Is it a bus? Can i make a flight that departs in 10 minutes?

A 10 minutes transfer is only doable if it is within the same gate area. I suggest you open www.ifly.com/sfo then click on 'Terminal Map' under QUICK LINKS and scroll down to the detailed text.

I arrive from Copenhapen on SAS at 2:45 pm -and am trying to make a 5;08 pm flight on United Express to Reno - do I have euf time and do I I'll have to recheck my bag and go back through security?

You will re-check your bag after you go through immigration then you need to go back through security - You have to do this any time you enter the US from abroad. You have enough time.

I will be ariving treminal 1 on Emirates airline at 1:05 PM from Australia. I need to get to the domestic terminal to meet a friend and catch van to Hotel. How long will it take me and how do I get to the domestic terminal.

You will arrive at SFO's International Terminal (TI), where you need to go through passport check, retrieve checked bags, go through customs clearance, and thereafter, with bags in tow, take the Red-line of the AirTrain (an automated people mover) to one of the two currently operating Terminals 1 or 2. Estimated time Arrival to Domestic Terminal: 1 hr to 1hr 15 mins. For more airport information open I suggest you open www.ifly.com/sfo then click on 'Terminal Map' under QUICK LINKS and scroll down to the detailed text.

United Airlines from YVR to SFO International terminal and the connecting to United Airlines at Terminal 3 within one hour! is it possible with all the news about long security checks?

Many flights from YVR arrive in Terminal 3 (since you will preclear US immigration in YVR), if that's the case you won't have to change terminals or go back through security.

You are right..... I will be on United Express, which would be arriving at Terminal 3 and not at SFO International Terminal as I thought, eventhough it is an international flight from Canada. Thanks very much for your prompt reply!

flight from YVR to SFO allows 39 minute connection time - will we make it?

sin-sfo arrv 12:45pm SQ....connect on Frontier dep 2:35pm..Is there enough time to make it to immigr/customs and hv time to check in to frontier.

You arrive at the International Terminal (IT or TI) where you need to go through passport check, retrieve checked bags, go through customs clearance and - if transferring to another flight - re-check-in bag: Onward passengers will exit Arrivals Hall through dedicated doors indicating 'Connecting Flights', where they will re-check in bags at the baggage desk directly outside of the exit. However, if you need to take your bags along to check them in with Frontier, you may have a problem time-wise. Your connecting flight with Frontier is in Terminal 1, which has Boarding Area B (gates 20-39). The Blue-line of the AirTrain (automated people mover) serves all terminals, making a continuous loop and taking only minutes between stops. On arrival at T1 you need to go though security check before proceeding to your gate.

How in earth transfering in one hour 25 minutes from SFO International Terminal arrival to SFO Terminal 3 domestic connecting flight..? Luckily, only handbag with... Apparently new "Amazing Race" episode in real life...

25 minutes is not enough, particularly if you are an international arrival. I suggest you open www.ifly.com/sfo then click on 'Terminal Map' under QUICK LINKS and scroll down to the detailed text. Pay attention to Getting around, Security Check lines & terminal details.

  • Domestic to International Transfer

I am about to book flights from IAD onto to Melbourne, Australia via SFO and Auckland, New Zealand. I will be flying United domestically, then onward on Air New Zealand for my international flights. My connection time is only 91 minutes; it looks like I will arrive in Terminal 3 and depart from Terminal G. From what I am reading, it sounds like this connection time might be doable, but I know situations in airports often change. Can someone tell me if this is a feasible connection? I usually connect through LAX when I fly to AU/NZ, but right now flying through SFO is cheaper at the moment. Thanks.

You will arrive via United at SF at Terminal 3 and depart via Air New Zealand at the International terminal. Your bags will be automatically transferred as both airlines belong to the Star Alliance. Domestic passengers transferring from T3 to the International Terminal may transfer via a connector walkway (located post-secuirty near gate 75) to the International Terminal's Boarding Area G arriving at post-security near gate G92. Also, I suggest you open www.ifly.com/sfo then click on 'Terminal Map' under QUICK LINKS and scroll down to the detailed text.

  • Terminal 1 Gate 20 - Terminal 2 Gate 57

I have less than an hour to get from Terminal 1 Gate 20 to Terminal 2 Gate 57. Do I have to go out and back through security or can I transfer between terminals inside of security? Will I have enough time to make it between gates and make my flight. I am flying in on an American Airlines ticket that is run by Alaska and flying out on American Airlines. Thanks for your help.

On arrival at SFO, Terminal 1, you need to take the Red-line of the AirTrain (an automated people mover), which serves all terminals & the garage on a continuous loop and takes only minutes between terminals. Signs will guide you. At Terminal 2, which has Boarding Area D (gates 50-59) you need to go through security check before proceeding to your gate. Your checked bags will be automatically transferred. You have enough time.

  • Best place to gather

Where is the best place for us to meet each other when three of our group arrive on Frontier (Terminal 1) and two on United (Terminal 3) and one on Southwest (? Terminal)?? All will have checked luggage. Arrival times are very close together (early afternoon).

As one member of your group arrives via Southwest at the international terminal - where he/she needs to go through passport check, pick up bags, go through customs first, I suggest you all meet up at the baggage claim level - close to the information counter. To get there, the red-line of the AirTrain (an automated people mover) serves all terminals & the garage, making a continuous loop taking only minutes between stops (baggage carts have hand brakes and can be taken onto the AirTrain); however, you can also walk to your connecting terminal: walking around the entire terminal loop would take 25 minutes.

  • From Terminal3 to international Terminal

I'm a mom traveling with a baby and will have less than one hour to get from terminal3 to the international terminal. Will it be enough time? What is the shortest way? I will be flying back to Europe with Lufthansa. Do you know their usual gates? If I got it right I won't have to go through security check? Thank you for your answer.

    1. At SFO Airport, domestic passengers transferring from T3 to the International Terminal may transfer via a connector walkway (located post-securiy near gate 75) to the International Terminal's Boarding Area G arriving at post-security near gate G92. If they have not yet checked in for their connecting flight, they need to stop by at their airline counter in the Main Hall and then take either the AirTrain or walk to the International Terminal, where they need to go through security check before proceeding to their connecting gate. 2. The International Terminal has boarding areas A (gates 1-12) and G (gates 91-102) on either side of the two-level Main Hall. 3. On arrival there, look at overhead screens to find your flight & gate number, then follow signs. Note that you can bring a collapsible stroller onboard the aircraft, plus a baby bag (in addition to your carry-on bag. IMPORTANT Make sure your first airline will transfer bags to Lufthansa flight - if not, you would have to check them in at the International Terminal first, before proceeding to your gate. You have enough time - but do not hesitate to ask for assistance of any airline or AP personnel.

We are flying into Terminal 3 and out of Terminal 1, with a 40 minute layover...domestic flight. Trying to figure out if that is enough time? Do we have to go through security again?

On arrival at SFO in T3, head for the Red line of the Airtrain (follow signs (pre-security). Your next stop is T2 then T3. Airtrain runs on a continuous circle around the terminals and takes minutes. On arrival at T1, go through security check and on to your gate (B boarding area gates 20-39, C boarding area gates40-48). Hurry!

Actually, United offers a shuttle between Terminal 3 and Terminal 1 that stays INSIDE the Security zone. You don't have to take the train and you don' thave to leave Security. It leaves every 5 minutes. Gate 39 in Terminal 1, Gate 87A in Terminal 3. (And maybe gate 71A in Terminal 3.)
