I am flying in to San Francisco from Incheon, South Korea at 11:40 a.m. I have one checked bag. I am then catching a United Airline flight from San Francisco to Las Vegas at 2:00 p.m. Is two hours and twenty minutes enough time for me to go through immigration check line (I am a US citizen), check in with United (re-send my bag), go through security and get on the United flight? Please let me know. Thanks,

It should be enough time. What airline is your flight from ICN on?

    Korean Air

Then you don't have much room for error if the flight from ICN is delayed.

I am arriving at SFO at 13.15 from Dubai on Emirates. I then need to catch a flight to Seattle. Will i be able to make a flight at 14.10, and if not, what time do i need between arriving at SFO and departing for Seattle?

That is a completely impossible connection. You need at least 2 hours if both tickets are on the same reservation and 3 hours if on two separate reservations. In SFO you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags, and go through security.

  • Short Layover!

I am flying United from Lafayette, LA to Kahului, HI I have a connection through SFO that I am a little nervous about. My flight from SFO to OGG has a 43min layover. Also, it is a later afternoon departure so the morning fog should not be a problem. I also upgraded my ticket to Ecomony Plus so will be seated in row 8 when I arrive at SFO. I would not have to change terminals or go through customs but the gates are on opposite ends of terminal 3. Will I have enough time to make my connecting flight? I did purchase this ticket through UA and no as seperate tickets.

Yes, that should be enough time as long as your flight into SFO is on-time.

Hi, I'm travelling from Melbourne, Australia into SFO arriving at 9.30am. I'm wanting to book a connecting flight to YVR with Air Canada at 12.05pm and I'm wondering if this is enough time to clear customs and re-check luggage. Thanks

That should be just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

Hello, we are arriving to SFO from lLondon, Uk at 16:50. We would like to take the last flight to Maui, with virgin America leaving at 18:35. Is there enough time to go through customs, pick up the bags and recheck them, going through security again? Thank you!

On two separate reservations, no, that is absolutely not enough time. You should be able to get a later flight on another airline.

  • Two separate reservations

Hi, I will fly from yeg - sea - sfo by Alaska airlines, arrive in sfo @ 10:59pm, then I will fly out first class to Haneda, Tokyo by JAL @ 1:35am next day. Two separate reservations. Non US passport holder with checked in luggage. Do I need to go up all the way to the check-in counter to get the luggage tag or just get through re-check in desk to catch a connection flight? Do I have enough time? Thanks.

Since you are on two separate reservations you will have to claim your bags from Alaska and take them to the JAL check-in desk in SFO. You should have plenty of time.

Thank you so much for your help! What if I fly in @ 23:57? Will that be enough?

That would be much harder - I wouldn't try it.

I have a flight from Las Vegas to SFO arriving at 12:01pm, and have to catch a flight at 13:10 to Hong Kong. Both flights from United Airlines. Will I be able to make it?

Yes that is enough time. All you have to do in SFO is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. All united gates are connected inside security.

flight 995 to 1111 allows 38min stop - will we make it?

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Vancouver. All you have to do in SFO is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You should have enough time as long as your flight from Vancouver is on-time.

I will land at SFO at 1235 on SQ16. I have a connecting flight with UA Skywest to at 1453 (dallas). non US passport. Its the same alliance and I will most likely be able to tag my bags across. but would it be possible to make the connection? not that it makes any differnce to connections, but I would be flying business / UA first - don't know if they can assist better?

Yes, that should be possible. Flying first on United will get you through security at SFO faster. You will still have to claim your bags in SFO to go through US Customs.

  • LAX - SFO - MUC Timing

Hi, I am currently planing my US trip. Following situation. Domestic flight LAX to SFO (Eco, United) and outbound SFO to MUC (Business, Lufthansa) on a Thursday. I need to take the late departe at 8.45pm outbound and am wondering about connection times. It will be seperate ticketing. I have the option of arriving at SFO either at 5.49pm or 7.23pm. I could arrange going without checked luggage would however prefer not to. I am currently asuming that I will not have checked through luggage so I would need to pick it up in SFO and would go for the "safer" option. Still wondering whether I will have enough time as it under the safe considered 3h. Thanks!

IF both flights are on the same reservation then your bags will be checked through. There is no US Customs when leaving the US. The 5:49 flight should be fine even if your bags aren't checked through.

  • United LAX-CDG via SFO

Traveling from LAX to CDG through SFO with a terminal change. I'm assuming a terminal change from domestic (LAX-SFO) to international (SFO-CDG) do I need to recheck bags, how far is it from domestic to international terminal, how much time should I allow for the terminal change?

If both flights are on United you just have to walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. If not on United, I need to know what airlines you are flying to answer your question.

Flying into SFO on Cathay and connecting on Westjet to Vancouver. Do I need to go through immigration at SFO?

Yes, in SFO you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk if they are tagged through to Vancouver, otherwise you will have to take them to the Westjet ticket counter. Then you will go through security and to your departure gate. You need at least 2 hours for this transfer if on the same reservation and 3 hours if on separate reservations.

we have 4 hours layover, with mobility difficulties, how can we get to the centurion lounge from term 1 to term 3, and back to term 1 for take off?

You will have to leave the secure area to do that and go through security both ways.
