I am flying from Toronto to Brisbane connecting through San Francisco and Sydney. Do I have to recheck my luggage and go through security again? I have an hour and 15 minutes. Is that enough time?

What airlines are you flying? Were your tickets purchased on a single reservation or separate ones?

I'm flying united but air Canada from Toronto to San Francisco. It's a single reservation.

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. Air Canada flights use both the A and G concourses of the International Terminal. You will depart to Sydney in the G concourse of the International Terminal. if you arrive in G you just have to walk to your departure gate. If you arrive in A you will have to walk to the G side off the terminal and go through security. Either way you have enough time as long as your flight from Toronto is on-time. You won't have to do anything with your luggage.

  • 35 minute connection time between international flights
    Sep 12, 2015
Have a flight booked with United for YYZ to PEK with a connection in SFO. Just received notice of a schedule change, and now I only have 35 minutes between flights. I'm assuming it's not nearly enough time for me to deplane, go through customs (I'm Canadian), pick up and re-check luggage, and go to the new gate. Not to mention potential delays. Can I request United to rebook me on something else, or what are my options if I miss the connections? Thansk!

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. you do not have to go through customs in San Francisco. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. It is possible if your first flight is on-time.

  • Getting a package

We have a short lay over in the SFO domestic United terminal. A friend in SF has a camera that we want to take on our continuing trip. Is there any way we can arrange for her to get a pass thru security to meet us at one of our gates so we can get the camera? We just don't have enough time between flights to go out and back thru security.

No, there is not. You'll either have to exit security to get it or she will have to send it to you some other way.

Does anyone know how long it takes to get from gate D84 to F51?

There is no D84 or F51. Do you mean D51 and F84? It will probably take 30-45 minutes as you will have to go through security again when you change terminals as Terminals 2 and 3 aren't connected inside security.

Flying from Toronto Canada to San Francisco via Air Canada. Arriving at terminal 1 Int at San Francisco, then onto Santa Barbara via United Airlines at terminal 3.First time in San Francisco. How long will it take to walk from terminal 1 Int to terminal 3? Also, will my baggage be sent on to my flight to Santa Barbara, or do I have to pick up my baggage and go through security again? Thanking you in advance.

Air Canada does not use Terminal 1 in SFO. They use the international terminal. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. Air Canada uses both the G and A sides of the International Terminal. If you arrive on the G side you can just walk to your United gate in Terminal 3. If you arrive in the A side you will have to cross the international terminal and walk to Terminal 3 and go through security.

  • Connecting flight in SFO, AC to UA
    Mar 8, 2015
We have a connecting flight in SFO on March 30th. Air Canada to United Airlines, with only 1 hour layover. Will our baggage be passed through to UA and do we have to go through security again at SFO, we will have already done this in YYZ.

Your baggage will be transferred. AC uses some gates in SFO that are directly connected to the UA gates and some gates that require going through security. Either way an hour should be enough time.

Arriving Terminal 1, being picked up by friends International Terminal, Alaska Airlines, upper level. How do I get there walking?

Upon arrival, exit the secure area of terminal 1, then walk to the International Terminal, then go to the upper level.

  • Is 2 hours 15 minutes enough?
    Feb 15, 2015
Hi, I'm landing SFO airport at 6.30pm from Taiwan through Eva Air and then having a connecting flight to OR with Virgin America at 8.45pm (Booked separately). Am I able to catch up the connecting flight? Thanks.

That would be probably enough time. But probably doesn't leave enough time for any delays or issues with immigration.

I have 3hrs between landing on my flight from London and leaving for New Zealand. Will I have to collect all my bags and re check in and will I have time to use Freshen up for a shower? Is freshen up easily accessible or would there be security problems? Thanks

Yes, you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the transfer desk, You could probably use the restroom after you claim your bags and before you go through Customs, but I'm not 100% sure if there is a restroom available there.

  • PDX-SFO-MCO 34 minute connecting time
    Oct 15, 2014
Hello, I booked my flight months ago and was assured 34 minutes would be enough time, but now I'm getting worried. Family of 4 flying from PDX to MCO. Layover in SFO is 34 minutes. Called and will be arriving and departing from terminal 3. Will we make it?! I also found the early AM flight from pdx to sfo (UA 392) is 100% on time so that certainly helps. Will they hold the connecting flight a few minutes if needed?

Yes, if your first flight is on-time that should be enough time. They usually don't hold flights. If you miss your connection you will probably be rebooked to Orlando through Houston.

There are no hotels inside the airport.

  • Connecting flight international to domestic HELP!
    Jan 8, 2014
I'll be flying in on an international flight and ill need to make another domestic flight on UA to LAX. I am supposed to meet someone at baggage claim (the one non passengers can go to) and give them a dog. How am I supposed to go about doing this? Once I get off the flight i'll need to go through passport check, then what? Help please.

After passport check you'll claim your bags, then go through US customs. Since you're bringing a dog make sure you have all the import requirements for the dog complete. Then you'll exit customs and you can meet the person there. After that you can re-check any non-dog bags you have and go up to go through security and to your departure gate.
