Traveling from PHL through SFO to SYD on Qantas on Dec. 10. Layover is 1:53. Is that enough time to get from domestic to international terminal? We are not checking any bags.

What airlines are you flying? That's fairly important information.

We are flying American PHL-SFO and Qantas SFO-SYD. Thank you for your advice.

That should be just enough time if the flight from PHL is on-time.

I am going to fly PVG-SFO-ATL. However United changed the time of the second flight. So I only have 2hr15min connection time. I am a Chinese citizen. Is it enough for me to go through the custom, take my baggage and get on the next flight?

Yes, that should be enough time if the flight from Shanghai is on-time.

Hi! My flight from BWI is scheduled to arrive at 09.52 AM at SFO this Saturday. Next flight from SFO to YVR will depart at 10.40 AM. Will I make this connection, or should I change my flight schedule? Thanks!

Forgot to mention: both flights are operated by United airlines and I do not have checked baggage

Yes, that is enough time. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

Flights are MSY-SFO-YVR with a 47 minute layover in SFO- is that enough time to make flight? Both flights are United.

Yes, that is enough time. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

Hello flying from Vancouver Canada to Burbank airport via San Francisco only have thirty minutes to connect. Arrival and departure both day terminal 3 on tickets. Is there enough time to make next flight.

Yes, that is enough time. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Vancouver. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

We land into SFO at 7.10am on United from Syd and depart SFO at 8.30am for Calgary, Canada. I am concerned we do not have enough time???

That is indeed a very difficult connection. In SFO you have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security and to your departure gate. Everything has to go perfectly for that to be enough time.

Connecting at united/luftahnsa flight Frankfurt-San Fran-Honolulu only have 1.48 min connection time and have to change from terminal 1 to terminal 3. Do we need to collect baggage? Or will it follow on to hnl and will we have enough time to make the flight thanks

You will not arrive in Terminal 1. You arrive in the International Terminal, where you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go through security and to your departure gate. You have just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

Hi. I am flying from Newark to SFO to Shanghai on United. Flights were booked on the same reservation. I land in SFO at 12:20 pm on a thursday in october and my next flight leaves at 1:35pm. Do you think I will have enough time? Do I have to claim my baggage or just walk to the next gate? Thanks.

Yes, that is enough time. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate in SFO.

  • Access to INTL Concourse A if I fly out of Terminal 1 Domestic

I am flying out of SFO Terminal 1 domestic, but I have access to the Air France lounge in Concourse A. Am I able to go to the lounge in international and get back to domestic without having to go through security multiple times?

No, that is not possible. T1 is not connected to anything else inside security.

HI! We have a single ticket in february. Flying from HEL-FRA - lufthansa FRA-SFO-HNL- United Layover time in SFO 1:30. Q: Do we have to claim our luggage in SFO? Do we have enough time? HNL-SFO- United SFO-FRA-HEL lufthansa On the way back the layover time is 1:46. Q: Do we have to claim our luggage in SFO? Do we have enough time?

Yes, in SFO on your way to HNL you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags, and go through security. On the way back, all you have to do in SFO is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. The first connection is quite difficult. The second connection is fairly easy.

Hi! The flights have been rescheduled so we'll have 1:54h for our 1st layover in SFO. Is this additional 24min enough to feel more comfortable with the layover time? Another question: I read form article that going trough US Customs to domestic flight (in our case to HNL) could also be done into international terminal and after that using the walkway between International and terminal 3. Is this true? Could it save time?

I am flying Toronto to San Francisco on Air Canada, landing at the international terminal, then connecting to a United flight in the same terminal (same section, too). I have 90 minutes between. Am I able to simply get off the first flight and walk to the gate for the second flight? Note: I will have only carry-on luggage, so no need to collect bags inbetween

Yes, that's all you have to do. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto.

I have a similar flight from TO through SFO to SEA with 85 minutes to connect but will have checked luggage. Will I have to recheck my luggage or will it be sent to final destination? Travelling AC and UA on same ticket. Thanks.

I am concerned about my upcoming flight to Cabo from SFO. I will be arriving at terminal 3, and need to transfer to the International terminal with only a 49 minute layover. This is a new itinerary change from my original booking. Should I change my flight schedule?

That should be enough time if the first flight is on-time and both flights are on United. There is a walkway inside security between T3 and concourse G of the International Terminal.

Hi I'll be travelling from Singapore to SFO via Singapore Airlines, and I have separately booked a Air Canada flight to Vancouver. SQ will arrive at 10.10am and AC flight is at 12.05am. Do I need to clear customs, pick bag and re-check in and is there enough time ? Thanks!

Oops sorry my AC flight is 12.05pm ie about 1 hr 45mins transit time

Yes, you need to do all of that. I'm guessing your AC flight is at 12:05 PM, not AM. You barely have enough time if everything goes perfectly.

Hi, I have a 1hr 40min layover in San Fran (Maui to San Fran) San Fran to Toronto . Do I need to reclaim baggage Do I need to go through customs Are these flights in the same terminal Do I have enough time? Thank you!!

There is no US Customs when leaving the US. If both flights are on United/Air Canada on the same reservation you just have to walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have enough time.

  • PDX - SFO - LHR 56 minutes between flights

Hi, I am flying from Portland to London via SFO mid December. PDX-SFO arrives 2:14pm and SFO - LHR departs 3:10pm. On United. a) is it possible to get from United domestic to international termijnal in time to board? b) do I have to go through TSA at SFO for the LHR flight or is there an internal connection walkway that bypasses? United changed the flight times shortening the gap and this seems very tight if not impossible to me. I have TSA precheck. Thanks for tips and help.

Yes, that is possible. There is a walkway from Terminal 3 to the G concourse of the International Terminal where you depart inside security. You have enough time.
