and then on to DXB via united. Do I go through customs in SF? My flight check says terminal 3 which is a domestic terminal. In IAD, which terminal do I go to?

You depart SFO via United at Terminal 3, which has Boarding Area E, gates 60-69 & Boarding Area F, gates 68-90. You will arrive at IAD at Concourse C/D (C & D gates) United uses both Concourses and a connecting walkway is between them. Look at overhead screens to find your connecting flight & gate number.

Thanks. I guess I still don't where I go through customs - if at all.

You will go through UAE immigration when you get to Dubai. You do not go through US Immigration when leaving the US.

You will go through UAE Immigration/customs when you get to Dubai. Nothing in the US.

I arrive on ANA on International Terminal at 9:30 am and connect to Alaska Airlines at Terminal 1 at12:55 pm. will I have enough time to go through immigration/custom to recheck my baggage with Alaska ?

Yes, that should be plenty of time.

  • Getting from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2

I will be arriving on an international flight from Auckland (UA) and need to get to Terminal 2 for a VX flight to IAD. I have 2hrs connectiion time. What is the fastest way to get to the terminal 2

International Arrivals at SFO who connect to another flight will first go through passport check & pick up their bags; onward passengers will exit Arrivals Hall through dedicated doors marked 'Connecting Flights', where they will re-check in bags at the baggage desk directly outside of the exit. If no agent is available there, or bags are not tagged to its final destination, visit your airline's ticket counter first. To connect to T2, take the AirTrain's red line at either station A or G below the Main Hall. 2 hrs transfer time is sufficient.

Please note that United does not fly to Auckland and that your flight is likely operated by Air New Zealand.

    Thanks a lot

  • IAH to SFO to ICN

I am flying from IAH through SFO connecting to ICN. I am scheduled to arrive at 9:44am and flight departs for ICN at 10:50. United airlines with bags connected through to ICN. Sitting in first class to SFO so will be first off. Can I make this connnection?

You arrive at Terminal 3 - look for signs to AirTrain, board the train to the International Terminal, where you need to go through security check and on to Boarding Area A (gates 1 - 12). Your transfer time should suffice.

Ignore saapr. You DO NOT have to go on the airtrain! United has a secure-side walkway between Terminal 3 and their portion of the International Terminal.

Thanks for the information. So I don't have to clear security again, right? Sounds like I should make it if that is the case. I could go for the flight two ours later but would rather not.

Yes, if you use the walkway you will not have to go through security again.

  • Traveling with toddler: getting from the Intl terminal to Terminal 3

We will be arriving at the International Terminal with a toddler and need to get to Terminal 3 (UA). Our baggage is not ticketed through to our US destination so we'll be pulling those along. What's the best way to get to Terminal 3? AirTrain? or just walk?

It depends where you come out of the International Terminal, walking and the Airtrain would probably take about the same amount of time.

I am planning to travel to Houston and there is a connecting flight from Vancouver, BC to San Franciso, CA with a 45 min layover between United flights. Is that enough time? Will the flight from Vancouver arrive in the same terminal as the connecting flight leaving SFO?

Almost all United flights at SFO now use Terminal 3, so they will probably be the same terminal and 45 minutes is enough time to make that connection. You will pre-clear US Immigration in Vancouver.

Can I make a connection between a United flight and an American with 45 minutes in between?

It will be very hard, even if you have no checked baggage. If you have any chance to make it you need to check in to your American flight online before you depart on your first flight.

  • 37 min connection time - Terminal 1 to Terminal 3

I will be flying into Terminal 1 in SFO and flying out of Terminal 3 - both flights on United Airlines with a 37 minute connection time. Is that enough time? What is the fastest way to get to terminal 3 - walk or shuttle? will I have to go through security again? Thanks.

You will barely have enough time. Take the shuttle, you will not have to go through security. However, note that not many United Express flights use T1 anymore as they recently opened more gates in T3.

I am Canadian and will be returning from Atlanta to Vancouver(YVR) with a transfer in SFO. I only have 40 minutes in SFO. Is this enough time for me to catch my flight? I'm assuming I'm going to have to collect my bags and go through security again. Am I right? Thanks, getting nervous!

Oh, and both are United flights

No, since both of your flights are on United you will NOT have to collect your bags and go through security in SFO. All of your flights will be in Terminal 3 and should be connected inside security. If your first flight is on-time you should have enough time.

    Thank you Iso much!

I have to get from united sky west flight landing at 6:53AM to Virgin air flight to Wash DC leaving at 8AM, boarding at 7:30 am. I have no checked luggage

It will be tough. You will have to go through security again when you reach Virgin America's terminal. Be sure to check in online for your Virgin America flight before you leave on your first flight. Also, delays at SFO in the morning are very common in the morning due to fog. Good luck.

  • 39 minute connection?

Is 39 minutes long enough for a connection from United Express from Reno to United to HNL?

You should have enough time - you arrive at Terminal 3, with boarding areas E & F (and gates E & F). Follow signs.

Is a one hour delay enough time to get from US airway flight 662 arriving 10:10 am to United flight departing at 11:25 am

Yes, it should be as long as you either don't have checked bags or they are checked through to United. I don't think you will have enough time if you have to transfer bags yourself.

i have an overnight cnnxn in sfo. i land around 9pm via AA. i need to go to baggage and claim my bags. now i read that delta has a sky club BEFORE going through security. i am a sky club member. so would it be possible to land, exit security, grab my bags, and then go to the sky club until it closes at midnight? then, when sky club closes, i can sleep "somewhere" in baggage claim. and then the next morning check in for my early flight? are the logistics of this doable? thanks

I arrive from Chicago terminal 3 and have 50 min to get to terminal 1 is it possible and what is the quickest way?

If arriving flight is on time - 50 minutes should be enough. You can walk or take the AirTrain - in both instances you need to go through security check at T1 before proceeding to Boarding Area B (gates 20-39). (AirTrain's Red Line stops at all 4 terminals & Parking, making a continuous loop.

  • Is an hour enough time?

I am going from SFO United domestic to United international OKA, no checked bags and I have an hour layover, is that enough time to make my international flight?

You arrive at SFO, Terminal 3 (T3) & need to get to the Internatinal Terminal with G gates 91-102. Domestic passengers transferring from T3 to the International Terminal may transfer via a connector walkway (located post-secuirty near gate 75) to the International Terminal's Boarding Area G arriving at post-security near gate G92. You have enough time.

What do you mean by "post-security"? Is T3 and International Terminal Boarding Area G connected with a connector walkway that eliminates the need to go through Customs Border Protection? I am on United Airlines flying in from Canada to SFO connecting with United Airlines to Narita. Will the 1.5 hr layover be enough?
